Player of the Month

Postby C89KF on Thu Apr 22, 2004 7:09 pm

How do you guys actually get a player of the month award?
I did very well in my Minny dynasty and KG was averaging a triple-double in that month but he still didn't get it. WHY? HOW? :?

The same thing happened to me in my Chicago Dynasty. KG averaged a triple double and I went undefeated during the month, yet Paul Pierce was named Player of the Month with inferior stats. I think he might have won it based on blocks and steals, which made his monthly stat line a little more rounded across the five categories. Still, averaging a triple double for a month should secure the honour. I was fairly disappointed, to say the least.

So I guess to answer your question, I don't exactly know, but I'm thinking it has to be fairly impressive (and consistent with the season statistics) across the board.

I'm not sure, but I think it has to do with how many Turnovers and/or fouls you have... when I used the cavs, Lebron was better then any rookie, except his fouls and turnovers were much higher...

I'll see if I can get it, my Tracy Mcgrady is averaging 37.6 pts, 11.0 asst, 11.6 rb, 1.6 blocks and 2.0 steals. If I don't get it I don't know what can!!!

A similar thing happened in my season - I had Bosh, who won Rookie of the Year but never a Rookie of the Month award.

A different take...

Postby HonorGlow on Sat Apr 24, 2004 3:51 am

I think EA realized that the user player stats were going to be quite bias/overinflated in comparison to the other players in the league(and to be honest, don't you agree) so giving that award to the user every month wouldn't really give the user any sense of accomplishment after awhile.

As skewed as it is, I do enjoy this feature though, as it gives you the potential rookie that I will eventually consider trading for OR a sense of who to attack and take to school against the next time you play that rookie or PotM. …I shall call this my 'scout for punishment' function.

I noticed that there is a "MONTHLYMVP" column in the players.dbf.
Perhaps the numbers have something to do with that!

True, but truly exceptional performances (averaging a triple double for a month) should be worthy of the honour.

That's just the number of times a player has been named Player of the Month, if I recall correctly.

No because on the PS2 my friend plays NBA Live and he said he won Ray Allen player of the month 2 times but it's hard he says.

I'm pretty sure in my New Orleans i managed to win it once when i first got Live. With Baron Davis, his stats were good nothing special but i think he had hardly any turnovers in that month.

I think turnovers must be the key then, I couldn't win it despite having Tmac winning Iverson at every stat (including turnovers of course :D) Guess I shouldnt use Tmac as a playmaker in future. :(

on a semi-side note...

Postby HonorGlow on Wed Apr 28, 2004 2:04 am

My Small forward, Elwood, only plays about 15 of 40 minutes then sits downs so that Shaq can finish off(yes Shaq is playing small forward as the Center is 7'6) The weird thing is...he got Rookie of the Year where as all the rest of the All Rookie First Teamers must have at least logged in 30 minutes a game...

...go figure. 2005, please make more sense.
