Losing

how do you deal with failure? failure that isn't like championship failure that you can repeat next year, but a failure that has no second opportunities. :( i mean, really? i'm trying not to feel like a :seriouscat: but it just brings me down

thanks in advance for your answers

sorry for the emo crap, but i don't think i could deal with self-discovery crap

It sounds cliche I know, but I believe it's really just a matter of picking yourself up, dusting yourself off and moving on. Nothing is accomplished by wallowing in self-pity; while it's perfectly healthy to feel disappointed and bummed out in those situations, eventually you've got to put things in perspective, take what you can from the experience so you do your best to avoid making similar mistakes in the future and get on with it. Think of it as a learning experience and move on to the next thing, focus on making that work.

what he said

me: i've got one gear...go.

As a wise man once said:

When i'm sad, i just stop being sad and be more awesome

*may be paraphrased*
all :turrible: jokes aside: You just deal the best you can and hope you have enough support from your friends/family to give you that boost through it. "Life is pain, anyone who says differently is selling something."

Learn from it, so you have a better chance at succeeding next time. Anybody who is successful has failed numerous times.

Indeed. It even became the theme of a Michael Jordan commercial back in the 90s.

i really appreciate the comments here, it's really the ones i've been looking for (i asked for personal advice from my friends, but they're really all "it isn't that bad" but they don't really know how much of a big deal it is for me)

i lost a great game of NBA Live 99  no srsly, i can't really explain it without you guys seeing it, but it's like a 4-year audition process for a position thing, and my batchmates started on year 2, and i started on the 3rd year but it still didn't change a thing, because i've been doing extraordinarily well that i caught up to their level. and when the announcements came, (6 were chosen) i came out as 7th. there can no longer be any next year, damn. and the thing that hurts the most is that i tried too hard

the last few hours, i've been doing really well picking myself up, and i'm starting not to look like an emo puss. shocking, i've expected like a month-load of recovery, but i did it in 3 days, but it doesnt mean that i started not to care about it. it's still lingering at the back of my head though, but it's manageable.

i've been listening to some mellow songs to ease me:

phpBB [video]

phpBB [video]

phpBB [video]

for that awesome hit of nostalgia:

phpBB [video]

phpBB [video]

here's a tear jerker:

phpBB [video]

plus some Kanye songs from 808's and Heartbreaks (you just HAVE to listen to this album if your depressed (Y) )

and the greatest song to guide you on your sadness

there you have it, those songs made my day, but if i keep listening to them, they wouldn't improve my state. i'm going to go listen to hyped-up songs for tomorrow, maybe i'll go crunk, or better yet, DMX the shit out of my anger :headbang:

can anyone give me more hyped-up songs to listen to tomorrow? :)

Sorry to hear that, that's a tough break. Still, there have to be other opportunities out there, things that you can dedicate yourself to, work hard on and enjoy doing. By all means grumble a little about what happened, get it out of your system and work through it, but now's the time to start assessing those other options and opportunities that are open to you.

Denial of confronting the feelings you're having and thoroughly sorting it out. Like you said:
