No it's the car. Someone asked him afterwards and he tweeted that it was the actual car.

oh hell yeah, that would bring me back for a day. FREE CAR! Let's go Vettel!

Re: Gran Turismo 5

Fri Oct 07, 2011 7:04 pm

Considering he only needs 1 point to seal it, he doesn't even need to finish the race. All he needs is for Jenson Button not to win the race. :cheeky:

Re: Gran Turismo 5

Sun Oct 09, 2011 7:39 pm

I guess I got mistaken. It's not the one that you can buy in the dealership, it's the Vettel challenge version. Same car though really.

They've also added a time trial in the online events where you can win 5,000,000cr. (Y)

Re: Gran Turismo 5

Mon Oct 10, 2011 5:37 am

yeah i don't think i'm good enough to win the 5 mil, but i'll take the free car. i tihnk the "regular" version of the car is pretty much the same name, but no "S.Vettel"

Re: Gran Turismo 5

Mon Oct 10, 2011 12:01 pm

To be honest, the 5mil is pretty easy to get. Gold is like 1:25. I took it pretty easy and did a 1:21. You basically just have to keep it on the track.

You could probably even go around the corners in a higher gear to make it easier to handle and then let it loose on the straights. (Y)

Re: Gran Turismo 5

Mon Oct 10, 2011 6:58 pm

I might have to give it a shot then! any luck on that STi? man, it is really impossible to find a specific car in the used car lot... it's like finding a needle in a haystack

Re: Gran Turismo 5

Mon Oct 10, 2011 8:34 pm

You were looking for a 2003 model right? I haven't seen one yet unfortunately.

Strangely there doesn't seem to be a 2003 model Impreza in the game, according to this car list. Except for a rally version and a race version. :?

Re: Gran Turismo 5

Tue Oct 11, 2011 5:03 am

hmm ewll that's odd. it's a bit harder to pinpoint the exact year i want because i have the american '04 but in the game they call the american '06 sti an '05 so i guess the years may be off. but judging by the pictures, the Impreza WRX STi (Type-II) '02 looks like my car and can't tell from the back, but the Impreza WRX STi Spec-C (Type-II) '04 should be the same as well.

so i guess the '02 would be my first choice.
Image
i got to take it out in the rain for the first time earlier this week. it was fun, but i didn't want to get too crazy because if i crash, i actually have to pay to repair my car + insurance goes up

EDIT: at the end of that list there's a list for "Gran Turismo 6" cars?? could you explain that?

Re: Gran Turismo 5

Link

Basically every year Kaz hands out an award at a car show and the winner is then created and added to the game. There are a few there already. They are mostly at the far right of the dealership screen with the tuner cars.

This was this year's winner:

Image

Kaz tweeted that it wouldn't be added to GT5 via DLC, but rather the “next Gran Turismo“. So they probably added it to a GT6 car list because of that.

Edit: 2.0 update is now available. It's 1192 MB. :bowdown2:

Re: Gran Turismo 5

Tue Oct 11, 2011 2:27 pm

whew, i'm glad i got the free car before the update. i would've hated to have to get the update in order to sign in. it sucked because Suzuka Circuit is one of the tracks i hate, so i seriously tried it like over 75 times and having to restart because my laps kept getting invalidated. couldn't keep the thing on the track. out of all my attempts, i finished a lap 3 times, the first 4 seconds short of gold at 1:29, the second was frustratingly just short of gold at 1:25.75, and my final attempt i got 1:22

i took the 5 million and bought a Zonda R

I would imagine the update would be a big download if they're adding interiors to all of the standard cars.

Re: Gran Turismo 5

Tue Oct 11, 2011 2:31 pm

nah, they BS'd it. Completely blacked out silhouetted interiors for the standards. It's like they popped out the windshield and threw the camera in there, can't see the steering wheel.

But I still dont care. At least now I can use the camera across all my cars. I'm def going to start playing this again now......as soon as I fix my custom music that isnt playing anymore.

Re: Gran Turismo 5

Tue Oct 11, 2011 3:08 pm

I agree that the standard interiors are pretty boring, but open top cars like the Formula GT are much more detailed.

DLC Announced. So happy that Spa will be available on the game. It's probably my favourite track in the world. :)

DLC Summary. US Dollars btw. (Spoilered because of images)

Course Pack (2 tracks, 5 layouts)

This DLC pack adds the new tracks to Gran Turismo 5.
The new Course Pack includes SPA-Francorchamps (with weather effects) and Kart Space layouts I and II (each layout supports normal and reverse).

Release date: 10/18/2011 Price: $4.99

-----

Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps

Total length: 7004m Longest straight: 751.8m Elevation difference: 104m Number of corners: 21

An historic, high speed technical circuit.
This is a long 7km circuit located in eastern Belgium, in a hilly region near the German border. It is famous for its many historic moments in the world of racing.
It is a high speed technical track with an extreme climb and descent, and there are many sections that are a true test of a driver's skill. The most difficult section on the track is the Eau rouge at the beginning. This is a high speed corner with heavy lateral and horizontal G's affecting the car, and the exit speed here determines the speed on the straight. You'll want to make sure you have this corner mastered in order to mark a good time on this track.

Kart Space I/II

Total length: 764m Longest straight: 115m Elevation difference: 2.3m Number of corners: 8

An illuminated indoor circuit for racing Karts
This is a brightly lit indoor course for racing Karts. The track has a total length of 764m, and features a section that is a full 360 degree loop, as well as some tight hairpins.
As the dynamics of racing Karts are very sensitive, you mustn’t be impatient when you drive. You'll want to use the full width of the track, and avoid rough operation of both the steering and throttle. As a variation to this track, there is a Kart Space II, which short cuts the hairpin section.

of course, i won't buy any of this stuff, but i'm really digging the lights on the kart track and also the challenger srt 8 looks pretty cool too.

Re: Gran Turismo 5

Tue Oct 11, 2011 4:56 pm

I'll probably buy the tracks pack, simply because of Spa. And maybe the car pack because I'm trying to collect all of the cars. I've got ~530 so far.

Wish the course pack would have been all the missing GT4 tracks for like $5-$10.

ok, so I'm back into this. had a lot of fun today, online and off, and was actually racing without any assists on. I can't race without ABS at 1, but I was just wondering what other assists you guys use.

I found out about using Comfort: Hard tires for drifting, going to try that if I load up again tonight.

What PPs do you usually keep in your garage that you use online? If you go online. Maybe I need to start a lobby and see what the restrictions are, like, 400, 450, 500, etc, or if they can all be custom.

I need to get to level 40, I need my full damage....(I'm at 22)

I decided to do the b-spec Le Mans endurance race yesterday/today for some reason. Got 5.7m exp thanks to the 200% bonus and am now level 39 b-spec.
I can reach level 40 if I do it one more time and then a couple of normal races. Then I can do the Nurburgring endurance event and will have completed all of the b-spec events. :)

They will hopefully be included in future DLC packs (if there are any).

I have ABS at 1 too. I'm pretty sure that's the only assist I use. I do more drifting online than actual racing, but I've got plenty of cars that are capable of doing both. PP's range from 978-174. My favourites list is mostly made up of racing cars now. Pretty much my 100 most powerful cars.

Check out my shiny new toy. Well I've had the car for a while, but I recently got a silver chrome paint chip when I passed a certain number of cars owned.

I completed the a-spec Tsubuka 9-hour endurance event over the last two days thanks to the new mid-race save feature. I didn't actually have to race for the whole 9 hours though thanks to the X2010. I would just get 60 laps ahead and then take a break for an hour while the race continued. (it took the second placed guy roughly one minute to do a lap, so the amount of laps ahead was the length of time I could afford to just sit there)

Ended up doing 541 laps. By my maths that is over 1000km.

I've never been a fan of endurance race. I remember back in Gran Turismo 2 doing a 200 lap endurance race like after 5 laps I basically quit the game.

Re: Gran Turismo 5

WTF.....you're only level 37? There is no chance of me reaching 40 to get my full damage...

Re: Gran Turismo 5

Sun Oct 16, 2011 1:23 pm

I would probably be level 40 by now if I hadn't spent most of my time messing around online. I stopped doing a-spec races for a fair while because all I had left to do was the Nascar, Formula GT and 3 endurance races (a 9 hour and two 24 hours).

With the 2.0 update money is harder to get, but the 200% login bonus is very handy for gaining exp. Especially in endurance events.
I don't know how I'll do the Le Mans 24 hour event. Maybe an hour a day over 3-4 weeks.

No prize or anything though. Probably will get something good after finishing the Nurburgring 24hr race, which I've just started.
