Luis Chase's career-high 31 points lifted the Sonics past the Wolves on Thursday.

Sonics split two-game road trip, Chase explodes in Minnesota
Sonicsfan88 for Sonics.com

Our Supersonics squad went on the road for two games against the Wolves and the Bulls and were able to grab at least one win, against the Timberwolves. The Sonics are still without Tyreke Evans, who is out with a separated shoulder and will return next week.

Offensive fire @ice-cold Minneapolis

Without Tyreke Evans and Donte Greene, who both stayed @Seattle dealing with their injuries, the Sonics had a tough time arriving at Minneapolis. Due to blizzards all over the state, the Sonic's flight arrived over an hour later than planned and the team had no chance for a shoot around before the game. Fans wouldn't notice though, as the Sonics as well as the Wolves started off hot.

The Wolves were able to grab an eleven point lead in the 1st after simply shooting the lights out @Target Center. Michael Beasley scored 12 of his 17 points in the first quarter and the Wolves only missed four shots.

In the 2nd quarter though, the Evans-less Sonics tightened up on defense and were able to keep their offensive pace. Luis Chase and co were able to cut the deficit to two at the half. Jarvis Hayes had 12 points at half leading the Sonics, Rip Hamilton scored 15 of his 28 in the first half.

In the second half both teams kept shooting the ball and hitting shots. The Wolves, who hit 21 of their 24 freethrows in the game, build a four point lead after three quarters. This was when Luis Chase errupted.

Coming into the game with a bruised rip, the small point guard who had been on the cover of the Sports Illustrated last week, started heating up. He pushed his team to a 34-point quarter, scoring 15 of his career-high 31 points in the fourth.

"He was so aggressive, it was tough to stop him. I did not notice that he was injured", Minnesota point guard Jonny Flynn, who had 13 points and 7 turnovers in the game, said.

Chase ended the game with 31 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists and 2 steals, shooting 11-18 from the field and 9-13 from the charity stripe.

But it was Delonte West's three pointer with 40 seconds left on the clock that served as a neckbreaker for the T-Wolves, as the Sonics gained a two point lead. West did a good job replacing Tyreke Evans as he scored 14 points and added 3 boards and a steal.

Omri Casspi, who had back-to-back explosions vs New Jersey and Detroit, scored 15 points and Jarvis Hayes added 22 points on 5-6 shooting from downtown.

The only flaw of the night for Seattle was the fact that Jason Maxiell once again rolled his right ankle, the same he had rolled against the Thunder and had to leave the court. He is listed day-to-day.

Image
The Bulls were too much for the rising Sonics

Getting beaten up by the Bulls

After the win against the 6-6 Wolves, the Sonics had no rest at all and moved on to Chicago. Once again having to deal with the snowy chaos in Minnesota, the Sonics' had to pay for their efforts at Minnesota.

Standing at 6-3, the Bulls were too much to handle for Seattle. Derrick Rose, who came in the game averaging 24.1 points and 6.7 assists per game, shooting a career-best .47% from down town, scored 21 points and dished out 8 assists.

But it was Carlos Boozer who seemed unstoppable for the Sonics. Boozer had 8 of his 12 boards on the offensive end and scored a game-high 26 points.

The Sonics were outrebounded 35-58 by the Bulls, which can also be attributed to the fact that Jason Maxiell only logged in 14 minutes due to his sprained ankle.

For the Sonics Omri Casspi scored 18 off the bench and Demarcus Cousins added 12 points and 4 boards. Luis Chase once again showed his inconsistency scoring only 5 points and adding 5 assists.

The only real highlight of the game wasn't that positive at all. It were Bulls Coach Tom Tibodeau and Sonics rookie Dillon Rogers almost going at each other after Rogers fouled Rasual Butler hard in the fourth quarter.

"We were leading by 20 points and then this punk gets out and throws down Rasual (Butler), who injured his lower back during the scene. I can't understand that and I hope he gets banned for it", Tibodeau was transported with the whole scene.

Rogers went on to Tibodeau and threw some words before getting tossed out of the game. He did not want to talk to the media after the incident.

"He was throwing some f-words. He's not a smart kid and was frustrated with the loss", Tibodeau added.

The Bulls went on to win the game 89-114 and grab their seventh win of the season. The Sonics stand at 3-10 after the game and will host the Sixers, Hornets and Suns next week.

Take a look at Luis' game highlights against Minnesota down low.

So far, take care, Sonics fans!

The 10-1 Miami Heat will host the 7-4 Los Angeles Lakers tonight @Miami in a matchup between Kobe Bryant and LeBron James (take a look at their stats above).

It will a special meeting as LeBron James, the league's leading scorer already announced that the Lakers "should fear" the Heat. James argued that the Lakers only had luck against the Celtics last year and could not have taken down the Heat if they had met in the Finals.

Kobe Bryant kept cool about the whole dispute telling the media that he doubts "that last year's finals were lucky at all."It was hard work and I think that is what the Heat are missing", Bryant went on.

Further Bryant added that he thinks "LeBron has lost the ground below his feet a bit." "He's saying things a down-to-earth boy wouldn't say." "Maybe he takes off a bit because he is lacking the heavy jewelry on his fingers to keep him on the ground", Bryant gave James a side blow.

Kobe, right now third in scoring in the league, won his sixth ring last year compared to James' still ringless fingers.

The Lakers were able to turn around an 0-3 start into a record of 7-4. They won seven in a row before loosing to the Magic two days ago.

Miami, who has all three All-Stars scoring over 20 points per game, won nine games in a row before loosing to the Nets at Prudential Center. Right now, the Heat stand first in the East with 10 wins and one loss.

Dwyane Wade has been struggling recently though. Wade only averages 21.5 points per game on .45% shooting this season.

"He could be shooting better, but seeing his scoring going down is just a sign of how much he wants to win. Dwyane does different stuff than scoring for us", Coach Spoelstra said.

Bryant's supporting cast is once again led by Spaniard Pau Gasol, who averages 19.4 points, 12.1 boards and 2.7 assists per game.

Turn on your TV tonight at 8 pm when the Heat host the Lakers, live on ABC.

Surprising to see the Wolves at .500, but Luis Chase put them back under that mark where they belong. Looking at Kobe's and LeBron's stats, LeBron looks like the better player everywhere, but Kobe's a much much better trash-talker. :P

Justine., thanks man. The POTG Vid is pretty dope, with all that color change etc :)

Sit, his work with MJ really took his shooting to another level. Not his 3pt shooting though. In the game, he' s still a beast offensively.

Lamrock, thanks. The Wolves are pretty mediocre but not bad. Since acquiring Rip, they really work as a team and narrowly missed the Playoffs. Right now they are at .500.

Axel., well, LeBron is having a sick season so far, but he also plays a lot more minutes than Mamba. As I said before, the Wolves are pretty ok in this D, Chase owned them :)

Houndy, he is, thanks man.

Thierry •, BronBron is in his prime. Kobe actually seems beyond his prime. I hate to play both, just unstoppable scorers.

shadowgrin, Mamba's talk > LBJ's talk

Thanks for the replies guys, I actually wanted to up the Heat-Lakers recap tonight, but I was watching Schalke crushing Inter and thus didn't get it done. Will post it tomorrow. Stay tuned.

"The Black Mamba" vs "The King" - LeBron's 28 helped the Heat winning the new East-West rivalry

LeBron's MVP-performance propels Heat over Lakers

Box Score

MIAMI, NOVEMBER 18th (AP) - LeBron James scores 28 and Dwyane Wade adds 27 points to counter Kobe's 34 and beat L.A. at Miami.

"A whole lot of stuff has been said before this game, but I think we let our game do the talk tonight", a pumped LeBron James said right after the Heat's win over the Lakers.

Sweat was still dripping from his head and "The King" had a big smile on his face. "I think we showed the balance of power in this league tonight", he added and then he walked to the locker room, right past Kobe Bryant, not even looking at the Laker's topscorer.

It was definitely an MVP-performance LeBron put up for the Heat, who are now 11-1 and remain the best team in the league. James scored 28 points, added 7 rebounds, 9 assists, 3 steals and a block. He also was perfect from down-town (3-3) and hit 11 of his 20 shot attempts.

Image

The Heat began the game strongly. Miami grabbed a 14-6 lead in the first and limited the Lakers to only two field goals after their first eight attempts. Los Angeles only hit .26% of their shots in the first and Kobe Bryant only shot 1-7 from the field.

Dwyane Wade had 9 points in the first quarter and LeBron James added 8 to give the Heat a 13-26 lead.

In the 2nd quarter however, the Lakers managed to get back into the game. Kobe Bryant scored 14 points and was able to tie the game at 34 with a mid-range jump shot over Dwyane Wade.

The Heat withstood Kobe's scoring though and went on a 10-2 scoring run to end the 2nd quarter with James hitting two straight threes. Miami led by 9 at the half and held a 26-15 rebound advantage.

In the third, the Lakers once again tied the game thanks to two Andrew Bynum freethrows, but foul-trouble and turnovers limited the L.A.'s chances to grab the lead. Pau Gasol struggled with fouls during the 3rd quarter and only hit 5-12 from the field in the game.

Mike Miller, who added 11 points in 10 minutes off the bench, ended the 3rd quarter with a buzzer beating three from 26 feet out. The Heat led by five, but the game never seemed as close as one could think.

Although Kobe Bryant tried everything to keep his Lakers in the game (34 points, 13-27 from the field), the Lakers fell down by 10 after a hot start from the Heat. Dwyane Wade scored 8 points in a row and Chris Bosh, who had to deal with foul problems, hit two mid-range shots to give the Heat a lead they would not blow.

For the Lakers, it looks like they definitely need another big man to help out when Pau Gasol struggles. The Spaniard only scored 10 points and grabbed 13 boards. Andrew Bynum looked solid, but tended to shoot the ball too much only shooting 5-14 from the field (he was 9-10 from the charity stripe though).

Kobe Bryant, the game high man, said that "we have to win the easy games now and then things will come to us". He did not want to talk about his LeBron-feud though.

All in all, it was a pretty broad issue in Miami and the Heat look like the best team in the league right now. Check LeBron's highlights below.

Lamar Odom had 10 points and 6 boards off the bench ... point guard Mario Chalmers of the Heat had a team-high 9 rebounds ... Valor, well, don't forget this is the 2011/2012 season, and if you take a look at the rosters, I really find the Heat better. They have the deeper bench. Kobe's getting older, LeBron's in his prime. I did not sim the game, I played it.

Thierry •, I totally understand that ;) btw the Spurs really suck since Manu decided to be a triple-double threat :)

Martti., :D I have to say the D-Wade dunk in your avatar was one of his most impressive ever (btw) :)

Axel., ye it was a nice animation. Spin move layup and Kobe just was in the way :)

Valor, ye, 7-5 is a bit hard, but since their 0-3 start they did pretty well actually. They were the 2nd best team in the league last year and I really take pride in the fact that my D had realistic results so far. I hope it will stay like this ;)

Sixers vs Sonics, Knicks, John Wall, Kevin Durant, LeBron James, Rockets vs Lakers

NBA.com wrote:
Sixers beat Sonics, Chase down with injury

The Philadelphia 76ers were able to get over .500 after beating the Supersonics on the road 106-96.

For Philly, it was the fourth win in the last five games, while the Supersonics now have dropped two straight against Eastern Conference teams.

Last year's top-rookie Evan Turner had 30 points and 10 rebounds and Andre Iguodala added 26 points for the 76ers.

For Seattle, Demarcus Cousins had 24 points and 11 rebounds and Donte Greene came back scoring 12 points and adding 10 boards after missing 10 games with a back injury.

The Sonics still have to deal with injuries though. Luis Chase left the game in the 3rd after getting hit on his injured chest. Jason Maxiell missed the game with ankle problems and Tyreke Evans is still out for at least a week.

NBA.com wrote:
Knicks fall to Raptors, .500

The New York Knicks are still missing Chauncey Billups who is out recovering from his broken hand and can't manage to get over .500 these days.

This time, the Knicks lost to the Toronto Raptors (5-9) as Andrea Bargnani scored 31 points and grabbed 5 boards.

Amar'e Stoudemire had a team-high 26 points and Carmelo Anthony added 18 on 7-22 shooting, but the Knicks only had 16 assists and 14 turnovers to loose the game 100-92.

Number one pick Lance Meredith recorded his fourth career double-double (12p/10r), but only shot 5-15 from the field.

NBA.com wrote:
Despite Wall's stellar play, Wizards keep loosing

Sophomore point guard John Wall keeps improving for the Washington Wizards, but the team hasn't been able to reward the co-Rookie of the year with wins.

Wall had 31 points and 12 assists against Minnesota, 26 points and 10 assists vs Chicago and 29 points and 9 dimes in the most recent loss against the Grizzlies at home.

For the season, Wall is averaging 23.4 points, 3.6 rebounds, 9.4 dimes and 2.2 steals per game. He is shooting .512% from the field.

"Except his turnovers and his three point shooting, he is definite All-Star calibre", TNT analyst Charles Barkley said recently. Wall is shooting .262% from down town and averages 3.3 turnovers per game this season.

NBA.com wrote:
James, Durant named Players of the week from 11th - 18th of November

LeBron James and Kevin Durant have been named Players of the week of their Conferences.

James averaged 28 points, 7.3 rebounds and 7.4 assists, leading the 11-1 Heat to a win over the L.A. Lakers to keep them on top of the league.

Durant averaged 26.5 points, 7.4 rebounds and 6.5 assists for the 9-5 Thunder, who are 4th in the West right now.

NBA.com wrote:
Rockets give Lakers 2nd straight loss, climb on top spot in the Western Conference

The Houston Rockets were able to defeat the Los Angeles Lakers at home 98-99. Kevin Martin hit the decisive free throws with 2 seconds left on the clock.

Martin scored 22 points and Terrence Williams a team-high 23 points along with 7 rebounds. For L.A., Kobe Bryant once again led the team in scoring with 27 points and Pau Gasol added 17 and 10 boards.

The Lakers fall to 7-6 now, while the Rockets rank first in the West with 9-4.
