Discussion about NBA Live 2004.

I've released v1.07 of the current roster update for NBA Live 2004, and you can download it
here.
New in v1.07:
- 2003/2004 Rosters, updated through April 17th, 2004
- 2004 Playoff Rosters
- 2004 Playoff Bracket replaces default Playoff Bracket
- A lot of player ratings and positions updated for better substitution patterns
- A lot of player ratings updated for better simulated and in-game performance
This probably won't be the last version of the NLSC roster update for the 2003/2004 season, as I'm sure there will be some lineup changes during the playoffs.

Once again Andrew, exceptional work and thanks for working diligently on these rosters. Quick question: Since I've made several personal adjustments and updates(headbands, skintone changes, etc, etc) to your last roster release I'd much prefer to stick with what I'm currently using. Due to your new release I'm contemplating making the switch, but only if you've made SEVERAL substancial rating adjustments, etc to the roster. Would you say that is the case this time compared to the last?
Honestly, the best solution imo would be to incorporate your changes to my existing roster. Any chance that you have a list of most of the changes made to this new roster?
Either way, congratulations and way to continue in the strong tradition of Tim and lutz.

Thank's Mr Andrewson...
Calveen, i have this same problem too, i've made several changes in all players, so, this one will be my last roster, cause this one will reflect the players with the season end ratings and update, the most important one imo.

Thanks for the comments guys.
Calvenn, if you've made several changes based on the bands that players are actually wearing these days, I'd be quite happy to update the rosters to reflect the changes, since that would add a little more realism to the update.
Sorry, I don't send patches via email. The rosters are available to download from the website, please consult the
Downloads FAQ for FilePlanet instructions.

Nice update, Andrew. I only wished you provided an Uninjured roster instead of the Final Night one.
And one more thing: would it be possible to change the records of the teams in the game to reflect their new end of season records? Are you planning to feature that in your next update?
Thu Apr 22, 2004 8:14 pm
I wasn't planning on doing that, but it's easily done.

I was able to transfer excel columns from your new roster to my old one. So far, this has allowed me to circumvent the previous limitation and I'm now able to incorporate your changes into mine without the worry of losing all my painstaking adjustments
Anyhow, I haven't tried this for season rosters, but I don't foresee any setbacks if one were to apply the same principle. Has anyone tried this yet? If so, have you encountered any problems? So far I must say that the roster is working wonderfully!!

As long as you only copy the appropriate columns, there shouldn't be any problems. Older versions of Excel would corrupt DBF files when saving the changes, but there shouldn't be any problems using the more recent versions of Excel. Still, you should always make a backup of your season if you're going to tinker with the DBF files, and check for errors (ie simulating to the end of the season and through the offseason) before continuing to play season games.

Yes, this works quite well, but I have only applied it to a regular roster before proceeding to a full season. "Backup" is my middle name my job as a network specialist has made it second nature
Anyhow, I certainly am relieved to discover this process of data transfer.

That's good to know.

Even though I take no responsibility for lost data, I don't like to see anyone lose their saved games installing the roster patch or transferring data from it.

Andrew, I have a question for you. I was recently playing a game against the Spurs and noticed that Turkoglu was rated at 90 for 3pt shooting? Is this accurate or a mistake? I know he is good, perhaps in the lower to mid 80's, but this was surprising to say the least. If you can, please let me/us know the justification for such a high rating. (Btw, this gives him the best 3pt % along with V. Lenard)
Thanks.

I was asked to raise his rating as he was leading the league in three point field goal percentage during the regular season. Lenard's rating was raised as he was a participant in (and the winner of) the three point shootout at the All-Star Weekend.

Thanks Andrew

I guess the man has been on fire this year hasn't he? I wasn't aware of this, but I already knew of Lenard's performance. We truly appreciate the update.

Peja's rating will be raised in the next update, I actually thought he was rated a little higher in three point shooting.

Oh man, It pisses me off that I can't enjoy a roster update like this. It's because I have no time to play exhibition games, but only my dynasty.
I of course download it anyway, but still it sounds good and I've looked at the DBF files and noticed some great changes. So, good work Andrew, no wait, great work!!

I won't be adding any more custom teams until the offseason, and I won't be adding each year's champions to the current roster update. That's another patch all by itself, and it would make the current roster patch too big a download. 80 is way too high for Duncan's dribbling rating. I will review the other ratings you mentioned.

Andrew,
What's the difference between the 0304NLSC roster and the 0304Final roster that come with your roster patch? At first, I assumed that the 0304Final was representative of what the rosters looked like at the end of the season and that the 0304NLSC was kind of like the old Uninjured roster you used to include. However, looking over some of the starting line-ups I noticed that this is not the case (R. Wallace isn't a starter for Detroit in 0304NLSC). So, would you please explain what the difference is between the 0304NLSC & 0304Final rosters.
Also, would you consider adding an Uninjured roster again, where we can play with all of the marquee players on each particular team (Grant Hill, Scottie Pippen, etc.)? Also, would you consider changing the team records so that they can reflect how they performed this season?
Thank you
