using retro court and changing players in db commander

i saw someone had a court file that had the old silverdome court for the pistons etc....theres also a classic sourts patch for 08...can i use a court for one team (ex..the silverdome court)and put what i need in from the file...then if i want to go back to the current court just put it back to the current court(im sure i would have to save the current court)?

when i go across to change the team number to 7 it says access violation? how or where do i go to change the # of (ex:) joe dumars to put him on current pistons from 1989-90 season

It's just a matter of backing up the current Pistons court files (detr.viv in the stadia folder and any loose .fsh and .ebo files in the sgsm folder that begin with detr) and switching them in and out with the updated files of the retro court when you want to go back and forth between the two.

I'm not sure why it's giving you an access violation when you try to change the TEAM value to 7 but try just changing his ISHISTORIC value to False and sign him out of the Legends Pool. Alternatively, you can also try changing his TEAM to 50 and sign him out of the Free Agents pool.

could the db commander part be because i have a trial version and haven paid for full use yet?

That is not the problem.I downloaded the trial version and never payed after the trial period ended and i still use it.I am about 99% sure everybody is doing the same thing.There are some things that will not function until you actually buy the whole thing but you do not really need to.

thanks...it worked last night and i put one set of rosters on one side and another on the other side and transferred the players i wanted and it worked finally

I believe a couple of the import/transfer functions. For most of the work we do with DB Commander, we can get by with the limited trial version.

ok i was transferring the players i want from ex: 89-90 rosters to my current and i noticed by using the transfer select records over at the top. that when i went to the game those players instead of being in free agents(i put their team as 50-free agents)they were on teams and my rosters i had already current we're all messed up..what can i do to pu the dumars,cooper players from 89 season to be in free agents and not mess up my rosters?i even went in and filled in false at the beginning in the db commander on the players line across.also when i went to the game and clicked on ex:joe dumars to view his information the screen was blank and nothing

If you transfer players, make sure they have unique PLAYERID numbers. Otherwise, you'll get some strange errors.

ok so i can transfer them..how do i give them an id number?..if i do that will they not show up like they we're doing and be in free agents?

When you're copying them across, they will have a PLAYERID value already. My guess is that there are some duplicates though, so for any players you transfer across, just change their PLAYERID to the next available one. For example, if the last player in the roster you're copying to has a PLAYERID of 3500, assign an ID of 3501 to the first player you're copying across (and so on).

oh ok..im using the roster from last year and transferring from the legends files with the pack..ex:89-90 pistons i transfer dumars,edwards etc..try not to transfer any that are already on the other roster.

Then I'd say there definitely might have been some overlap and duplicate PLAYERID values. Make sure every player has a unique PLAYERID and all should be right.

ok thanks..how would i know if they are a duplicate when i transfer?

Run a search in the PLAYERID column. If you find the same ID number assigned to another player, you'll need to change the ID for the player you're copying across.

how do i search or where on the db do i do that before i transfer records over

i just looked at the player id's in the current orster i use and the 89-90 and i see where the numbers from most of whom i transfer or will transfer exthe last # is 3457 and most of the ones i will transfer are 3458 and up..so that should be ok if i change the team to 50 for free agents?..so all the other areas of the player like salary etc i dont have to add in a # where there is not a #?i was doing that thinking it will match the players in their already

Move to any cell in the PLAYERID column and press Control-F or select the Find option from the Edit menu.

ok i found that..it pulls up a window and do i type in the text to find? or how does it tell me if theres a duplicate

Yes, you need to type in what you want to look for.

ok so i think i got this..i go to joe dumars click the find over in my current roster and check for him?...or do i type in the id # and check in opposite column?

Check Joe Dumars' PLAYERID in the roster you are copying from. Go to the roster you're copying to, try to find that value in the PLAYERID column using the Find function, as described above. If there is no conflict, copy the data over as normal. If there is a conflict, copy the data over and then change the PLAYERID to the next available number (eg if the last ID number in the database is 3500, give Dumars an ID of 3501).

most of the players that are in the 89-90 roster who are not duplicates like brent barry is in both..the dumars etc in the first column (deleted) theres nothing in there..the players in my current roster it says deleted in that column?..does that matter at all?
