Dynasty Draft pick issues. Please help

Hi.
the draft pick stats in dynasty mode are really screwed up. so much so i have stopped playing this game. is any of this normal. thanks in advanced! any suggestions/ ways to mod draft pick stats in dynasty mode???

1. all top ten and majority of draft picks have speed all between 25 and 35!! but very high quickness
2. all players start off with 25-25 in FG and 3pt with the exception of some F and F- players with 60's
3. most draft picks have between 60 and 95 clutch!! alot with 25fg 23OA and 95 clutch??!!

this completely ruined my dynasty. all top ten players, even on other teams miss EVERY SINGLE SHOT!! AND RUN SLOWER THAN SHAQ UP AND DOWN THE COURT. this includes PG's and SG's!!!!!! most have a quick in the 70's and speed under 30!!! game is no longer playable.

PLEASE HELP!!!!

also, could not trade for a draft pick the entire season!! even tried to trade my star just to see 92overall to team with cap room and a 70overall SF. tried trading two stars just for one pick!! tried for hours every combination. not one team would trade draftpicks!! not one?? is this normal???

Those are indeed problems with NBA Live 08's sim engine. As for trading draft picks, it is possible but the CPU tends to be very stingy on giving them up.

Hey Andrew! you seem to be the person to go to for dbf editing. Im having a serious issue here trying to get this game playable again. im just going to copy my other post since i got a hold of you here. PLEASE ANDREW help with this one. thank you for your input. thanks


Im trying to change a stat for a rookie i just drafted (2nd yr dynasty) and work ethic. Ive changed the stat using db commander and there is no change. i researched and it said to go into edit player to re-save and recalculate his stats. this does not work. the stat is changed in the dbf but is not changed at all on the player. I then found that there is two entries for players on your team and changed the stat on the second entry as well. (first entry is grouped with my team and second is grouped with all the rookies in dbf) when ever i change anything on this second entry ALL TEAMS GO BACK TO THEIR ORIGINAL ROSTERS before i began the dynasty!! I am editing the player.dbf under the "save" folder in my documents, and not the one in program files. also was advised not to mess with any of the database player.dbf's and only the one in the save folder. the changes are confirmed for the first entry but show nowhere in game. they are not taking effect. am i doing something wrong or missing something??? ive tried this tons of times, reloading my backup and retrying again and again. even though the DBC is changing what i need, no changes are being made. and when i mess with the second entry to match the first one (which is what your supose to do) the game always somehow reverts back to the orig. rosters. NO DRAFT PICKS ON ANY TEAM. im really confused?? someone Please PLEASE advise. jsut need to change one stat and work ethic. nothing else. (ive also edited the dbf using excel, some said it would work. changes were confirmed and saved. game does not crash, but NO CHANGES WERE MADE INGAME.

ive now edited the player dbf in my dynasty save folder a hundred times. (always reverting back to my backup each time) using db commander, excel and now access. the changes are all made with all programs, and stay there. but when the game is loaded, either no change what so ever is taking place, or the entire rosters for EVERY team has changed. i cannot seem to figure this out. ive even loaded a save at the end of the last season and changed the learning and work ethic if the draft picks. (all other stats are blank... not drafted yet) and drafted them and put two trainers on one guy and one on another. trained and simed for two months. ZERO change. nothing is taking effect in-game when editing the player.dbf file. i could correct the numbers on all the draft picks if i could get this to take the changes.

It sounds like you're doing everything right so it's a bit of a puzzle. If I can come up with the answer, I'll be sure to let you know.

nbojczuk, Can you send me your players.dbf file, and tell me who and what will I change. I tried editing rookies before and I did not encounter any problem like yours.
