The real world threats of terrorism, political anarchy and economic instability make deep incursions into the cinematic comic book domain in The Dark Knight Rises. Big-time Hollywood filmmaking at its most massively accomplished, this last installment of Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy makes everything in the rival Marvel universe look thoroughly silly and childish. Entirely enveloping and at times unnerving in a relevant way one would never have imagined, as a cohesive whole this ranks as the best of Nolan's trio, even if it lacks -- how could it not? -- an element as unique as Heath Ledger's immortal turn in The Dark Knight. It's a blockbuster by any standard.

Hands down, a great Batman movie. Still can't make up my mind if this tops The Dark Knight but damn it, Nolan Brothers, for creating a new standard for superhero films.

The Dark Knight Rises had given me mark-out moments and you know, several "oh shit" reactions with its plot. Other people in the theater perhaps fell asleep, or didn't relate with the film because they didn't see the first two. Also, there were also kids in the theater... that perhaps fell asleep on this one too.

Agreed on it being not TDK-level but fitting to end a great trilogy.

If there's one scene I consider the best one, it's the scene where (SPOILER) Ra's Al-Ghul makes a cameo.

What a waste of Hardy. Even Shinzon got more chances to poorly emote. The ten hour lecture from Bane was so hilariously bad, couldn't stop laughing at that. Nor the jerk temporary commissioner whatever played by Modine's death shot. lololol

Crane was my favorite part. "Very well. Death! By exile."

Second favorite part was the bomb falling out of the truck and the prop clearly not behaving as it was supposed to.

Even with yet another sprawling obese plot of holes and terrible climax, and despite the biggger BIGGGER BIGGER!!! syndrome of the series, it was probably better than both the first part and the side story.

I'll give it probably a 3/5 for now. Up until Bane took over the city it was a 4/5 easily. EDIT: After thinking about it for a bit, maybe Bane and the bomb shouldn't have been involved at all in this film.

I'm also thinking that script mentioned above actually was a draft for this now, especially with that date on it. There's actual characters and proxy characters in it who were never announced and cast even later. The core plot structure is entirely there including a robbery targeting Wayne and the bomb being a Wayne Enterprises secret experiment, even some of the twists are there. It also explains the earlier rumors about The Riddler and why he was replaced by Bane as a way to bring back in The League of Shadows to tie up the two films as a story rather than have three stand alone films.

How long do you think until they announce a reboot? Two years?

If it's a JLA movie you have to wait for the Wonder Woman movie to come out of limbo. That and the new Superman movie in the works.

Again, the official word says this is wrong. And why would they need a Wonder Woman movie first anyway? Just because Marvel did that out of fear for the value of the characters (since they can't use Spider-Man or Wolverine) doesn't mean DC has to when their two biggest properties are involved. It MAKES more sense for them to use a Justice League film to push the later guaranteed Wonder Woman bomb since people will come to see Batman and Superman.

DC Entertainment President Diane Nelson has also said they have no plans to connect future film projects together and will focus on keeping them separate. "We do have a very different attitude about how you build a content slate. And it isn't necessarily about connecting those properties together to build into a single thing. We think we've got great stories and characters that will lend themselves to great standalone experiences, and that's the way we're focusing on it."[33] DC Entertainment Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns has made similar remarks, contradicting earlier statements he made regarding a shared film continuity.[34]

In June 2012, Will Beall was hired to write the screenplay for an upcoming Justice League film, in which Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman will be the main characters.[35][36] There is currently no one signed on to direct the film nor is there any set release date, though there is consideration for release in the summer of 2014.

This is the only DC Comics property currently in any form of pre-production. (Unless you count RED 2.)

Marvel's the one with five thousand films in pre-production.

The old fanboy "rumor", that may have just been made up, was that the Justice League film is what they'd use to cast Wonder Woman and the new Batman for the rebooted series that would come after it. I do wonder if they're waiting to see what happens with The Man of Steel after the Green Lantern bombed and probably derailed plans for that franchise. If it tanks or under-performs then they can dump Cavill and cast a new Superman and use a Justice League film to start from scratch rebooting the entire film universe.
