Pitcairn Islands

That's right, they deserve a thread at least...

For you who don't know who they are:
    They have 47 inhabitants... 47!

The language they speek is a "mixture of an 18th century English dialect and a Tahitian dialect"
How cool is not that? That got to be one of the coolest languages I've heard of.

They have one phone line, and 17 people have phones.

And let's not forget ther power resource: a small diesel-powered generator provides the whole island with electric power...

Plus; their not nearly as lame as those pesky Nauruans

My future home :D

Nopes, it's not a painting, and yes, the buidings are in that colour. Has to do with history of the Island and stuff...

They used to have this dark gray/grey (how ever you want to spell it) paint. The buildings were owned by slave owners and all that stuff. So a few years back when the buildings were breaking into pieces, the government decided to restore most of it. So, instead of using serious/grim colours..they decided to use, how shall I put it, frollicy colors. Anyways those are just restored buildings, most government offices are situated in those buildings since no one in their right mind would want to put anything else in them. That's Otrobanda...roughly translated "the other side"...there is water between Otrobanda and Punda..as can be seen in the picture. Punda is derrived from the dutch word Punt which is point. It's supposed to be "the centrum" of the whole island. Well punda is like the whole town, thus where you can shop, malls etc. So one side of the water you have the modernised buildings etc and on the other side, you have the old school buildings. Nice ploy to get tourists to come visit. They always seem to be amused by it. And from what I've heard, they just finished building the Mega Pier, where huge tourist ships can now dock. Before, alot of ships couldnt come in because on top of the haven there is like a big bridge, small tourist ships could pass under the bridge, the big ones however couldnt...hence the building of the new haven.

Flag? I didnt see a flag? Pfff, who cares about the buildings/havens/flags whatever...enjoy the beaches folks! :P

Lol, it's a small world after all.

We (the family thus) own one of the most succesful restaurants in Paramaribo. Perhaps your dad's heard of it. Moti Mahal. :P

Anyways, where would you go, Paramaribo or Nikeri or somewhere else?

Meh, I prefer the ladies from the island, more variety, latinas (Y)(Y).

Too bad Suriname doesnt have too many of the Latin girls...otherwise that would be a mini paradise minus the beaches.

Circumstances + the studies are better in the Netherlands. The island has like 4 to 5 highschool's. Then they have one university, where you dont even get alot of choices as to what you want to study. So, most of the people end up coming to Holland after highschool to attend college over here. It's also pretty easy because if you're born on the island, you're automatically a dutch person, meaning you have the dutch nationality since the Islands ( 5 ) fall under the Netherlands, hence the name : The Netherlands Antilles.

So yeah, that's my answer to your question...After a year and a half, I'll be done with highschool, that's when all the island folks will join me over here and after I'm done with my studies, I'll probably return to the island to get myself a job. I've gotten used to the relaxed way of life, over here everyone is in a hurry.

Although alot and I mean ALOT of people love the netherlands. Probably because smoking weed is legal. You can buy it legally and even smoke it legally.
