X, are these done through the game? Or are you making it up off the top of your head?

Also, @ Ben scoring double digits.

I have creative licence on conference tournament and Selection Sunday. I am planning to use College Hoops 2k8 for the actual NCAA Tournament. Too time consuming to run a whole season in College Hoops & follow through conference tournaments. Better if I can set up all the marbles, then create the bracket, then let the game do the rest (Y)

As for your second comment, I have already completed the next day's tournament results, which I will post soon. Your comment does not in any way affect the results, nor do anyone's

Does 2K8 draft classes transfer to 2K11?

No, if it did I would be running a CH2k8 legacy parallel & making the players in that.

Btw, Ben did have a couple of double digit scoring games last season, you just didn't see them

Ah, I was making fun of him. :P I know that he could easily get to double digits and he does do it. Maybe he didn't as often when I was on the team for obvious reasons. Lol

12 March 2011

MIAMI (OHIO) STUN AKRON IN MAC FINAL, EARN AUTO BID

(3)Miami of Ohio RedHawks have stunned the heavily favoured (1)Akron Zips at the buzzer in a scrappy 54-53 affair. Junior point guard Marvin Hale was the hero for the RedHawks as he swished a 19 foot turnaround jumper as the buzzer sounded, which sent his teammates and coaching staff into celebration.

Senior teammate Benjamin Dragic, who struggled throughout the game notching only 2 points and 6 rebounds, was the first at the scene, picking up Hale as the rest of his teammates mobbed the hero. MAC Tournament MVP Hale was strong throughout the game, scoring 19 points for the RedHawks.

This will be senior Dragic's first trip to the NCAA Tournament. In an emotional scene after the game, Dragic could be seen sheeding some tears with Hale.

It looks like Akron is NIT-bound as they once again failed to capitalise on a strong regular season. This was the fifth straight MAC Tournament Title Game appearance for the Zips. They've only won one of them.

MEMPHIS WINS C-USA TITLE AGAIN

Led by sophomore power forward Rickey Harper's 21 points and 7 rebounds, (1)Memphis won its fifth Conference USA Tournament title in the last six years, defeating (2)UTEP Miners 85-79. This was the second straight defeat in a title game for the Miners, who now must wait on the Selection Committee to determine whether Conference USA is worthy of two bids (one automatic and one at-large).

BADGERS ADVANCE TO BIG TEN FINAL AFTER BLOWING OUT PENN STATE

Senior Kiwi guards Andy Woodson and Marcel Moore combined for 43 points as the (1)Wisconsin Badgers had no problems advancing to the Big Ten conference tournament final after putting away (5)Penn State 71-53. Not even a strong outing from Nittany Lions' junior centre Gus Knight (21 points, 12 rebounds) was enough to stop the hot shooting from the Badgers.

The Badgers will face the winner (2)Illinois, the winner of the other semi final 65-61 over (3)Michigan State. Illinois were led by junior big man Jamaal Fordham's 13 points, 12 rebounds and 4 blocks.

VANDY NIP KENTUCKY, SOUTH CAROLINA NEED OT TO BEAT OLE MISS IN SEC SEMIS

(1)Vanderbilt added another notch in their belt on their quest for a number one overall seed in the NCAA Tournament as they came from behind to edge out (4)Kentucky 73-70 in the SEC Tournament semi finals. The Commodores got great production out of SEC Player of the Year, senior forward Art Burks (19 points, 7 rebounds) and junior forward Jaime Buford (16 points).

Meanwhile, (3)South Carolina needed overtime to edge out (2)Mississippi 82-80 to earn a trip to the SEC title game. Freshman guard Richard Sharpe (13 points) gave the Gamecocks an added boost in overtime to help them get by Ole Miss. Top performers in the game were South Carolina's senior guard Jeremy Jeffries (18 points) and senior forward Robin Norton (16 points, 9 rebounds), and Ole Miss' forwards Damon McLeod (19 points) and Dion Baylor (17 points, 12 rebounds).

TARHEELS TO PLAY TERPS FOR ACC CROWN

(1)North Carolina made quick work of (5)Miami, winning their ACC semi final 84-68 as they moved one step closer to the top overall seed in the Tournament. The balanced play of UNC's backcourt, Ken Davidson (18 points) and Bernard York (15 points, 8 assists), combined with freshman big man Lloyd Murphy (13 points, 11 rebounds, 2 blocks) were too much for Miami's one man show, with senior guard Dillon Stevens delivering 27 points in his ACC finale. Miami sits firmly on the bubble and other results will dictate whether their bubble will burst.

The Tarheels will meet the exciting Terrapins of Maryland. (2)Maryland used a 16-4 run early in the second half to break the game open, beating (3)Duke 81-72. The Terps once again leant heavily on their young backcourt, sophomore point guard Floyd Bradley (17 points, 4 assists) and freshman wing guard Marc Scott (21 points).

CYCLONES ROAR AS THEY CLAIM THEIR FIRST EVER BIG 12 TITLE

(4)Iowa State put an end to (7)Nebraska's dream of earning an automatic bid, dismissing them 75-62 in the Big 12 Final to earn its ticket and first ever Big 12 title. The Cornhuskers' got 22 points out of senior point guard Mo Bosh, but the Cyclones put the clamp down on his teammates and raced out to a 18 point lead in the first half. The closest Nebraska got was a nine point deficit with about 5 minutes to go in the game.

The Cyclones were led by Big 12 Tournament MVP, senior small forward Calbert Andrew's 19 points. Junior lead guard Dorell Keefe chipped in with 14 points.

IT'S ALL ABOUT CHUCK - BEAVERS UPSET BRUINS TO CLAIM PAC-10 TITLE

You couldn't wipe the smile off PAC-10 Tournament MVP wing Chuck Smith if you tried. The previously troubled Smith had his strongest game of the tournament, scoring 23 points, collecting 6 rebounds, dishing out 5 assists, but more importantly shutting down league MVP Perry Buchanan and holding him to only 9 points on 3/13 shooting as (3)Oregon State beat (1)UCLA 71-62 to claim the PAC-10 title and the automatic bid that comes with it.

Oregon State also got 15 points from freshman guard Melvin Hale and junior guard Malcolm Hoff added 12 points.

NOVA CLAIM BIG EAST TITLE

(1)Villanova kept rolling on its way to a number one seed, beating (11)DePaul 80-65 to claim both the Big East regular season and conference tournament titles. This game was never close with Villanova's 4-man motion offense firing on all cylinders. Even another stellar game from Tournament MVP Leslie Berry (25 points) wasn't enough to stop the inevitable result.

DePaul needed to win this game to have any chance of making the Tournament after a dismal record in conference play. This big run in the Big East Tournament may however allow them to play post-season basketball in the NIT.

After pre-draft workouts I'll have more of an idea who I like. I think I'm leaning towards the higher pedigree Buchanan over Chuck :P

Although I'll always have love for the Swedish mo', Johan Svennson  :bowdown2:

13 March 2011

TEMPLE STALLS XAVIER, WIN ATLANTIC 10 TITLE

(2)Temple won their fourth straight Atlantic 10 title, as it shut down the (1)Xavier Musketeers with its renowned zone defence, winning a scrappy affair 58-55. The loss will have no effect on Xavier’s chance of an at-large bid, which was sewn up after they secured the Atlantic 10 regular season title.

VANDY TOO GOOD IN SEC FINAL, VIRTUAL LOCK FOR A NUMBER ONE SEED

(1)Vanderbilt was clinical in its 78-65 victory over (3)South Carolina as its star power of senior forward and Tournament MVP Art Burks (21 points, 6 rebounds) and junior forward Jaime Buford (17 points, 5 rebounds) was too much for the Gamecocks. The Commodores also got some inspired play from freshman big man Alonzo Warren (11 points, 8 rebounds, 2 blocks) as they showed no weaknesses throughout. Senior forward Robin Norton had 18 points for the losing side.

FIGHTING ILLINI HOLD OFF LATE RALLY BY BADGERS, CLAIM BIG TEN TITLE

The Achilles' heel of the (1)Wisconsin Badgers has been their inability to stop big men. Enter (2)Illinois junior, 7'3" 291lbs giant Jamaal Fordham, who was unstoppable on his way to 16 points, 14 rebounds and 4 blocks as the Fighting Illini held off a late rally from the Badgers to win the Big Ten title 69-62.

The Badgers, who were looking to secure a number one seed in the NCAA Tournament will now likely have to settle for a two seed at best, depending on other results. Senior guard Andy Woodson had a subpar game, going 4/15 from the field for only 11 points. Point guard Marcel Moore was slightly better, scoring 18 points, as he sparked a late rally before a costly turnover in the final minute all but secured the game for the Fighting Illini.

NORTH CAROLINA WINS EPIC GAME, EARNS FINAL AUTO BID

Just hours before the brackets are set to be unveiled, (1)North Carolina punched the final automatic bid, winning an epic 75-74 game over (2)Maryland. In a see-sawing final that saw four lead changes in the last minute, it was two clutch free throws by senior point guard Bernard York (11 points, 9 assists) and a strip from Terps' star guard Floyd Bradley (21 points, 3 steals) that sealed the win.

Tournament MVP, senior guard Ken Davidson was once again the star for the Tarheels, putting up 21 points in the Final. North Carolina freshman forward Lloyd Murphy had another strong game, collecting 12 boards to go along with his 16 points.

WHO WILL BE THE NUMBER ONE SEEDS?

With Selection Sunday upon us, just who will earn the coveted number one seeds? Regular season and conference champions from the ACC (North Carolina), Big East (Villanova) and the SEC (Vanderbilt) are all but assured number one seeds, with the Tarheels and Commodores duking it out for the number one overall seed in the NCAA Tournament.

UCLA and Wisconsin both dropped the ball in their title games and now must sit and await their fate. Baylor needed to win the Big 12 title to secure a number one seed but didn't even make the final.

Then there is the question of power conference title champions from the Big 12 (Iowa State), Big Ten (Illinois) and PAC-10 (Oregon State). Where do they figure into the equation when the final seeds are set.

Finally, you've got the bubble teams. Nebraska moved itself onto the bubble with its run in the Big 12 Tournament, but might've left its run too late. Gonzaga didn't win the WCC crown but did win the regular season title. Is the West Coast Conference really once again a two bid league? Then there is Conference USA, surely UTEP is NIT bound or are they? I can't see both conferences earning two bids so somebody's bubble is going to burst.

Your guess is as good as mine or whether he will pan out. Yes, I expect he'll declare for draft  But you're right to ask the question as not every player featured will be in 2011 Draft, some need at least another year of seasoning before entering the League.

Talk about premature take-off by rookie Wes Johnson.

Blake Griffin should keep his hands to himself when Wes delivers poster dunks. Eric Gordon, now a shadow of his former self.
