They say that Dirk is almost close in beating the Eurobasket all time scoring record. Not bad, but I hope they win against Lithuania

He needs 34 points to beat the record. I doubt he'll get those points against Lithuania. Das but true, I also doubt they manage to win against Lithuania...

Damn guys, don't you just hate France? They sweep EVERYONE in their path! Let's hope Spain show these guys who's the boss because they're way too proud and happy about their victories. They need some humility.

Germany is a tough team to beat, don't underestimate them. If we play like crap and toy around with them instead of playing real basketball, they're gonna win.

The odds are against Germany but I hope they'll get away with a win. They showed great fighting spirit in the 2nd half and even more important Schwethelm finally found his stroke.
If it comes to a decisive game France vs. Spain, I really hope that Spain would win. Nevertheless I'm a little bit worried how Spain broke in in some games. From what I've seen France has really shown some pretty convincing performances...

I'm a bit surprised of how well Macedonia has played until now. I did not expect them to play such a strong tournament after the poor performance in the preparation game against Germany.

Germany is eliminated from the tournament after a 84-75 loss to Lithuania. Best game from Kamen I've seen so far (25 pts/11 rbs). Poor shooting from Nowitzki and a lack of support - excluding only Benzing and Scharffatzik - sealed the fate.
This could've probably been the last game for Nowitzki with the german national team.

@SteveHTOWN, last game for Nowitzki? I doubt it. I think he'll want to break that record and will play for Germany one last time in 2013.

Jasikevicius was our hero! Those alley-oops were sick! :)

Scharffatzik and Benzing were a pain in the ass from behind the arc. But we will see them no more in this tournament ;).

Hey, Uros, that was not ref's fault... that was OUR fault... just the coach suck, the worst performance at free throws, the lack of tendency to play basketball, giving the game winner shot to the guy that played worse (ersan shoot for the game but missed)... don't know bout refs. btw teodosic plays like oscar robertson, he got 8 rebounds

Nowitzki said, he would call it quits if Germany fails to qualify for the olympic tournament. Well, we did not advance to the quarterfinals and thereby failed to qualify for the olympic tournament. There are still slim hopes because some european basketball associations want to change the number of european teams to play at the olympic games. One point they complain at is the composion of the groups for the Eurobasket 2011: one pretty weak group (the one featuring Finland, Slowenia and sorry guys: Macedonia) and one pretty tough group (featuring Spain, France, Lithuania, Serbia, Turkey and Germany). This wasn't the best idea knowing that at least on team of the "tough" group mentioned above won't make it to the olympic games...

iamamac wrote:Jasikevicius was our hero! Those alley-oops were sick! :)

You are definitly right iamamac. Those alley oops were nice to watch. Lithuania in general showed a great passing game. Those outlet passes that initiated the fast breaks were just amazing. IIRC Lithuania scored 16 pts of fast breaks comparing Germany's 0 pts.
I was also impressed by Jonas Valaciunas who recived those nice alley oop passes and has some really sick moves considering that he is just 19 years old.

iamamac wrote:Scharffatzik and Benzing were a pain in the ass from behind the arc. But we will see them no more in this tournament ;).

Well those two guys (and considering his performance against Turkey also Schwethelm) played a great tournament. I was really disappointed by Hamann's performance. He sucked monkey nuts. His passes were so bad. He had no court vision. His shooting sucked. He missed easy layups. He was as much of an offensive threat as ... sorry I just can't find anything to compare because he played so bad...

My friend, curse of "home adventage" continius. Since 1993 and Germany title no host country win title. And a lot of big basketball teams fall in that trap (Yugoslavia 2005, Spain 2007...).

Sorry about that, I am just full of emotion right now... We probably could've pulled off the win if it wasn't for that terrible Songaila's pass after rebound and poor defense on Ilievski, who hit the three.

The refs were terrible and in favor of Macedonia a little... They got away with a backcourt and a foul. We probably got away with a couple of fouls.

And McCalebb? He has NO connection to Macedonia whatsoever. He's a black American and has no relatives from Macedonia. He didn't even play in Macedonia. And yet he was given the Macedonian citizenship. That's plain corruption. This would NEVER EVER happen in Lithuania.

At least we can be proud that our team is 100% Lithuanian. What are you going to buy next year, Macedonia? Maybe Kevin Durant? Or Derrick Rose?

---

I'm not so sure we can beat Slovenia. They did us twice already this year. So goodbye London Olympics!

Lithuania play beautifull basketball but run and gun basketball doesn't bring result in elimination game. Defence is key for good result. Did ref favour Macedonia doesn't metter because Lithuania was able to break them long before 11 sec of 4th quater  . With similar team Lit play in Poland 2009 and was terible, in Turkey they have young team, bronze medal but they didn't continue with that on EB2011. I think that was problem. Of course I understand Lit Federation why they bring back veterans Jasikevicius, Songaila, Lavrinovic etc, there was pressure of home adventage and must won medal (gold) pressure and on other hand there was injury of Kleiza, for me key player of Lit in future. With all respect of Kalneitis, Valanciunas etc Kleiza is the leader of new generation.

McCalebb is Macedonian? Yeah that is the problem. We have teams with low rating bring usa players in rosters and make them better - Logan, Kelathy in Poland, Draper Croatia, Atkins Slovenia, Domercant Bosnia ... But now we have big teams bring usa players, Kaman to Germany, I can't remember name of black point guard in Italy, Holden win title for Russia and now Spain with centar line Gasol-Gasol-Reyes-Vasquez-(Garbajosa) bring Ibaka to roster :| . That's not fair, this is not club compettetion it's national so national players have to play.

Mac I agree, you got to credit the fact that you were 100% Lithuanian. But there is no shame in winning. You got to do everything whats best for you. Also, you cant actually say the refs were terrible, you had the game pretty much.

Suck it, Macedonia! You lost! Feel the wrath of Navarro (aka La Bomba)! Imp N*gger McCalebb is no match for a sniper like Navarro!

Macedonia messed with the wrong guys. They paid for it by losing to Spain. And I'm sure they'll lose to RUSSIA (that is if Russia can get their snipers drilling threes).

---

Now that that's out of the way, I think France will win the Eurobasket. And I hope they do. Spain should not beat us in # of gold medals. We (Lithuanians) are the #1 existing European country that has earned the most gold medals in Eurobasket. Let's stay that way.

Hey man, dont tease with McCalebb,he is a great player. No matter if you are Partizan,Montepachi or Macedonia Bo will get you to top 4 :D
Anyway,I wouldnt want to comment about Serbia right now, since we are a disaster at the moment. The final will be interesting because of NBA stars and I think France will come with the win.It is deserved because they really played like a team the whole tournament.
