Discussion about NBA Live 2003.

I'm about sick of watching Jason Kidd dribbling the basketball every time I start the game. Then he's followed by AI, Kobe, Marbury, and KG's in there too, and an empty space where I believe Gary Payton is supposed to be.
What do I do if I want LeBron, KD, etc to start there instead? Do I edit the player value - if so what numbers do I set these players to?

If you switch the player ID of Carmelo Anthony for Jason Kidd's player ID, than Anthony will be dribling the basketball eveytime you start the game

.
Here's the order and the player ID's:
- Code:
kidd 177
iverson 8
jordan 467
garnett 217
kobe 227
payton 146
webber 71
mcgrady 416
carter 608
allen 283
francis 509
pierce 489
davis 510
miller 290
finley 264
bibby 481
stackhouse 188
marbury 336
miles 577
sprevel 233

These were used at Euroleague 2003. They changed Mirsad's ID to 177.

Yeah, I just figured it out last night- didn't get a chance to post that I had done it.
Anyway, here are the people I put in here instead. They will be included in my rosters.
James
Durant
Stoudemire
Nowitzki
Wallace
Odom
Nash
Bryant
Rondo
Anthony
Wade
Williams
Richardson
Pierce
Rose
Evans
Jennings
Bosh
Howard
Paul
not in that exact order.

db commander 2000

Or open office, or any other spreadsheet/database software that supports .DBF files. Excel supports it, but it runs into problems, I recommend Open Office.

If you want to do it quickly, use DB Commander 2000. But if you want a free program with unlimited abilities, OpenOffice is great.

My reasoning exactly.

what file name is it??ehehe
Sun Nov 21, 2010 4:22 am
The file name of Open Office or the player .dbf?
Google Open Office and the database software is called Calc.
The players database file is My Documents/NBA Live 2003/saves/011(or whichever number your rosters are saved under.)/players.dbf.

A problem I had... I put Gerald Wallace in the menu, and now the announcers don't say his name anymore!!! Help?
Tue Nov 23, 2010 9:54 am
That's because the ID is tied to the speech files. You've always got to be careful about changing ID numbers, as they often correspond to values in other databases, speech files etc.
Tue Nov 23, 2010 10:09 am
Ah, now I might think about changing Wallace, Nash, Odom, Nowitzki, Stat and Richardson back to normal and replace them with others that don't have speech files because they weren't in the nba in 2003. (Thinking Westbrook, Griffin, others)
Tue Nov 23, 2010 10:18 am
Be mindful that doing so will assign them the career stats of those other players. That's another thing the ID is tied to.
Tue Nov 23, 2010 10:35 am
That doesn't really matter to me.
Tue Nov 23, 2010 10:39 am
In that case, go ahead.
Tue Nov 23, 2010 10:46 am
Andrew, is there anything else that is tied to the ID numbers?
Tue Nov 23, 2010 11:00 am
Career stats, audio and of course the players that appear in the menus are the only things that come to mind for NBA Live 2003.
Tue Nov 23, 2010 11:05 am
Thanks Andrew!
If you think of anything else, please let me know.

I'm trying to make my rosters really good.
Tue Nov 23, 2010 11:21 am
No problem. It's been a while since I worked on NBA Live 2003 so something may have slipped my mind but I'm pretty sure that's it, since 2003 doesn't use separate players.dbf and appearance.dbf files; that split didn't happen until NBA Live 2005. Nevertheless if anything else comes to mind I'll be sure to post it.
