Another game that went under the radar so far, but which pretty much promises to be the ultimate zombie game. It's developed by Deep Silver (S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Clear Sky) and Techland (Call of Juarez).
Probably one of the best game trailers I've ever seen:

Bloody awesome trailer. IGN "re-arranged" the trailer and I must say, the original one is perfect.
Read at IGN that it's not a shooter but an action-RPG-survival game.

It's not NOT a shooter. It's a shooter, but "far beyond" the typical shooters with it's melee, role-playing, storytelling, and with the sandbox style, non-linear gameplay. It apparently won't be much of a shooter since there aren't many weapons or ammo on the island. You can pick up objects and use them as melee weapons. Love the "gore" technology. I remember when soldier of fortune 2 had something like that.

wow that looks pretty badass. my roommate would probably like it. he loves zombie apocalypse stories and loves rpgs

That has to be the perfect game for my brother. Huge fan of Left 4 Dead, Dead Rising, Call of Duty Zombie extras...

It's look like all of the famous Zombie games combine into one.

What a fucking drama queen.
It looks like that trailer has made quite a name for itself and now
a Dead Island movie is already announced.

Still pretty amped about this game, here is another trailer (there's still no gameplay footage available at this point, so I hope Deep Silver will release some soon):
It's scheduled to be released on 8/1/11.

I kind of get the same vibe. Might have to keep an eye on this one.

A little rough around the edges, and the chick's voice is really annoying, but it certainly looks promising as hell.
Wed Jun 08, 2011 1:59 pm
i think there's a few different characters to choose from, so you won't have to hear her voice.

Yeah, definitely rough. It looks like there are some control issues. Honestly, it looks a little boring.
Similar video with cuts and a developer talking about the game while he's playing.
I like it a little more after hearing some of his explanations.

I'm hoping it'll be a bit more polished for PC since this is just the PS3 review.

This was a game I was going to get today but unfortunately, Gamestop closed at 6 and I got there at 6:05. Had to go to Best Buy and they didn't have it in stock, ended up buying Madden. From the research I've done, it's a great game. Like PDub said, it's not a shooter but it IS a shooter

Nah, that's just Techland for you.

Right, I figured it'd be rough around the edges coming from them, and mostly with Deep Silver involved... I think I'll still get it from Steam tomorrow though.

picked it up today for ps3, got to play for an hour before work. it's pretty cool. got through the prologue/tutorial type stuff and stopped at the "beginning" of the game where they give you all kinds of sidequests and stuff to do. still gotta figure out how to attack these zombies better.
oh and being able to join and play with 3 others online is pretty awesome. when a zombie goes down, we all surround them and kick the shit out of em

Liking the game so far, it's gorgeous and fun, but it certainly came with its bugs, the major one being that the Steam version is actually the developers build! By pressing Y, you access the "noclips" mode and you can fly all over the place...Looks like it was just patched though. I also wish it would not crash each time upon exiting the game, but oh well.
Great game other than that.
EDIT: well, I spoke too soon. That fucking Steam patch is now keeping me from playing offline, and mostly and it deleted my saved game files...Looks like the devs are well aware of all the issues and should be releasing a real patch soon though.

Why would you not want that?!
Wed Sep 07, 2011 11:26 pm
Not exactly the developers version, but an xbox live certification version. I think that alone shows the truth about the ease of pc ports, since it was completely playable.

Started a new game, and even though there are still some issues (no current way to change the FOV, texture pop-in issues, fucked up checkpoint system), it really is a fun game to play.

You have a 360 or other dual analog controller?
Heard the analog combat is where it really shines, but it's locked if you use the mouse.
