Dirk

Mon Dec 23, 2002 1:37 am

I would agree with you, but for some reason in the official NBA site Dirk is not winning, I guess there too many Yao fans around.

Mon Dec 23, 2002 2:05 am

It's definately Dirk... Ming will surpass him sooner or later probably, but for now, it's Dirk.

Mon Dec 23, 2002 9:55 am

I''m gonna go a different direction how about the Kandi Man. He is showing vast improvements and has a complete game. He has better touch than Vlade, he's much bigger than Big Z, runs the floor better than Pau, and handles the ball as well as Dirk. In two years Kandi is gonna be more dominant in the paint than all of these big men that you listed.

I went for Illgauskas. He is playing great so far this season and should make the All Star team. He is finally showing what everyone in the Cavs organisation knew all along. All it has taken him is a few injury prone years. He is showing the complete game. Great post moves, outside shooting, defence and passing.

He has better touch than Vlade,

But nowhere near as good a touch as Big Z.

he's much bigger than Big Z,

Illgauskas is 7'3, 260 pounds. Kandi is 7'0, 270 pounds.

runs the floor better than Pau

Don't think so.

and handles the ball as well as Dirk.

Hahaha, Good one.

Olowokandi must improve a lot even if he's far better from the beginning of his NBA career !

Dirk is in my opinion the best for the moment, cause he plays good under the basket and he can scores 3.

Mon Dec 23, 2002 6:14 pm

I voted for Dirk.

He is currently one of the best in the league ...let alone the best 7 footers...

NBA.com is fan based. Glad to see that the NLSC forum's more intelligant than that.

Dirk Nowitzki is da man!! Yao Ming will be great, but right now it's Dirk Dirk Dirk Dirk Dirk!!!!!

Tue Dec 24, 2002 12:26 pm

Dirk Nowitzki is playing better than any 7-0 international guy in the league. I time will tell when will Yao be better than Dirk.

MERRY CHRISTMAS

Add another vote for Dirk. Averaging 21.6 ppg (14th), 10.6 rpg (6th), 2.6 apg, decent blocks and steals numbers, and he's probably the most valuable player on a Mavericks team that has had an excellent start to the season.

Thu Dec 26, 2002 1:29 am

i voted for dirk
but i think u forgot that tim duncan is international
he aint even on the list
he woulda been my pick if he was on there

Thu Dec 26, 2002 3:09 am

Duncan isn't international, international players can't play for the Dream Team. That's like saying Ewing is Jamaican even though he has a U.S. passport.

Thu Dec 26, 2002 11:57 am

In fact, Ewing or Olajuwon would be consider more international than Duncan. Duncan is not international, Duncan was born in Virgin Islands which is US territory. I believe the one who is missing would be Mutombo who is not playing so I don't think anyone would care if he's on the list or what. :?

Thu Dec 26, 2002 5:44 pm

As far as Duncan goes, I guess it's up to the creator of the poll. The NBA recognises him as an international player, yet he is eligible to play for the USA in international competition. Personally, I don't think of him as being international as he was born in the US Virgin Islands, whereas guys like Mutombo do not have US citizenship.

Fri Dec 27, 2002 10:54 am

That's what I meant, but I'm really not sure about he being considered in the NBA as International. Maybe considered as not born in North America. Anyway, I guess I missed Mutombo, but he's not playing.

Fri Dec 27, 2002 12:31 pm

For what it's worth, Tim Duncan is listed in International Players over at NBA.com. But like I said, because he is eligible to play for the US in international competition, you could exclude him from a poll about international 7 footers. :)

Fri Dec 27, 2002 11:41 pm

Silly NBA.com... why does the U.S. claim land and not count it as part of their country?

Sat Dec 28, 2002 11:39 am

I know what you are saying Andrew, but I just picked up the guys from a current poll in the same site, and they didn't even include him there to voted for. So they don't even know what they are saying, it's like someone from Alaska be considered International just cause you have to go thru another country to get there, or by water. I know you agree with me that he's not supposed to be considered International, but that site or the NBA itself (if they really consider him International) has that error and they just decided to live with it.

Sat Dec 28, 2002 12:30 pm

I voted for Dirk, and I think Yao will catch up with him in a couple of years.

Sat Dec 28, 2002 1:42 pm

I know that Scubilete, I just thought I'd bring it up for the sake of discussion. :)

Sat Dec 28, 2002 3:15 pm

And don't forget about Wang, I am sure he will become a good player sooner or later. I mean this guy used to dominate over Yao, there's gotta be something in him.

Sat Dec 28, 2002 3:24 pm

That may have been due to experience. He is a bit older and more experienced. But now that Yao has developed he would dominate Wang.

Sat Dec 28, 2002 6:48 pm

Man! Up with Yao.

He's really improved to a great player and can anyone tell me why his new nickname is Chairman??

Anyway, he's nearly up to Shaq for Western All-star Center spot and he and Franchise will lead Rockets through Playoffs!!
