Hex Editing: Camera Editing

So here we are, this post will help evrybody unhappy with CAMERA settings in 2k11. The good news is that parameters are almoust the same as 2k10.

So in the attached archive You'll find files to mod nba2k11.exe so please backup your original first.
The cameras that will repleaced are PRESS and NOSEBLEED.
Open the file (open nba2k11.exe) in Edit Pad Pro (or fav Hex Editor) and select view search panel from the menu.

There are 4 files in the rar, two for default values and two for modified values.

The default files cointains the hex values that you need to search, the modified the values that will replace the original one.

So simply search original values and substitute with the modified values.

p.s.
Every camera parameters are subdivided in two blocks: the first one is for 4:3 format and the second one is for 16:9 format.
if you want to zoom more the press cam (for example) replace the default values (look at bottom part of each block)
A040 0000 A0C0 0000 A040 0000

with this one
B0C1 0000 B0C1 0000 B0C1 0000

to get a more zoomed out cam...

Sounds good, but it's not working for me... If I copy/paste the values of the press default into my search panel of edit pad pro, I'm told that this can't be found...

Making pics of the tutorial would really help out those people who dont understand this kind of things btw this topic is not in the right thread you should put this in the tutorials section

I have the US version of the exe...I can assure you that the values are correct.

The Nosebleed replacement cam is great. I couldn't get the pressed cam working correctly, gonna have to try again later.

Alright here are a few pictures. Going to try and make it as simple as possible so people get it on the first try without any questions. Unfortunately I could not get the press cam patch working correctly, as someone posted above, it says the values cannot be found. So this will just be for the nosebleed cam patch.

Of course, credit goes to maumau78. I am just trying to simplify it even further than it has already been simplified.

1.) MAKE SURE YOU BACK UP YOUR FILES.

2.) Open Edit Pad Pro then open US nba2k11.exe.


3.) If your search panel is not open press Ctrl+F. If that doesn't bring it up look up on the top menu strip and click Search and select Show Search Panel from the drop down menu. Also you can open the nosebleed_def.dat & nosebleed_knicks.dat files that should have downloaded from the first post at this time. You should now have 3 tabs open as well as the Search Panel open on the bottom.


4.) Once all tabs and search panel are open, go to the nosebleed_def.dat tab and copy everything.


5.) Once copied, go back over to the nba2k11.exe tab. When your on the nba2k11.exe tab go down to the search panel and paste the code you copied from the nosebleed_def.dat file. Click next, and the code should appear highlighted in the nba2k11.exe window. (Make sure your cursor is at the top of the file. If you click next and your cursor is ahead of the code you are looking for the search will not be able to find anything).


6.) WHILE THE CODE IS STILL SELECTED in the nba2k11 window, go over to the nosebleed_knicks.dat file and copy everything.


7.) Go back over to the nba2k11 tab. The code that you searched for previously should still be highlighted when you go back over. PASTE what you just copied from nosebleed_knicks.dat to replace the nosebleed_def.dat code.


I messed around with the zoom/height settings in-game but you can play around with it. It really is a nice cam. Thanks maumau78!

When you get a chance can you try the Press Cam file you uploaded? Not sure why but I can't get that one to work.

still don't work for me.. when i finished copying , paste it to nba2k11.exe then click "next" still finds nothing. maybe you could just share your nba2k11.exe..

How do i get my webcam to go online to a url? I have a webcam setup on my window, and i will be traveling much during this summer, so i was just curious where i could put my camera on the internet, so that when im gone i could just go to that url and view it. Please help!

Yeah. I just tried both of then. The updated nosebleeds cam works great. I searched for the hex text in the exe as maumau78 instructed and replaced it with the one in the knicks file and it works. But when you search for the default hex text in the press default dat file, it cannot find the identical text in the exe like it did with the press camera as you say nowinskit. I suggest maumau78 could possibly edit his press default hex text so it could be more compatible. this is a good trick to know, especially with the lack of working tools associated with NBA2K11.

although the new nosebleed camera is nice, i would like to lower the height further. maumau78, could you release more versions of the nosebleed camera, maybe something for regular arenas? perhaps something in between default and the one you did for the MSG? when you use your knicks nosebleed camera in regular arenas, you can't go lower than 4 on camera height without getting blocked by a rafter or the crowd. if you have alternate versions of the nosebleed camera so i can get a lower angle without it running into the crowd. (something in between camera height 3 and 4 for regular arenas). perhaps lowering the hex data that controls the height so the height could be more fine turned. With your camera the way it is now, a nosebleed camera height of 10 in the game is not needed that high. instead 10 could be where 6 is now and there would be better tuning of the camera through in-game.

maumau78, I thank you very much for making the nosebleed camera better. perhaps we can work together to better interpret the hex data in the exe.
