The Fate of My Free-time Rests on Your Shoulders....

Sat Oct 30, 2010 1:09 am

Hey guys, long time no see (or post, I guess?), I've just been kind of lurking the association story/2k/NBA talk boards these past few months or so.

But enough about me. It was never about me. It's about YOU and the power that you wield over me.

You see, I'm torn between making two purchases; NBA 2k11 and Fallout New Vegas. Obviously these two are radically different games (inb4 "itz totally liek wut u prefer to play lolz"), but I'm highly interested in both but for different reasons of course.

My friends bought 2k11 for X Box already and we all play it, but I haven't gotten my annual association fix since 2k9. The biggest deterrent for purchasing this game over Fallout is probably the fact that I technically already have this game and I'm buying it simply for one game mode. I've never played any Fallout before so I feel like I might be overwhelmed by the system, but I kind of enjoy that aspect about RPGs like these. Games that are non-linear and highly customizable tend to make me pick up a nice healthy tan from sitting in front of my monitor all day. What's making me hesistant to pull the trigger on buying NV are the numerous bugs and glitches that I keep hearing about. Of course, these will probably be patched over time, but I'm not familiar with this company and how speedy they are when it comes to fixing their game.

That is why I need you guys to help me decide which game I should buy! I know it's tempting to buy both, but being a university student forces me to be a little bit of stickler when it comes to making purchases like these. All in all, I NEED YOUR HELP!

Oh yeah, don't worry about voting on the poll too much. I'd rather you guys post your opinions instead.

Well i've heard 2k11 is the best bball game evar...but I hear that every year.

Fallout 3 (havent played NV) i bought during a break from school. I played it about 6-8 hours a day for about 3 weeks straight. And still havent 100%ed it.

I'd go Fallout

I say Fallout. There will be a time that 2K11 will feel too much for you.

Yeah that's the thing that is making me lean more towards NV. The replay value plus mods should make the game an absolute blast to play for a while. When I play basketball games I tend to have an on and off love affair with it until next season's version to come out.

Fallout bored the living crap out of me so I go for 2K11.

If it's Fallout 3 you're going for, you might be able to find a copy cheap somewhere (perhaps even a GOTY edition) so if you look for the best possible deal, getting both arguably becomes more an issue of free time than dollars.

Fallout 3 was one of the most addictive games that I've ever played and I'm really looking forward to New Vegas. If you're looking for something you can just play and play and play, I'd go with Fallout. That said, I'm very impressed with NBA 2K11 and if you're in need of a virtual basketball fix more than trying something new then I'd definitely recommend it.

But again, before you decide between one or the other, see if you can get a good enough deal to get both.

If you have a friend with the GotY edition, you can borrow his DLC disc, then buy the game for $20. Fallout 3 for $20 > NBA 2K11 for $60. I'd say 2K11 is the better game overall though, long term.
