1st Round

N.I.T Preseason Tip-Off - Madison Square Garden

Image

The Season Opener

ImageWashington vs ImageKentucky

Freshman Center Kyle Wiltjer lived up to all the hype surrounding him, as he scored 24 points, grabbed 9 rebounds and had 6 assist. While he did turn the ball over 4 times, that was largely due to some excellent on-ball defense from the Huskies.

Fellow freshman Marquis Teague looked every bit the future lottery pick yesterday, but today he may have been more impressive. Teague slogged through a tough night shooting from the field (just 4 of 7) but still managed to score 10 points and dished 9 assist.

For the Huskies it was a tough night. Star freshman point guard Tony Wroten had a very disappointing night. Wroten finished the game with just 13 points after hitting just 2 of 14 shots from the field (0-of-4 from three-point range). But went (9 - 10) from the free throw line.

Washington hit just 15 of 46 shots from the field (33.5 percent) on the night. Not a great night for Lorenzo Romar’s squad.

Image Missouri vs Image Tennessee

The Missouri Tigers have a solid chance of making the NCAA Tournament, but the Tennessee Vols have even better odds of reaching college basketball's premier postseason party.
As the Vols win big 84-60...

Image Oklahoma State vs Image UNC
Upset alert!!! The North Carolina Tar Heels fall short again in the NIT Tournament while OSU freshman LeBryan Nash puts up 30pts as the the Tar Heels lose 72 - 66.

Image Texas vs Image St Johns
No real suprise here, St Johns win 81-70.

Image Duke vs Image Michigan State
The #1 ranked freshman Austin Rivers put on a show with 35pts in his debut as the Spartans lose big 83-54.

Image Miami vs Image Michigan
As the ACC - Big Ten match ups continue, the fast pace Hurricanes ran circles around the Wolverines as they win 88-72.

Image Louisville vs Image UCONN
The freshman Wayne Blackshear & Junior guard Peyton Siva combined for a total of 45pts as the Cards win easy 78-57.

Image Clemson vs Image Ohio State
Yet another ACC - Big Ten matchupas the Clemson Tigers upsets the Ohio State Buckeyes 83-69.

And that concludes the first round of the tournament stay tuned for the 2nd round later on today!

Louisville was just struggling from the field early on and Syracuse took advantage with a 54-49 lead at halftime. But late in the 4th Quarter Blackshear perfomred late game heroics as he scored the last 10 points and sealed the win. Louisville wins 111 - 102.
