Los Angeles (AP) — The struggling Washington Wizards came into Los Angeles looking for a road win after coming off a tough home loss to the Miami Heat, the Lakers handed the Wizards their 12th loss of the season.
Why they lost: The Wizards lost simply because they played poor second and third quarters, the Lakers did an excellent job at constricting John Wall at doing what he does best: set plays up. Wall did go 9 of 11 on field goals for 20 points, but there was really nobody else who could make some splash plays.
Why they won: Kobe Bryant played very well against a weak Wizards defense, mismatches were everywhere in the Lakers favor and putting 40 on the Wizards from a single player is pretty likely 95% that you're going to come out the game as winners.

Phoenix (AP) — Carmelo Anthony made his much awaited debut since this morning, he lasted 20 seconds before suffering a mediocre injury that could sideline him for almost a month.
Why they lost: The Wizards didn't play that bad, they just couldn't get past the Suns who are better, especially when Carmelo Anthony went down with the injury, there was no depth.
Why they won: Steve Nash was dishing out assists everywhere and Vince Carter played pretty good ball despite going 1 for 7 on three pointers.

And Anthony's hometown is Brooklyn, New York.
Bad news with Melo, I had the same thing when I acquired Korver, got injured on the first possession. Obviously Carmelo is more important then Korver, but I know how you feel.

OAKLAND (AP) — Monta Ellis was coming off a 59 point performence in Warriors win over the San Antonio Spurs and continued his streak as he put 42 on the Washington Wizards.
Why they lost: The Wizards couldn't contain Monta Ellis who scored 42 points, they shot badly converting just 34 of their 81 field goals and commited 5 turnovers in the first 3 minutes of the game, John Wall had a good game dishing out 13 assists, Nick Young scored 17 points and Javale McGee was dominant around the paint recording 11 boards.
Why they won: The Wizards had no answer for the Warriors offense which ran over them, they converted 44 of their 89 field goals, converted 17 of their 20 free throws and commited far less turnovers. Monta Ellis had a great game recording 42 points, racking up 6 rebounds and assists. David Lee recorded 15 boards and 21 points, Andris Biedrins recorded 12 boards and Stephen Curry picked up 16 points, 9 assists and 5 steals in the win over the Wizards.

SACRAMENTO (AP) — The Wizards ended their four game road trip in the state of California and Arizona with a win over the Sacramento Kings, the Wizards are now 7-14 and will face Minnesota and Boston next week to end the 2010 year.
Why they lost: The lack of offense from Sacramento was astonishing, Tyreke Evans recorded 10 points in the first quarter, but after that had just 8 points through the rest of the other three, he went 8 of 23 on field goals and the Kings recorded a 36% field goal rate.
Why they won: The Wizards didn't have an offensive showing either, they shot just 39% of their field goals but went 44% on three pointers compared to Sacramento's 13%. The Wizards conceded more turnovers but it was the field goal percent shooting that got them through the game.

MINNESOTA (AP) — Washington came into Minnesota looking for a win to push back into a playoff spot before it's too late.
Why they lost: The Wizards showed no effort last night, they downright sucked, it was terrible, they converted just 38% of their field goals and were just blown out by a team they could of easily beaten if they had applied more effort in the game, the Wizards were dissapointing on free throws as well (55%). It's a game Washington would like to sometime soon forget.
Why they won: The Timberwolves played one of their best games, they were excellent in the point scoring 32 points, and also converting 62% of their 67 field goal tries. The Timberwolves ran away with this one because they were just too good for the Wizards who will struggle without both 'Melo and Hinrich.

BOSTON (AP) — Washington overcame adversity in this one, JaVale McGee and Solomon Jones were injured as the Wizards had to constantly tweak their lines, Ray Allen also went out with an injury and did not return.
Why they lost: The Celtics played poor poor defense and offense, by halftime they had been out-rebounded 36-18 and were just sloppy at shooting all night, Rondo had an off game despite his stats, he racked up 10 points, 12 assists, 7 steals, 5 boards and 1 block but also conceded 5 steals, four of them went to John Wall who set up valuable break-away points.
Why they won: The Wizards looked great from the start, John Wall had 10 assists and 4 in the first quarter (16 overall), although he did turn the ball over 9 times in that first quarter, the Wizards were much better at their shooting, going into half time shooting 52% of their field goals whilst Boston was managing just 27%.

Boston was also struggling in my association at first, then if I remember correctly they had two separate 10-game winning streaks, so watch out![]()
