All Star Rookie Team

Mon Dec 23, 2002 2:47 am

who do you guys consider will be in the All Star Game Rookie team for this year facing last year Rookies?

Mon Dec 23, 2002 3:07 am

probably Yao Ming (Ming Yao), Drew Gooden, Caron Butler, Amare Stoudamare ( :? ), Dajuan Wagner, Jay Williams, Nene Hilario.....

Mon Dec 23, 2002 6:47 am

It doesn't have to be the same rookies as last year for the sophmores right?

Mon Dec 23, 2002 7:54 am

Dan should be in there

Mon Dec 23, 2002 10:28 am

Starting 5
C-Yao Ming (Unstoppable. Will take over the league.)
PF-Amare Stoudamire (Best Highschooler in years.)
SF-Caron Butler (Consistent.)
SG-Dajuan Wagner (Playing like a veteran.)
PG-Jay Williams (Solid. Needs to shoot more.)

Bench
Drew Gooden (Amare is out performing him.)
Nene Hilario (Beast!!)
Carlos Boozer (Playing great for the Cavs.)
Gordon Giricek (Next Euro star.)
Nikoloz Tskitishvili (Showing a good inside-outside game.)
Marko Jaric (Doing well backing up Dre.)
Dan Gadzuric (On early season form.)

As far as you are choosing this year rookies, I don't think it will matter who they are facing.[/code]

I wasn't asking for that reason I was just interested. I'm not gonna chose a rookie team based on matchups...

Unless he is selected for the All-Star team, in which case he will be ineligible to play in the Rookie game, the same as Tim Duncan and Vince Carter.

My picks for the all-rookie starting five:

C - Stoudamire
PF - Gooden
SF - C. Butler
SG - Wagner
PG - Jaric

Wed Dec 25, 2002 1:47 pm

How can you leave Ming off the team when he leads the league in fg%?

Wed Dec 25, 2002 2:06 pm

C. Ming
F. Stoudamire
F. Gooden
G. Butler
G. Wagner

As I said, depends on whether he's elected to the All-Star team. If he is, he won't be eligible to play in the Rookie/Sophomore Challenge. If he's not an All-Star, then he certainly deserves to be in the rookie game. The way he's been playing since the Rockets started giving him minutes (and the starting job), he's sure to be a participant at the All-Star Weekend one way or another.

Yao Ming got more votes than MJ, so I assumed he will make the all-star team.

Thu Dec 26, 2002 5:29 pm

Yeah, but if he's not voted as the starter, the votes mean nothing as the coaches select the reserves.

Thu Dec 26, 2002 11:23 pm

The coaches would be idiots if they didn't vote in Yao.

Exactly, Dan.

Fri Dec 27, 2002 8:10 am

Don't forget Ginobili. He got injured, but he is spectacular and he is much better than Thizkivili (however he is called) and Giricek.

Base on what we've seen so far, Giricek is better than Ginobili in the NBA, stats-wise.

Fri Dec 27, 2002 11:46 pm

Some outsiders: Smush Parker (playing decent in PG-starved Cleveland) and Vincent Yarbrough (might see more time with Posey out of Denver). Rashual Butler and Mike Batiste are the only others not mentioned from the top scoring rookies, but I think their positions are too crowded.

Very true. Manu has had one or two games where he has shown signs of the player that he is, but he is not performing to his ability consistently like Giricek
