How to defend hook shots?

Postby lact92039 on Thu Feb 26, 2004 7:50 pm

I have difficulty defending the paint. Bcos the computer always like to back me down and hit a hook over me.And the accuracy was damn high. If I attempt to block it, 9 out of 10 times would be goaltending.
Any good solutions from you guys?

I always use the PF, if someone is backing down the center, I try to contest from behind if he does a hook shot. It usually works for me.

u mean u can of double team the post player ? i tried but couldn't figure out where to stand for performing a block... what is "behind" the player ? between the basket and the ball carrier ??

Double teaming the player in the post is the most effective way of preventing them getting a shot off. However, I've found that a good way of defending the hook shot is to stand your ground as the offensive player tries to back you down with your hands raised, then jump as he releases the hook. This usually seems to bother him enough to put up a poor shot, placing you in great position to grab the rebound.

try the take charge button. if you time it properly you can catch him off balance before he takes the hook shot. works for me. sometimes.
