v1.05 released...

Discussion about NBA Live 2004.

Postby FanOfAll on Thu Mar 11, 2004 12:45 pm

Andrew, I checked out the range of the players, and here are who I think should be changed:

bolded some of the more major ones in case you're short on time (based on either an large increase of ratings, importance of player, or influence on gameplay - ie, big men getting extended ratings is probably the most important).

Battie - from 13 to 17
Eddie Robinson - from 20 to 23
Tys Chandler - from 13 to 16
Roger Mason - from 20 to 25
Corie Blount - from 13 to 16
Chris Mihm - from 20 to 15
Boozer - from 15 to 18
Tregnapier - from 13 to 23 (but his 3's still suck)
Matt Barnes - from 23 to 25
Najera - from 13 to 20
Juwan Howard - from 13 to 17
Rip Hamilton - from 23 to 20
Mo Taylor - from 13 to 16
Eddie Griffin - from 25 to 23
Al Harrington - from 18 to 20
Jon Bender - from 25 to 20
Brand - from 13 to 16
Odom - from 20 to 25
Dre Miller - from 20 to 23
Drew Gooden - from 13 to 16
Anthony Carter - from 18 to 23
Rich Jefferson - from 20 to 23
Kmart - from 20 to 18
Stacey Augmon - from 13 to 23
Lee Nailon - from 13 to 23

Courtney Alexander - from 20 to 23
Kurt Thomas - from 15 to 18
Weatherspoon - from 13 to 16
Doleac - from 13 to 20
Frank Williams - from 20 to 23
Eric Snow - from 18 to 23
Zach Randolph - from 13 to 17
(he thinks he can go farther, but rarely hits)
Qyntel Woods - from 20 to 23
----I got lazy here and started wondering why I put the "from number" in the first place so I stopped---
Divac - 18
Gerald Wallace - 23
Duncan - 18
Claxton - 23
Drobnjak - 18
Antonio Davis - 16

Jarron Collins - 16
Calbert Cheney - 23
DeShawn Stevenson - 23

Kwame Brown - 16
Kenny Thomas - 16

hope you consider these changes andrew :)

I played vs Atlanta yesterday and noticed that Diaw had the 3point symbol (75 rating) while he is 3-19 in 58 games in the NBA, that should be corrected ;)

I have to offer a dissenting opinion on Kmart. He's perfectly capable of consistently hitting the J from the top of the key (19'9") so his range so should remain around 20. :) (watched a Nets game last night, can you tell?)

Glad to help :).

thanks for the input, even though i'm not the one who makes the final decisions. I decided to list Kmart as an 18 because he doesn't step out to 20 feet that much anymore...he did it his first few years a lot more. leaving it at 20 is fine too :).

Andrew,

Could you also update the homecourt advantage based on each team's home win loss record this year?

Thanks.

Good call -- he doesn't do it as much anymore, as his inside moves have improved quite a bit. But still, hitting it from the top of the key isn't asking too much, I think (and it really is 19'9"). :)

It seems to me that the home/away advantage dont have an effect this year.
I tried it for my season mode and they will not effect the standings.

it definitely does cus every time i play my brother as the away team i lose and i dont get any foul calls

I'll certainly try that Ace, though I can't guarantee excellent results. I too haven't noticed too great a difference with the homecourt advantage values.

I think Raja Bell is the 6th man with the Jazz, his ratings is very underated. He is playing well now. I also think his salary will increase for next season.

Thanks alexboom. (Y)

mic1002, I'll definitely up Bell's ratings a little, but I'll wait until next season's salary listings before I make any changes. :)

Hi Andrew !

I'd like to add my Miami Heat adjustments since some ratings could need some corrections (especialy the bench guys that are not that known)

Allen , Malik - great jump shooting big man (16 footers) , weak in the
lowpost , weak rebounder & defender
increase : Blocks a bit , shooting alot decrease : def. reb

Alston , Rafer - inc. : def. aware. a lot , steals a bit , 3pt a bit

Butler , Caron - inc. : passing , def reb. a lot dec. : 3pt a bit
Pos. as 2nd SG

Butler , Rasual - inc. : 3pt & 2pt rating slightly Pos. as 2nd SG

Coles , Bimbo - washed up player - more a mentor then a player
dec. : 3pts a lot (didnt made a single 3 thisyear
defense aware. big time (65 is enough) Range 18-20

Grant , Brian - chronic knee problems so not that mobile anymore
inc. : shooting range (makes often 16 footers)
dec. : speed (to about 50) , def. rebs.

Haslem , Udonis - has Cornrows (was created) strong rebounder -
good defender - undersized PF - very fast & mobile
inc. : def. aware., speed (to about 70 really)
dribble (to 40) , stregth a bit , Range 16
2nd Pos. C (altough undersized ) both Rebs

Odom , Lamar - inc. : strength a bit , def. rebs a bit , passing a lot ,
dribble a bit

Wade , Dwyane - inc. : dunking a lot , jumping a bit , off. aware a bit ,
inside fg , pass , steals , blocks

Walker , Samaki - wears always those long socks (up to the knees)
inc. : strength a bit dec. : off & def rebs.

Wallace , John - has bald (was created)
inc.: off aware a bit
dec. : off and def. rebounds , inside scoring a bit

Woods , Loren - dec. : passing a bit ; dribble a lot , 2pt fg , def reb

Zhi Zhi , Wang - dec. : off and def reb. a bit

Eddie Jones seems great and Jerome Beasley has no PT to judge him.

Hope i could help you with my adjustments :)

I agree with thos changes being made to the Heat squad, im surprised how unbiased you came off even though you wear the logo, admirable (Y)

On the Jazz squad (not sure if it has been brought up) Bell is quite underrated for his performance, Giricek is under rated quite a bit as well, he has been showing a real shooting touch, might want to check his performance after he got into utah, Arroyo only needs his FG rating upped a bit.

Kirilenko's shot block rating is at 88 right now, i thin kit should be at least a 90, the guy is not even a pure PF yet he is 3rd in the league in blocks right now.

I know this sounds like i just want to make the jazz a better team but im actually a orlando fan :P (no jokes please :P) but i feel the jazz are the most under rated team in the game right now.

Posey's 37% from 3p compared to J-Will's 31% but JWill got the 3p symbol and Posey not :? (I didn't look at their ratings)

Though Wells is shooting at a better percentage, J-Will still attemps and makes more threes. I will look at both of their ratings though.

Just letting everyone know, I've been working on the roster today and have used pretty much everything that's been written here. In some cases I've exercised my editorial authority, and in some cases I haven't been able to fulfil the request (some of the birthtowns/nicknames aren't in the database) at this time. But hopefully I've made all of the important ratings changes, as well as bringing the rosters up to date.

I'll be releasing v1.06 in the next couple of days. Thanks for you patience and continued support of the current roster update!

??? you can't edit birthplace and nickname with a dbf editor ??? is it an id like school ??? or do you only use ingame editing ?

for sure there is a nickname.dbf file somewhere where you can add new entries ... :)

I guess I could distribute an edited nicknames.dbf and birthtown.dbf...I'll just have to make sure I get the right folder in the patch installation.

One more request for the Knicks. Mike Sweetney has lost 15lbs since training camp, so his quickness rating should probably get a bump (unless that's been done already).
