I think it's safe to say I've had a good week:
 Finally finished my high school senior project.
 I made an A on it!
 My high school career feels like it's over.
 I got a huge scholarship.
 I am officially a Cock.

why in the hell would you go out of state to South Carolina when you have awesomely better and cheaper schools in NC?

Grats either way. Remember, finishing high school means you showed up though. College takes a little more effort.

Despite another earthquake hitting Christchurch yesterday (only a 5.3 mind you), my second cousin is doing well. Unfortunately she can't sit in wheelchair atm since they took so much of pelvis but apparently they're going to make some special device to allow her to be able to use a wheelchair (Y)

Its practically impossible to get tickets unless you camp out for a week (skipping class in the process. Illinois was great for a couple years while I was there and i never could get to a game.

It's where I got in, also they gave me in-state tuition rates.
I didn't just "show up" in high school. I do what I have to do to get A's and B's in my classes and I have to keep that up in college, because my scholarship is gone if I drop below a "B" average.
Qballer wrote:yeah wake forest & UNC (Duke sucks :p) although it would be really cool to go to a school with A good bball team like that and go to a game.

Again, I didn't even try to get in to those places. They require like a 4.0 with a 2100 SAT or something along those lines, something I just don't have.

That sounds terrible, but it's good to know she's still alive; that's probably a miracle in itself and I hope she makes it thorugh.

oh man i had to save myself in my interview for the valet job at Disney. all the questions were pretty generic, easy questions but then they asked if i knew how to drive stick

my reasoning for telling the truth was so that if i eventually do fuck up on the job, i would have an excuse

i said yes, i learned just about 10 years ago, and she specifically asked when was the last time and i repeated the same answer, about 10 years ago. then she takes a few minutes to get the paperwork ready and calls me back in. she said i answered the questions fine, but she was concerned that i "wasn't comfortable driving a stick shift" and i was thinking "WHOA, i did not say i wasn't comfortable" and then i thought "oh i am so FUCKED right now" and so i had to defend myself and said that i LEARNED 10 years ago, but i do drive my friends' cars on occasion and that the last time was 3 years ago. if i was interviewing for any other company besides disney, i wouldve been screwed by changing my story. she apologized for "mishearing" what i said

so she said she'd get back to me for a 2nd interview and would contact me by tomorrow.

yeah they've already told me twice at the interview that i need to shave. once by the video they show you beforehand about the history of the company and "The Disney Look" (no tattoos, clean shaven, etc) and also once by the interviewer. the video did say you are allowed to have a mustache but it can't go past the edges of your top lip

If we're to believe a common accusation made of Disney, they might have a particular mustache in mind.

Wal-Mart was ditching some discontinued knives from the Farberware Platinum brand. Considering the most expensive was $13 they're beyond epic. Just rip through everything. Even if I have to hand wash them because of that. Got Chef and Santoku ones.

Although having knives that do go through things instantly is a great way to cut off flesh and fingernails. So that's fun!

We usually buy ours at Marshalls, they're fairly cheap too, along with decent pans. For silverware type of knives, I'd recommend the Laguiole ones.

so i got the job but not the one i wanted. instead of being the floater (guy that does a little bit of everything including valet) at the higher end hotel they have at Downtown Disney, i got a full-fledged valet job at the one across the street. but in 4 months i can possibly try to transfer to a valet spot at the hotel i want to. im gonna get someone to help me remember/learn how to drive a manual transmission this weekend. in about a week in a half, i will be working full time for the 1st time in 2 years...

the dude that did my 2nd interview was pretty much sleepwalking through my interview. seemed like he was going through the motions. this had to be the easiest job interview process ever

i'm still doing graphic design on the side (for free) and eventually i hope to gain enough experience to be able to make a living off of graphic design work alone, but for now, Disney will be signing my checks.
