David Lee In Sizzling Form For Stealth
NOVEMBER 2, SEATTLE – The Seattle Stealth are 2-1 entering their game against the Sacramento Kings and that is all thanks to the play of veteran power forward David Lee. Lee has been playing great basketball and enters tomorrow night’s match with averages of David Lee 15.7 ppg and 14.7 rpg. He is also shooting a clip of 61.5% from the field.
The subject of persistent trade rumors over the past two seasons, Lee has shown what he is capable of when given an opportunity. This coincides with George Karl’s second stint as his head coach. “George’s system definitely allows me to run the floor,” Lee said, “I think that it’s a main reason for how I am playing right now.”
Lee left the New York Knicks and signed with Seattle in 2009. At the time, he had joined the team with aspirations of continuing his development into an All-Star caliber forward. Lee never made that mark of being invited to the mid-season spectacle but has been content with team success over his individual success. That was why he was hurt when the team shopped him around in a bid to try and get Chris Bosh.
“I put the team first from the get-go,” Lee explains, “I know that I was not getting the numbers they thought they would see but I knew that we were getting wins and that’s all that mattered to me. I’ve always been a team player.” Lee’s teammates understand his worth. Team captain Jason Kidd praises him all the time, “David is a great teammate. He does all the dirty work and does everything that doesn’t appear on the box score. There’s a reason he has started at the 4 spot for us for these last 4 or 5 seasons.” All-Star C Andrew Bogut added, “It says a lot for David to sit back and let Kevin, Jason and I do the work. He was a rising All-Star in New York and he’s given it all up to try get a ring.”
George Karl was encouraged by Lee’s activeness recently. He admitted that he doubted Lee could sustain that kind of production but thought that it was a sign that Lee was in prime form for the season. “We need all hands on deck this season if we want to win it all,” Karl said, “Lee is a big part of this team. With him playing like he has over these first few games to the season, I would rate this squad as true contenders.”
Lee is now looking forward to continuing his high level of play in his team’s Western Conference Finals rematch against the Kings.

Stealth Fall Short In Emotional Rematch
Sacramento Kings at Seattle Stealth: 88-85
Preview | Boxscore | Recap | Highlights
November 3, SEATTLE (AP) – For days there was the building anticipation of the rematch between the NBA champion Sacramento Kings and the Seattle Stealth. Both teams did not disappoint to deliver another classic game. This time it was Seattle that faltered in the clutch in front of their own hostile home crowd.
The raucous Stealth fans have got to be feeling pretty peeved off with the loss as they had two chances to tie it in the last 15 seconds of the match. The worst part of the loss also has to be watching former Stealth Russell Westbrook steal the ball and score the game winning layup with 14.6 seconds left in the game. Westbrook also scored the clinching free throw to rule out any Stealth comeback with just 3.3 remaining and no Seattle timeouts to call.
Moses Chara led the Kings with 23 points and 6 assists. Al Jefferson bullied his way to 16 points while Westbrook finished with another strong performance against his former team with 13 points, 12 assists and 6 steals. On a poor shooting night from Michael Redd (5 points on 2-11 FG, 0-6 3PT), the Kings got strong performances from Jason Thompson (12 points, 5 rebounds, 5 blocks) and Joe Alexander (10 points, 3 rebounds, 4 assists).
“This was a sweet sweet victory,” Westbrook spoke to reporters after Chara declined to comment, “We had to prove a point. We had to prove why we are the champions. Everyone has been saying Jason this and Jason that. We won (last season) because we are the better team. Whether they have Jason (Kidd) or not is irrelevant.”
Westbrook outplayed the aging Kidd as evidenced by the extra energy and hustle from the younger King. Westbrook’s 6 steals were a season high and his defence on the NBA veteran was top notch. Although Kidd finished with 10 assists, he was helpless on defence as Westbrook blew past him on every play. Kidd was disappointed afterwards, “I can play a lot better than I did tonight. I’m putting my hand up to take the blame for losing this one. Westbrook outplayed me from the start to the end of this game.”
Kevin Durant finished with 28 points. He was quiet in the first half but scored 24 second half points, which included a 16 point outburst in the third quarter. David Lee, entering the game averaging a double double for the first time since he was a Knick, had 20 points and 7 rebounds. Reshawn Tyson and Andrew Bogut both had poor shooting nights, finishing with 12 and 10 points respectively.
After a sluggish start to the game from both teams, the Kings took a 10 point lead in the second quarter but Tyson would have none of it as he had three massive dunks that fueled the team to stay with the Kings. Despite staying close with the visitors, Seattle did not take the lead until the fourth quarter. Sacramento had built another double digit lead early in the final period and a 12-2 Stealth run, capped by a Durant three pointer, gave them their first lead, 81-80, late in game. Another Durant jumper would give them a three point lead with time winding down.
Durant had carried the team on his shoulders but it was the Kings’ Jason Thompson who scored two big buckets down the stretch in the last 2 minutes to tie the game. Tyson and Bogut each missed close shots before Seattle called a timeout after Lee grabbed another offensive rebound. Westbrook’s steal off the inbounds pass and fastbreak dunk with 14.6 seconds left gave the Kings a 2 point lead. Durant missed a long two point attempt and David Lee missed a second chance bucket off the offensive board.
The Stealth sent Westbrook to the line where his final free throw sealed the win. With no timeouts to call, the Stealth did not have enough time to advance the ball up the court to get a good look. As the Kings walked off the court, Stealth fans booed their team. Durant was the first player to get out of sight into the tunnel.
Notes: Allen Iverson stated that he feels 100% for the first time since being diagnosed with a strained hamstring. He entered this game shooting 0.264 from the field and averaging 7.7 ppg. He finished with 5 points on 1 for 8 shooting from the field and added 5 assists... Charlie Villanueva’s name has been linked with the Seattle Stealth. The Milwaukee Bucks forward has made it clear that he is disgruntled and wants a trade to a new team… Two Stealth fans were arrested during halftime after a fight broke out in the upper section of the stadium...

Bogut Injured In Latest Stealth Loss
NOVEMBER 5, ATLANTA – The Seattle Stealth have dropped to a 2-3 record after a 106-97 loss to the Atlanta Hawks. The most disappointing part about the defeat is the dislocated finger of Andrew Bogut. Bogut hurt his finger late in the second quarter before returning in the middle of the third quarter.
He continued to play and compiled 10 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists for the night. Bogut shot 5 for 15 from the field and later explained to reporters that he had ‘popped his right index finger out’ when he blocked Josh Smith’s layup attempt. Bogut is averaging 12.5 ppg, 8 rpg, 3.7 apg, 2.2 bpg this season.
Bogut said he would play through injury. He is listed as 'day-to-day'. It is the latest injury for the Stealth, who recently had Allen Iverson playing hurt.

NOVEMBER 15, MILWAUKEE – The disgruntled Charlie Villanueva is looking likely to be dealt soon but it will not be to Phoenix. The rumored Baron Davis for Villanueva deal has reportedly been canned due to the Phoenix Suns’ recent winning form and GM Charles Barkley reluctant to ruin his side’s momentum. Davis has been playing at a high standard from the beginning of the season.
The Seattle Stealth have become frontrunners for the services of the Bucks’ power forward. The Stealth are apparently offering backup PF and sharpshooter Mingyu Li for Villanueva.

NOVEMBER 16, CHARLOTTE – Gerald Wallace received a warm reception as he and the Orlando Magic visited the Charlotte Bobcats. Wallace is a Bobcats’ foundation player having been taken in the expansion draft when the team was created. He enjoyed a solid career in Charlotte and established himself as one of the most versatile players in the league.
There was a lot of focus on this matchup leading up to last night. The fans clearly put to bed any doubts on whether they felt betrayed by Wallace leaving the franchise to play for Orlando. Wallace received the largest cheer and standing ovation of any player from either side when he was introduced before the game.
“I felt a lot of love in this building,” Wallace admitted, “I would understand (if the fans booed me) because I left them. I’m glad that they don’t hold it against me. I’m in my 30s and I want to win a ring.”
The game boiled down to the last moments of the match with Dwight Howard capping off a terrible shooting night with a game winning dunk with 13.2 seconds left. Howard’s dunk gave the Magic a 105-103 win over the Bobcats. Howard finished with 9 points (3-13 FG), 11 rebounds, 5 blocks, 5 steals. Wallace finished with 20 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 steals.
Devin Harris, who is actually playing worse without Wallace this season, had his best game of the season with 31 points and 10 assists. The NBA veteran said that it was great to see his former teammate on a winning team that could compete for an NBA title. “I’m happy for Crash. He deserves to have this shot (at an NBA title) after carrying this Bobcats franchise.” Wallace’s replacement, Stan Erickson, finished with 23 points, 8 rebounds, 7 blocks and 3 steals. Bobcats big man Shaun Skinner had a double double: 11 points and 13 rebounds.
