How many folks are actually NBA Live fans?

Postby Andrew on Sun Apr 11, 2004 3:38 pm

No matter how you came to be here, I'm glad to see so many people taking part in the forum, but how many people started posting here because they are NBA Live fans, and how many people simply heard about the general forums from friends and signed up?

Since the NLSC is a fansite for the video game NBA Live, I'm just wondering about some of the people in the general forums who don't seem to post elsewhere. Obviously that isn't a problem, but I would assume most people found the NLSC and the forum looking for an NBA Live resource.

So...here's the topic and there's the poll.

How I got here

I was having problems with live 2003, around January-February of 2003 and went on the ea website to ask questions and I hit the wrong link and ended up at the forums. I had never even heard of a forum (My internet surfing consisted of nba.com, hotmail, jokes.com, lather, rinse, repeat) so I checked it out asked my question there, then clicked on a link to .org and posted there for a while. Then I was bored one day so I went to go check out this 'NLSC' website I'd heard about and here I am.

I came here for Live, and I'm still a live fan though my pc only allows me to play Live 2003, which I do. The only patch I'm using atm is Andrew's rosters, but I have a lot of graphics patches backed up here somewhere, just can't be bothered installing them. I used to dabble in other sections of the forum a long time ago when I was making some patches and had more of an interest in the game generally. Also on the old forum for some reason I felt more compelled to check out threads in sections other than NBA and General. I think becuase you could see the first few words of what someone posted, that would sometimes drag you in :)
My nba live contributions have gone down to 0, but I'm still here spamming it up from time to time (y) :D

I came here in 2000 because of Live. I heard about these so called "patches". Sadly, I abondoned Live right after that, and have transferred to the Sega/Visual Concepts/ESPN basketball game. I still like it here, so I post in NBA, General, and Other Games talk.

I've been around since the days of Live 2000. I don't remember how I came upon this site but I do remember sitting in front of my computer for hours upon hours downloading patches after patches ...mostly tony's 2000 stuff (Y)
I think I even signed up for an account at the forums back then, before phpBB although I never really got around to posting till late 2002 when I created an account under the name hotshot476. After a while, I got tired of having the 476 next to hotshot but I didn't now how to change my username so I just made another account under the id hotshot   Ever since, I've been a proud member of the NBA Live patching community :)

Yeah NBA Live brought me here.

I had NBA Live 2001 before i had the internet, so on the day i finally got the net, i went to the EA Matchup online center thingie to play some online games. I played with this dude who had an UP TO DATE Laker's team. OMFG! so i was like... "did you create kareem rush and co.? WOW! I did that on my game too!" And he was like "Naw bro, you can download updated rosters from NLSC, nba-live.com, word."
I was amazed by the concept and came to the site, downloaded some shit, and joined the forum all in one day... and that was almost two years ago. :)

I've never told anybody that before... :o Feel special!

The next person to post after me gets a free McDonalds voucher.

I was fed up having that generic player on the default bulls roster in live99 instead of michael jordan, and decided i'd add him... his real face...
and then i found the good ol' NLSC, ran by TimTim and Lutz... and then I found their ubercool patching tools...

I'm a live fan. Ever since dreamcast died out and I had to abandon ESPN I became a Live-r. I mainly got it because I wanted to try something other than ESPN (NBA 2kx). It had its aadvantages, and alot of disadvantages like the offesive rebounding problem.

Anyway, I used to look for NBA Live reviews through search engines and it brought me here when the site was all black and it was in frames.

I came here in the Summer Of 2003- Looking for a forum for people who enjoyed playing Live 2000 and who had ideas for legends patches (credit wonkajane on that) and to share my legends roster ideas of which I still need to create...(see the "Legends Pics Thread" in the Live 2000 Announcements forum)

I came here because of nba live in 2001.
I wanted to go to EA's site but i mispelled the name (so good url choice, i guess).
For 2001 i only downloaded stuff, but since 2003 I'm making patches myself too :D , I may not be a well-known and respected patcher yet, but that'll come soon enough

btw this came up when i voted :? (89+10=99 :applaud: )

I own every NBA Live except 97.

I'm not sure how I heard about this site...but it was late '99 when I started reading it...mainly to be amazed about Live 2000's franchise mode (which wasn't on the Playstation version.)

I signed up for the forums but didn't get my login info until something like 2 months later.

My old computer stopped being able to play NBA Live's with 2001 so I haven't been into the PC side...but I still play PS2 sometimes and I have a new computer that could probably play them now.

Mostly though I just stick around the forums.

Yeah, the polls don't show tenths of a percentage, thus the percentages don't always add up to 100. :)

I have all NBA Live games except 2000.

I got 2004 too, still I don't play it because my puter needs a serious upgrade (which's comin' next month).

I always downloaded patches since Live 95, but only found out about the forum on September 2001. Started posting later that month, a week after 11/9.

I first came to the site in 2001 by accident  I doloaded some patches for 2001 and they messed up my game, so I never got more patches. But after instensive patching for NHL 2000 and 2002 I got the hang of installing patches correctly and filled my NBA Live 2001 with patches.
For Live 2003 got lots of patches and made a few sucky patches of my own and Tony is that one that guided me to the forums :D I might not be posting here if it wasn't for his "guidance" :)

I have all Lives from 2000 onwards. (Excluding 2002.)

I got to the site through searching for cheats. ( ) for Live 2000.

It got me here...then I saw "Patches"... I was like...hey they can do that? Cool.

A year orso after that I joined the forums since I wasnt all that computer savvy.

I started playing Live 98 and 99 on the Playstation, then one day I went online to try to update my Live 2000 game for my boys. Then I ran into this site and was like "whoa--they can do that?"--the next day I bought Live 2000 PC. The day after that I bought a better videocard--the rest is history. I'm hooked on the PC series--I find it the best stress reliever for me.

I'm so glad Live 2005 will be on the PC again--after the 2002 fiasco--I won't believe anything till i see it.

When I was younger, our (my brothers and mine) NBA Live 1997 Cd broke into pieces, dont really remember what made it break, but the next day we went to our local nerd store to buy a new one, but to bad they didnt had it. So on our way back we walked by some store with all kinds of office suplies, and there it was.....NBA Live 1998 :o, I didnt even know it was out and it really surprised me that a office store was selling that, so we bought it.

then my brother visited the Easports page, and somewhere over there we found the NBA Live Series center link, so we went over here and I saw this cool ABA Ball patch  , but the link was off so it didnt work :x , then I completely forgot about this page and it took me a year to come back, to download some roster and jersey updates :D

Then 1 day I was bored so I decided to click on every link on the NLSC, then I clicked on forum or messageboard whatever it was without knowing the meaning of it, then I started reading the NBA and general section daily and completely ignoring the Live ... announcements which I visit most of the times while Im on this site

I've discovered this site with Live 98, but at this time i hadn't Internet at home, so I went there with a friend's connection.

I participated a little in the old forums with live 99 and 2000, then left NBA Live from Live 2001 to Live 2003 and came back about 18 months ago :D

and you Andrew, how did you discovered the NLSC ? :)
