Cavs @ Jazz

Postby Cruzerr on Tue May 17, 2011 3:55 am

Cleveland takes another victory, Jazz lose their 16th straight

Image

First Quarter

While Cleveland was coming off a huge win against the leaders in the West, Lakers, Utah had to hope that they would not get their 16-th straight loss. Sadly, things did not start for their favor, as the Cavaliers took a quick 11-2 lead and tried to hold it. Suddenly, their newly traded point guard Devin Harris took a huge run, propelling them into a 13-13 tie. Cleveland did not let them pass, but with 3 minutes left to play, Jazz took the lead and made it a 6 point differential. At the end still, Cleveland came back and DeRozan hit a buzzer to take a two point lead.

Clevelands top scorer : B.Griffin 10 PTS 2 REB 2 AST 3 STL
Utahs top scorer : D.Harris 11 PTS 2 AST 2 STL

Second Quarter

It started off really dull, as the first points came in the eight minute. Quarter itself however was interesting, as both teams changed leads and none of them got away to far. The lead was always in a three point deficit. With a three minutes left on the clock, Parker started to go wild, but with him, newly traded Jazz player Jason Smith went on a craze too. The game stayed on three points, as the half finished 56-53.

Clevelands top scorer : A.Parker 14 PTS 1 REB 1 BLK
Utahs top scorer : 11 PTS 6 AST 2 STL

Third Quarter

Something different to the second, it started off really great. Cleveland took a quick lead and lead it to double-digits. As for the power of the Jazz, it did not really show until Hayward took a quick three and Millsap making a huge dunk on Griffin to get the game to five. After that, it stayed at five with both teams trading buckets, but not trading leads. The quarter finished 80-75.

Clevelands top scorer : A.Parker 22 PTS 1 REB 1 AST 1 BLK
Utahs top scorer : R.Price 17 PTS 2 REB 4 AST 1 STL

Forth Quarter

As Utah came off really motivated, it showed, as they took the lead and made it theirs with two points. On the other side, DeRozan stepped up and got the game back tied. When that was not enough, Hayward started to shoot threes and got the game back to six. But when Parker got the ball, he hit a three and some huge plays from Davis, they got the game back and even went on a 18-6 run, as they won the game in double-digits, 104-94.

Press Conference :

"Coach Sloan, how do you feel about this team?"
"Too be honest, I dont know what I am doing wrong. I have motivated this team so much that I am truly tired. I think I saw Harris crying in the locker room."

"Williams, what happened with you today?"
"Well, as you know, I am injured and I really felt it. Jazz has a lot of huge players and with my sore ankle, I am not contributing as I would like to."

Conclusion :
While this win really helps the Cavs to get in front of the Pacers and Heat, no matter how many games the Jazz win, they will not make the playoffs. In all honesty, I think they should hope for a nice lottery pick.

Grandmama Johnson, Well, they will be really happy with their draft pick, considering that the top 5 will be pretty awesome players.

KidJustin, Well, Im pretty sure that they will stop somebody, but who knows.

Cavs @ Thunder

Postby Cruzerr on Wed May 18, 2011 10:59 pm

Barons game winner and Parkers career high as Clevelands edges Thunder

phpBB [video]

First Quarter

As Thunder was coming off a loss against the Clippers, they really needed a home victory to get things going. But considering that their game would be against the Cavaliers, things would not seem really easy. However, Oklahoma was able to take a quick 6-2 lead, but with Blake Griffin stepping up, the game got tied in a hurry. Lead was always a 1-2 point, as both teams were on each others heels. But when there was three minutes left to play, Thunder went on a run to take the game to double-digits. Cleveland however could not get back, as it finished 29-21.

Clevelands top scorer : B.Griffin 7 PTS 4 REB 1 STL
Thunders top scorer : K.Durant 6 PTS 2 REB 1 AST 2 STL

Second Quarter

Things got out of the gate slowly. Both teams were still scoring pretty evenly. However, when DeRozan came in, he got the job done, taking the game from twelve to six. But it only took two minutes for the Thunder, to get the game back and even raise it to 19. Cavaliers were trailing pretty badly, but Anthony Parker also stepped up, as he got the game to single digits. Thunders big-men, Ibaka and Perkins, were on fire, but Perkins scored well too, as he finished with 11 points. At the half, the game was 57-45.

Clevelands top scorer : A.Parker 13 PTS 1 BLK
Thunders top scorer : K.Perkins 11 PTS 2 REB 2 STL

Third Quarter

As Cleveland was still holding on, Oklahoma came out more confident than ever. The started off really great and kept on going as they got the game to a 25 point lead. As there was seven minutes left to play, Cleveland turned it around and kept on firing to get back into the game. As it ended 69-80, Cleveland was really confident and the players looked like they could dominate the last quarter.

Clevelands top scorer : A.Parker 19 PTS 1 REB 1 AST 1 BLK
Thunders top scorer : K.Durant 19 PTS 5 REB 3 AST 2 STL 1 BLK

Forth Quarter

Things went even worse as Durant was on fire. As Durant did not play the first four minutes, he came in and scored 28 points, as he finished with 47 points. But, as Cleveland knew that they have to turn it around, they did. Blake Griffin managed to destroy the big-men as he had 22 and 11 rebounds. But his great play was not the biggest reason. DeMar DeRozan started destroying as he had 24 points against Harden. But his play was also not the reason for the win. Anthony Parker went on fire as he scored 20 points and finished off with a career high 39 points, also five threes. But as Westbrook hit two free throws, somebody needed to pick up. And as you saw from the video (if you did not, check out the video under the title), it was Baron Davis, who finished the game.

Press conference :
"Baron, you hit a buzzer when it was needed the most. Although your game was not stellar, you certainly stepped up back then. Is hitting buzzers a usual thing for you?"
"If it is needed, heck yeah. I can hit buzzers from everywhere, and that's why I am made. We had a pretty tough game, Thunder is no joke. Comparing to the Lakers, these guys were tougher."

"Durant, you had a huge game. How do you feel about that, even though you did not win?"
"Dude, I was balling. This game was just a buzzer beater game, so I could not feel bad about it. About my game, I felt that I was clicking. I am one of the better players of the league, and my team is great."

Conclusion :
This game might have been a bit bad for the Thunder as the playoffs spots are really tight in the West, but for Cleveland, this is a huge motivator, as they want to take the number one seed off the Heats.

Draft Combine

Postby Cruzerr on Thu May 19, 2011 4:45 am

We are at it again folks, get ready for the Draft Combine !

Image

Alright, now, how many center have been we talking about ? Huh ? I will tell you. NONE ! I have not seen a Center that could do something this whole time. Now, out of nowhere, a striving Center, who has some vicious defensive skills, comes up to the table. Yes, it is Carl Cruise- this years best Center pick by far. If he would not be, should we talk about him ? Now, this guys offensive skills might need a bit work, but what comes to his defense, he will dominate you in the paint. As I could not say no to this guy, I had to get an interview from him.

How did you get into basketball ? Did you play other sports ?

I got into basketball when I was 8.I grew up Idolizing big men like Shaq and Hakeem the Dream.I used to play football but never really got into it.

Who motivates you the most ? Friends, family, an NBA player or a coach ?

My family and friends.Especially my cousins who all taught me how to play basketball the right way and my friends for believing that I could make the NBA someday.

Who are your 3 most favorite players in NBA?

I would say Ben Wallace,Joel Anthony and Dwight Howard are my current favorites because of their defense. For all time favorite it would me Hakeem Olajuwon.

What team is your favorite ?

I like the Orlando magic a lot. I wish I could play there with me at the 4 and Dwight(Howard) at the Middle.

What player do you want to play with sometime in NBA ?

Someone whos good in the post or someone who likes to attack the basket so I can block their shot. That way I'll become famous and those guys will think twice before attacking the basket or posting up on me again.

What kind of draft pick are you hoping for ?

I dont care where I get drafted or when I will get drafted.I just want to Play to win and I think alot of NBA teams will be interested on the qualities that I will bring to their team

Have you ever thought about playing in a college before heading to the NBA?

Actually I Did go to college but stopped and played a brief stint in the PBA.Then I decided that I can make it to the NBA based on the support I get from my teammates.

How are your teammates ?

They weren't really good but they got easy points because of my defense. Our point guard even led the league in scoring because all he had to is wait down the other court while I block some weak ass shot or grab the rebound off a miss and throw an outlet pass to him

What is your biggest strength ?

Some say my blocking skills some say my rebounding in both ends.In my opinion its my blocking because when I was a Kid I was already good at blocking shots even my match up is taller or faster than me.

Little Update

Postby Cruzerr on Fri May 20, 2011 12:07 am

Solomon Alabi gets waived as Clevelands signs D-Leaguer Ivan Johnson

Image Image Image

Today, 12 AM in the morning, the team owner Dan Gilbert and Coach Byron Scott have confirmed signing a Erie Bayhawks player named Ivan Johnson, a D-Leaguer at the age of 20. For now, they have signed him on a one year contract, earning 994K. As of this, the player that Cleveland got from the trade Solomon Alabi got waived. " We are very exited to bring in some fresh blood. The boy is young and could have a solid career." Ivan himself however seemed even more confident :" I think in the next few years, I could be the face of this team." Johnsons debut is not been confirmed, but it will probably happen in the game against Trail Blazers.

Why I got him : As I really did not need Alabi and a PG does not hurt in my team, I was pretty amazed about him. He is still young and with an overall of 67, he could be pretty good.

Dwayne Wade injured

Image

As one of the leading teams in the East, Miami lose their leader. Dwyane Wade, one of the better players in the run of the MVP candidate, has just taken an huge injury, as he will miss quite a lot of games. Wade himself however did not seem very worried, as he said :" I have the toughest teams in the East, why should I be worried? I am sure that LeBron and Bosh can lead this team and dominate both Cleveland and Pacers." Wade is the leader but with James and Chris Bosh behind him, we will see, how this team handles without Dwayne.

Pau Gasol injured

Image

Another player taking a step down is Pau and it does not look good for the Lakers, as the playoff spots in the West are totally open and things could change in 2-3 games. Gasol has sprained his foot and needs some time off the court. With having one player down, Kobe replied on twitter, saying : "This does not look good. We need everything that we can get."

Another Trade

ImageImageImageImage

As Shawn Marion wanted to get out of the Mavs, things seem even worse, as he and DeShawn Stevenson got traded for Rip Hamilton from the Pistons.
