You know the drill. Post your turrible best of 2010 music lists. Here is mine, which makes me want to slit my wrists, as 9 of the 10 albums were Pitchfork's best new music (the one that wasn't barely missed out, getting an 8.2) Ugh...
Lamrock's Top 10 Albums of 2010
10. Vampire Weekend - ContraFuck you, this album is actually really good.
9. These New Puritans - HiddenHated it at first, but got hooked. Actually a really good album.
8. Deerhunter - Halcyon DigestDidn't want to put this in, as this list's level of pretentiousness was already too much, but it's good!
7. Twin Shadow - ForgetSuch a great little indie rock album.
6. LCD Soundsystem - This Is HappeningI love LCD Soundsystem. This wasn't quite the masterpiece I was expecting, but it's still an excellent album.
5. Tame Impala - InnerspeakerA gem. Great debut album by the psychedelic Aussie band.
Best track: Solitude Is Bliss
4. Gorillaz - Plastic BeachGorillaz finally breaks out of the mediocre side-project territory with an amazing third album.
Best track: Empire Ants
3. Big Boi - Sir Lucius Left Foot: The Son of Chico DustyBest Outkast-related release since Stankonia.
Best track: General Patton (Shutterbug is ruined by 2K11)
2. Flying Lotus - CosmogrammaAwesome album that most of you would find boring. Case in point:
Best track: MmmHmm
1. Kanye West - My Beautiful Dark Twisted FantasyThe best album to be released since Kid A, if not better. Truly the album of our generation, for more reasons than one.
Best track: Runaway (Oh yes.)

I'd do a review of that Kanye album but I'm pretty sure it'd just make you angry
10: Norma Jean - MeridonalI liked Redeemer more but this is still a sick album. Great guitar work, production values through the roof compared to older work.
09: Rise To Remain - Bridges Will Burn EPThe singer of this band is the son of Bruce Dickinson of Iron Maiden. The EP is fairly short but I LOVE what I've heard from them so far.
08: The Amity Affliction - YoungbloodsPro: Excellent music, probably the next breakthrough metalcore band from Australia. Cons: Attracted a lot of scene fags with this album who were previously unaware of their existence.
07: As I Lay Dying - The Powerless RiseUsually when bands start putting more clean vocals in their songs I get a bit put off, but they incorporated them perfectly in this.
06: House Vs. Hurricane - PerspectivesAustralian metalcore/hardcore/electronica/whatever band. They were always good but this album is crazy. I think they'll take Amity Affliction's previous spot on the totem pole, since I'm sure AA will be moving up in the World after Youngbloods.
05: Miles Away - Endless RoadsOne of the better hardcore bands out of Australia. Not as good as their self titled album but still good.
04: Parkway Drive - Deep BlueMetalcore kings of everything. It was a bit over produced compared to their earlier work but the songs are incredible live. It's rare that a band adds 5-6 songs to their live set from a new album without the gigs suffering.
03: Chiodos - IlluminaudioI was shocked at how good this is. They replaced their singer (who was the most distinctive/iconic thing about Chiodos) and somehow got better. Reminds me a bit of really really old MCR before they turned shit.
02: Haste The Day - Attack Of The Wolf KingOne of the bands that first got me into scream-based music. Even though I liked them, it was obvious vocally they weren't anywhere near as good as a lot of other bands I found. This changed on AOTWK. The improvement in vocals, clean and otherwise, was something I haven't seen/heard before.
01: Comeback Kid - Symptoms & CuresPerfect mix of hardcore/metalcore. Not as raw as Wake The Dead but I think it's better.
Just missed the cut:
A Day To Remember - What Separates Me From YouWish For Wings - EchoesIn Fear And Faith - ImperialThe Red Shore - The Avarice Of ManCarpathian - Wanderlust EP

Tue Dec 14, 2010 10:27 pm
I will do one, though it will be entirely comprised of hip hop (except perhaps for Flying Lotus)

Haven't gotten a whole lot of new music this year, so I'll just list my top 5.
5. Linkin Park - A Thousand Suns
4. All That Remains - For We Are Many
3. A Hero A Fake - Let Oceans Lie
2. Avenged Sevenfold - Nightmare
1. Bullet For My Valentine - Fever
Wed Dec 15, 2010 4:33 pm
I'm not a list man so I'll just name a few albums off the top of my head that I really loved.
Emeralds - Does it Look Like I'm Here?
album highlight:
Forest Swords - Dagger Paths
album highlight:
Mark Mcguire - Living With Yourself
album highlight and definitely the most memorable track I heard in 2010. Mark is from the psychedelic drone/ambient band Emeralds and his music is typically pretty abstrack guitar jamming. This track is an unabashed rock song that's got shoegaze bombast and classic indie rock nostalgic vibes. Love it. Got chills from it.

I would rather listen to
this for a whole day than listen to that album.

Yeah that song was.. something lol
Thu Dec 16, 2010 10:51 pm
Flying Lotus rocks. It is highly recommended to be completely fucked up upon first listen though.
Thu Dec 16, 2010 11:31 pm
I don't know if "rocks" is the right noun to use for a band that sounds like that
Fri Dec 17, 2010 3:04 am
It's just one guy I think
and "rocks" is not a noun.
Fri Dec 17, 2010 6:15 am
Thanks buzzy.

Whatever, they still suck balls.
Fri Dec 17, 2010 10:26 pm
You're just too stupid to understand music like this.
Fri Dec 17, 2010 11:32 pm
Lol yeah that's what it is. My brain prevents me from seeing it as anything more than elevator music. Go fuck yourself, dopey cunt.
Sat Dec 18, 2010 2:22 am
Not only do you not feed the troll, but you actually manage to kill it. Very well done my friend
Sat Dec 18, 2010 2:32 am
Meh Lamrock should know by now I only give him shit about his music taste as a joke. I don't care what people listen to, a lot of people hate the shit I like. Just try not to take it so seriously.
Sun Dec 19, 2010 12:50 am
I'm not taking it seriouly at all don't worry, I don't call people stupid for not liking a group (especially when it's one like Flying Lotus, which is extremely hard to get into). Was just having a bit of fun (I must be quite bored to have fun doing this, but whatever

)
Sun Dec 19, 2010 7:25 am
In hindsight, would probably swap out "Hidden" for "Astrocoast" (Surfer Blood)
Wed Dec 22, 2010 7:39 am
I don't get the "FlyLo" appeal. or wonky electronic stuff in general. probably because I have never listened to that style of music high. but I would never do that while high because I could just listen to stuff that I also enjoy sober.
