Wasn't a fan of MW2 (no fun getting killed two seconds after spawning every time), and Treyarch doesn't exactly have the best track record, so I'm gonna pass on this one.

I don't really like how overboard they went with all the extra killstreaks and perks in MW2, and Black Ops seems to push it even farther: i dont want to get killed by an RC car, whoever thought of putting that in multi player is a fucking loser.

But I have to admit I like customization of weapons (not so much perks, again simple is usually more fun gameplay wise), and the new modes in Black Ops have pretty much sold me on the game.

Not to mention nothing like Spec Ops mode and playing with a buddy, or Nazi Zombies.

The Single Bullet Mode and the mode where you get new guns every kill, seem to be very fun and should hopefully present more challenge online.

ive stated many times over that I will not be getting this since I like to get CoD every other year but the $20 gift card from amazon plus bots, theater mode for replays and the gambling challenge modes are making me want it.

but I think I'll just stick with Reach

so my future brother in law got the game and the other brother bought one at midnight last night. The midnight one is loving multiplayer and the other hates it. I currently have the extra copy and am playing through campaign....
.....

......

.......this is terrible and I loved MW and MW2's campaign modes....yea, I did.

I am watching enemies appear right in front of me,
I can't kill certain enemies until their animations end (placing a ladder, jumping over sandbags etc)
my AI buddies have pushed me off ladders that I was climbing to my death,
I have honestly been killed more by my teammate AI's grenades than normal grenades (when they throw them it just drops to their feet),
I get these fucking respawn checkpoints in "death pits" where I have to either get lucky that my AI actually shoots someone or I gotta work out the order in which to shoot people,
when there is a neverending wave of AI coming my "Follow me!" AI will stand back in cover and try to take them on...but when there is a "normal" enemy wave coming at us they will sprint through it while I have to stick behind to actually shoot them,
and lastly there is a guided missle, and you can shoot through sandbags to hit tanks on the other side.....no collision detection....

I am really, really, REALLY happy I didn't buy this game. In terms of quality compared to the other 2 CoD games I've played this is broken. I am playing on Hardened, and dieing isn't the problem I'm having, its glitches and shit.

Evidently online is lagging bad so I havent tried it yet. The Bots are cool, they use your friends list to name the bots, that is an awesome touch. I really dont want to get into online again since MW2 was an addiction that was tough to get through. Thankfully my RB3 guitar comes tomorrow so Ill try to push through to the end of the campaign before it comes tomorrow evening. Oh, and the story isn't terrible....but they momento that shit and change time periods too much.
Opinions are my own.

Its CoD World at War with the things MW2 added, and a couple new systems/modes.

There are many differences between Treyarch's and the Infinity Ward's games.

Honestly the spawning, hit detection, and overall lag and delay of the new game has already killed it for me with a little over 8 hours into online.

I mean this has happened more than a few dozen times, and my friends all experience this too:

In a gun fight, have to reload or try to escape, so you duck behind cover, or run around a corner, get behind something, only to die once behind the said object/ corner. It's so delayed that literally you die anywhere from a second to a half second AFTER getting behind cover.

I doubt this is connection as I always have a 3 or 4 green bars, and again, all my friends have experienced it.

This ruins any chance of retreating from a gun fight basically. Not to mention spawning is retarded.

Was playing on Launch (small-medium sized level with rocket that takes off), and the enemy was continuing to spawn in the back corner of the map. Literally just spawn, throw grenades, shoot and kill a guy, die, spawn same place over and over. This happened a couple times and I did what I usually do, break away from the pack and try to get to where they spawn next. I ran all the way around the entire map, and they didn't spawn anywhere else for a couple minutes. As if the spawn system is solely based on spawning around your teammates, rather than in empty zones of the map.

I could go on, but all I'm saying is rent the game, don't buy it. I wish I hadn't, knew I'd regret it, especially with 2k11 and Assassin's Creed coming out soon. I'll probably play single player and then never touch this game again.

yeah i did not get world at war and i was very wary of this one despite all the hype. even in cod 4 and mw2 i would play single player and get to level 70 in multi and stop playing. prestige mode has to be the dumbest idea ever. who the hell wants to start all over just for the sake of one more custom class?? plus it resets all of your challenges so if you get an impossible one (like winning a match via care package) you may never get it again. i guess i would be ok with doing prestige if they didn't reset the guns and challenges.

it's crazy because you get all addicted and once i hit level 70, BAM! i lose all desire to play the game. and i didn't even shell out whatever ridiculous price they charge for a few new maps and recycled old maps like i did in cod 4. those 2 map packs came out after my addiction ended.

same here, but I am contemplating popping the disc in again for some MP before I have to give it back. The COD4 maps were new though so I got those, but the MW2 maps were just shit....30 bucks for half remakes, no thankyou.

Despite reading Jao's post to him and watching vids in YouTube, my brother went ahead and bought it... just in the first level, an enemy soldier appeared in screen without any animations, just like the Jesus Glitch in the Elite demo. :shake:

I didn't like MW2 (probably had something to do with my .1 kill-death ratio), but Black Ops is clearly a far worse game. Playing it at my friend's house, the game seems like a step down from MW2 in almost every area. Glitchy, unpolished, worse graphics, etc. etc. etc.

that's the problem, they're falling into the NBA Live slippery slope where people just blindly buy their games because "live" is slapped on the cover. COD is becoming the same after 2 breakout hits in cod4:MW and MW2

best cod campaign i've played and the new game modes online are cool. Although COD's aren't my favorite games it's still pretty fun.

yeah I know some people don't like it, but I thought the story was pretty good for a COD game. I've played every call of duty besides the first modern warfare so i'm not sure how good that one was.

well that would explain it. The first MW is my "favorite" since I hadn't really encountered anything like it before. I did like MW2's Washington battle a LOT and the ambush in the beginning, but I really did not like BO's campaign.

Counterpoint: I don't know how anyone can stand the series after the second, which was really the third (or fourth depending on how you read this!), as that was the peak only because of some smart level design. Since then it's been a shit sandwich but with a bonus shit shake on the side. In fact, I can't believe you played the first two games AND UO if you think anything that has come after them has been good. A sane person would have bailed with MW (since 3 could be considered a one-off) when it STILL had all the disgusting flaws that MOH:AA had half a decade later.

Bad Company 2's single player is better than any Call of Duty since 2, and it's still terrible. And unlike Call of Duty, the multi player is actually reason to buy the game, the single player is just an engine spectacle and frustration simulator.

And don't you dare place stories and good in the same sentence with any of these types of games.

Let me know when Carl on Duty: Black Cops actually comes out.

Trust me COD has never been one of my favorite game series. However I still enjoy playing it occasionally when I don't have much else to do. I'm not really a big FPS fan in general my favorite game series being metal gear and uncharted. My point is I thought it was decent for a COD game.
