I'm not sure if there are any other Red Dwarf fans around these parts but some new specials
will be airing in April, a couple of them behind-the-scenes stuff but two of them will be regular (new) episodes in which the crew finally make it back to Earth. With the series ending on an unintentional cliffhanger ten years ago and the movie never getting off the ground, I'm looking forward to at least more adventure for the Red Dwarf crew. The cast is getting on a bit though.

cool. one of the funniest shows I've seen.

I got around to watching them last night.
It was kind of a weird experience as I really liked the first part but found myself disliking the surreal, fourth wall breaking aspect introduced in part two, though Rimmer's actions and Kryten's line at the end of the second part was one of the funniest moments in the specials. I did like the eventual reveal though, the Blade Runner references and the way it left things open to fill in the gaps with more specials or better yet, a new series.

It's definitely worth checking out if you're a fan of Red Dwarf. You shouldn't expect it to match their best stuff but it's a welcome addition to the saga.

no laugh track kind of killed it. but still nice to have seen.

I know what you mean. The amount of CGI and blue screen used in the making of the specials probably made a live audience impossible but it would've been nice if they'd taped a laugh track similar to they did in the production of the seventh series. Otherwise I certainly liked it, particularly after the reveal in Part Three.

left me wanting more episodes.

Me too. I've heard rumblings of that, hopefully it's stirred up enough interest to make that a possibility.

Old news, but I somehow missed it back in April. In any case, Red Dwarf is
coming back for a tenth season, which will air next year. Back to Earth is being considered Season 9.
