A guy I played juniors with got on the floor Friday for the Wildcats, which was pretty cool.

New Zealand are ridiculous. 102, 98 and 98 in 40 minutes. It's basically them or Perth at this point.

I agree Perth & NZ are favourites. Breakers play an attractive style for fans. In the end, I think Perth might get up & win it this year.

As for the crappy crowd, they didn't deserve any better. Fancy having a 6.30pm tipoff on a Sunday evening. Not just any Sunday evening, just the exact same time as a Australia-New Zealand World Cup Final. The choice was obvious. Even if the game wasn't on, I play Sunday night basketball in a social league at Auchenflower. I note that the other game in Brisbane is on a Sunday evening also, so I'll likely be unable to go. All good though, I'm heading to a Saturday night game down at Gold Coast later this year.

The X, I actually like the Gold Coast Convention Centre more than Brisbane Convention Centre. Haven't seen what it's like for a game but I prefer the look of the Gold Coast Convention Centre. :)

I was tempted to go last night, but I had to stay home and watch the RWC semi. I'm glad I didn't in the end because it would have been a fair bit of money for a lackluster atmosphere... The game ended being okay. The Blaze are all offense at the moment, which they're going to need to fix. Plus Goulding needs to stop throwing up bricks :P

A good night for the Taipans import, I think his last name is Wilson. He was lights out.

Sit, GCCC is much better than BCC. Seats are also close to action, much better than Boondall. I think I'll go down to Coast & watch one Blaze game per year.

badreligionau, lay off Chris Goulding. When you are a cross between Adam Morrison & Sasha Vujavic in both looks & cult status, shot selection is not of his concern. It is his team & everybody else is just pawns

Very true, he kinda looks like Sasha and he shoots like Ammo... on defense he's probably a little more like Sasha because he actually made a few plays on defense last night. He's a good fit for the Blaze :P

They do have an import named Wilson, but it was Warren that went off in the fourth last night.

I've gone 4/5 both weeks in the NBL tipping comp. I'm never tipping the Blaze again.

I've only watched season opener plus a replay of Breakers-Hawks from week 1. Turrible times on One mean I probably won't follow NBL. I just wish they had live Friday night games.

Agreed. I went to bed after first half last night for Tigers-Breakers. Was just too tired!

Interestingly, 22-27,000 people are watching each game, which is basically the same as last year.

Yeah, that's just bad. I'd put that up with the best (or worst, as the case may be) we've seen from the likes of Ginobili and Varejao.

To his defense though, he at least did his best to sell it. Bosh's flop against Boozer was the worst I've seen.

I'd agree, the delayed reaction in Bosh's flop was shameful. Mills did time his a lot better, I'll give him that. Awfully generous call but he did nail it with the performance.

At least Bosh could conceivably have been hit and didn't foul Boozer about six times first.

This came a couple of plays after Patty Mills picked a fight with Jamar Wilson and Wilson got told off for it. Mills could gun down the entire opposition team and get away with it, it's a complete joke.

Wow. Nice flop. With NBA wiped out possibly gone for rest of our life, I think I could turn to Aussie league. Know where I could get a streaming videos of your league?

The end of this one has a better angle:

And 'flopping' has been leading the 'what do you want officials to focus on' poll on the NBL homepage for weeks now. They're doing a hell of a job with that.

Okay, that second angle made it on par with the Chris Bosh one. With Pat's profile, I'm not surprised officials have been particularly lenient with him. Signing him was a big marketing ploy for the Melbourne Tigers and he's probably generated a little more interest for the league. Still, that was disgraceful.

It was funny at the Australia/New Zealand game I went to how when he went to free throw line, a bunch of people tried to chant "MVP". I remember I was thinking "Really? Matt Dellavedova is more worthy than him in this game."

Even Axel would agree that's too much hip thrusting even if it's for defense.

Yeah, it looks even worse from that angle. From the first angle, it looked like there might've been just enough contact there to oversell with the flop but nope, just plain bad.

Patty always rips it up in one quarter. I have not seen a game where he has ripped it up for all four quarters. Perhaps explained by him being a streaky player but I actually feel like he is playing at 50% most of the time and just flips the 'on' switch whenever he feels like it...

Maybe being a big fish in a small pond has gone to his head somewhat. Deron Williams is putting up pretty ordinary numbers over in Turkey, my guess is that they don't care all that much since the NBA will be there waiting for them, at some point.

I don't think so, I think it just reflects that talent level between leagues is not as big as one might think.
