I don't know if its posted here already, but i just saw the press conference about the Carmelo Anthony trade, and they said the deal is canceled. The deal will not happend, the coach of the nets were saying that his players didn't want to be traded. The press conference was today, Carmelo Anthony trade to the nets, is canceled.

Trade him to the Wolves for Sebastian Telfair and Corey Brewer already.

I'm not sure that Denver's shot themselves in the foot just yet, there's still a month before the deadline and presumably the Knicks will still be interested; perhaps a couple of other teams will still be interested in taking a chance and renting him for a half a season as well. Meanwhile, Wojnarowski is calling out Prokhorov for the way he's handled things from the Nets' perspective.

Frankly the Nets should've pulled the plug a month ago. Melo was NEVER going to sign an extension. I don't know why they persisted.

I don't see why anybody would rag on Melo. He's said all along he'd only consider signing an extension with Knicks, otherwise he is happy to wait for his contract to expire and have his right as a free agent. He is under no obligation to sign an extension.

Except that it's in his best interests to have one by the deadline. For all he knows, the next CBA might have a franchise player provision.

If playing for the Knicks is the only thing that matters and the money is irrelevant, I look forward to his signing for a max year minimum salary contract when the lockout ends.

new wrinkle in the saga involves anthony randolph, wilson chandler, and the t-wolves. asumming this gets anywhere close to seeing the light of day, denver is taking a huge loss but it's better than getting nothing for melo. i think they have a sense of urgency to get sometihng done but NY doesn't need to do it before the deadline and could just wait on him.

I agree, NY should just wait until the off season, maybe clear some cap room space. Trade some players for expiring contracts now. That way they won't loose talent from their roster and future first round picks.

Or perhaps not. There's still a chance something could get done but they may well have shot themselves in the foot after all having tried to play hardball.

Now I'm hearing the Lakers are interested(for Bynum). I don't see Kobe and Carmelo complementing each other(like Jordan and Pippen) at all. What happens to Gasol? If you move him to the 5 and Artest(or Odom) to 4, that's not good either.

Yeah, that's what i heard to about the lakers and nuggets. They were talking about a package that involved Lamar Odom and Andrew Bynum. The lakers want to deal Ron Artest as well, i think it was also said that Artest wanted out.

Yeah, but the Nuggets don't want Artest, they want Odom.

The Lakers shouldn't be looking to tinker, particularly a deal like that. Having all that size up front is one of their greatest strengths, there's no good reason for them to do that trade just because they've dropped a few games lately and Bynum's still finding his feet following offseason surgery.

I personally think Melo won't be a great fit in LA but I would like to see it happen. Let it go down!

Even with curry's contract expiring, I don't think that would let them sign Melo outright. The Knicks have a great chance of adding a premier player without loosing picks.
