is it really that awesome? do you have to have glasses or special 3D games?
I'm surprised that we haven't had a blackout yet with all this heat.
it's warm, but normal. i like it. a nice breeze comes through too so it's pretty typical for this time of year. it ain't like triple digits like in the midwest or east coast. as we speak, Jao is sweating like a pig right now.

Did you just call Jao fat?

The past 3 days have been hell. But today, well, today we finally got a "dry" heat, no humid/muggy air. The heatwave breaks tonight for us though, 70s tomorrow

Yeah, its either hot or cold and raining this summer in CA. Last couple days have been pretty nice.
Q, it uses passive technology with circular polarization, so the movie theater glasses work, and it came with four pairs. There are two 3rd party drivers out there to turn almost any game into 3d in multiple formats, with many of them supported by my tv. My ati card also has 3d, but I havent tried it, and my tv isn't officially on the supported tv list, even though it supports all the standard 3d types. 2k11 is nice in 3d.

It's been a cold, rainy week here, so I have to admit I'm kind of envious of a heatwave right now.
Sun Jul 24, 2011 12:26 pm
I swear, some of the people on OS....
Basically, NCAA Football 12 has been getting a lot of heat (which I really don't get) and every little bug has been called a "Game-Killer". Everyone's like how they won't buy NCAA again etc... we all know this is bullshit. It's getting out of hand.

Lucky. It's been 95-100 degrees here all week (most of the summer actually) I can't even play basketball outside after dark, and haven't done so in like a week. It's usually the combination of sun and heat that keeps me from playing basketball during the daytime. This week, I've been checking the weather channel every evening. The heat index has been above 100 AFTER NINE O'CLOCK for most of week. Needless to say, I'm probably out of practice.
At least now I've got 2k11 My Player to keep me busy...

Also, can my parents PLEASE mind their own business? I'm allowed to talk with my future roommate about what to bring next month, right? And don't tell me I've been doing it for hours. It's been 20 minutes. And, no I do not want to read Shakespeare now, I'll be doing that next semester any way. No I'm not going study Calculus this second, either!
Sometimes a huge "SHUT UP!" would work better.
I wish...

lol my convo with my future roommate lasted less than 3 minutes. all you really need to decide is who is bringing their tv and who is bringing their ps3 (well, in my case, ps2). and if you guys want a mini-fridge or not. everything else was provided in the room.

Texas is horrid, I've barely gone to shoot hoops outside. Thank God for gyms!

Meanwhile, it's supposed to hit 82 here today, which would be the hottest it's been all year.
Mon Jul 25, 2011 4:02 am
Hasn't been below 95 here for about 2 months now...
On a side note, this is becoming more of a "how's your weather like?" thread than a "letting off steam" one...
Mon Jul 25, 2011 4:42 am
Weather steam. Either that or nobody ha

s anything to talk about.

Well, when you've got apartment style housing with four guys sharing a bathroom, a living room and a kitchen, there's no room service.

I heard that we have to bring our own trash cans, because the rooms are E-M-P-T-Y before you move in.

Shit bro, it was 80-something here on my birthday. IN JANUARY. We've been calling 92 degrees "a cool front" lately.

Well, that and basketball gripes.
And hey, if the worst we've got to complain about is the weather, life is going alright.

Can't argue with that logic. Apart from the fact I have to do summer reading, I'm a pretty happy man right now.

my sister moved into a situation like that 2 years ago and i helped her move in. they were still provided beds & desks, and couches in the living room, and a microwave, fridge, stove, and dishwasher in the kitchen. so again, there really isn't much to bring but your own personal stuff. i don't know where you were expecting to throw your trash if you weren't gonna bring your own trash can. i thought that was pretty much a given. when i was mailed information about my living situation, the packet included a list of items you should probably bring. by now, that's pretty much something you can just google on your own.
edit: room service?? what?
Mon Jul 25, 2011 9:16 pm
lol jesus christ. HAVE TO BRING TRASH CANS? THE ROOMS ARE EMPTY?!? ROOM SERVICE?!?!?!?!? You have got to be shitting me.
The hell do you expect?
You're lucky you get a private kitchen, all the dorms at the three universities I'm aware of have communal kitchens only in the housing. And some of them still have communal bathrooms. And many places only give you beds and desks because of logistics and how much the student housing scam is in their interests.
You pay for a meal plan, you go to the cafeteria or food court. Or you go to the grocery store for your own damn food.
Or you go to the school owned stores and pay three times the price for a worse selection of goods (nothing fresh!) but charge it to your parents.
Or if your state hasn't "patched the loophole" yet you get a food stamps debit card even if your parents give you $3000 a month and pay for your meal plan because that's not "reported" income. That way you can spend all that cash on booze!
Did you really do no research about this? Like Qballer says they send you more information than you'd ever want to read because 95% of it is obvious but at least half the population are below-average in intelligence. When I did a level of grad school at the same school I did undergrad at they sent me all 5 million pages all over again even though I had already successfully been through their system. Good thing too, I found out there was a library.
"I won't have time to do anything because there will such endless academic rigor and not only will I have to find my own food BUT I'LL HAVE TO THROW AWAY MY OWN TRASH!"
It's true! The four years will be like Cambodia 1975-1979!
And in the end, after making you do all the work, all they do is print something on a fancy piece of paper.
Back out while you still can!

That. smh z02.
Maybe we should all pitch in and give the money collected to z02 so he can hire his own personal butler named Jarvis. Only god knows the inhumanity of an empty room without trash cans and room service and sharing the bathroom, kitchen, and living room with three other guys. People shouldn't be made to endure the horrific cruelty of such living conditions.

in the dorms, 60+ people shared the communal kitchen & laundry room and i had to share my bathroom with 5 other people, but most people in my dorm had 8 to a bathroom.
Tue Jul 26, 2011 6:22 am
100s (3 dorms) sharing 1 kitchen down in the tunnels under the dorm. Bathroom with rest of my hall so about 30 other guys.

Guys, I was joking about the whole room service thing. I was simply responding to Q, who said most of everything was provided. I'm pretty happy with my housing situation.
Tue Jul 26, 2011 10:09 am
Pretty happy? A big lie. How can you be happy when there are no trash cans in your rooms.
Tue Jul 26, 2011 1:45 pm
By bringing my own.
Tue Jul 26, 2011 3:54 pm
Just throw it on the floor.
