i will be buying a new computer soon (maybe early next year) and i want to know if the computer i am getting will run max settings with no lag.
Processor
Intel Core i3-370M Processor (2.4GHz, Dual Core/4 Threads, 3MB L3 Cache)
Operating System
A system with a 64-bit operating system (Genuine Windows® 7) can handle larger amounts of information than a 32-bit system. Since it can use more RAM—4 GB and up—a 64-bit computer can be more responsive when you're running lots of programs at once.

Probably not well. Intel graphics aren't, well, good. You might be able to play the game on the lowest settings but that'd be it.
You'll want to look for a laptop with a dedicated graphics card that is either ATI or Nvidia. And even then, try to get one that doesn't have mobility or mobile or an M in the graphics name.

I have a laptop with the same Graphics card and I get around 30 FPS at the lowest setting.

better but not great, only 256mb graphics card (although it is dedicated) and only 2 gigs of ram hurts.
what's your price range with this? Does it need to be a laptop or can you get a desktop instead (which will be cheaper)?
Thu Sep 22, 2011 11:02 am
lol my price range is only 450 dollars because im in school and dont have a job yet

will it run better if i buy 2k9 instead
Thu Sep 22, 2011 11:54 am
I dont know if you'll be able to find a laptop that runs current games on max settings in that price range.
However, you could build a computer within that price range that could, and possibly find a desktop within that that could too.

hows is the gameplay like does it keep lagging on the lowest settings?
Fri Sep 23, 2011 11:15 am
Yeah it is not the most ideal. It is manageable but it is hard to get your shot timing right sometimes and it just does not give a satisfying feeling after a while.
Sat Sep 24, 2011 5:33 am
the price isnt that bad will it allow me to play nba 2k11 max settings without lag
Sat Sep 24, 2011 9:51 am
Not max, I think. Laptop within that price range can just play like medium setting. You can save up for 1K for a good laptop. but then 1K for a DESKTOP is already beast, just sayin'
Sat Sep 24, 2011 11:19 pm
run FRAPS and see how much fps you get..ideally it should be 60fps to be considered smooth gameplay. 30-40fps is what I call borderline smooth although some would say they are ok with lower esp those who havent experience playing with good fps (hell I know someone playing FSX at 10fps and he says its smooth lol)
Sat Sep 24, 2011 11:35 pm
If you have $450 to spend, don't buy a fucking laptop, you can't run shit on a $450 laptop. Intel graphics are even worse.
You can with some effort and re-appropriation play modern console ports at an adequate level for $450 on a desktop.

How will he run FRAPS on a computer he has yet to own?

i have a modern day console which is my xbox 360 but i want 2k on a pc so i can modd it
Sun Sep 25, 2011 10:06 am
@miamiheat: No ENB(?) for you then. Like I said 450 dollars is not enough to max the game.
@wickedaway: Beats me, playing NBA 2k11 on 15-20FPS. And it's smooth.lol.
Sun Sep 25, 2011 1:04 pm
Well its not..you just got used to it
Just like this..

I know how it feels though as I played through crysis on low fps (sub 30s) and thought it was smooth till I upgraded and got to play in 60fps range and felt the difference. Also I remember way back in the NBA Live 05 days when we played it in my friend's PC with integrated graphics..I swear it was low fps as the response was delayed (say shooting has a millisecond or so delay) compared to my rig then
Sun Sep 25, 2011 2:51 pm
@wickedaway: I know. I'm used to it. On everygame. I always low FPS. Sucky laptop is sucky.

I dont know how you can call a 540m a "beast" when technically its slower than a desktop 9600GT and I just read in the other thread that the 9600GT cannot run this game in high settings..
540M

http://www.geforce.com/Hardware/GPUs/ge ... ificationsOn second thought, I just realized my wife's laptop (acer 4743g) has a 540m lol..maybe I should see it for myself then
