Players stuck as free agents

Postby philwood313 on Fri Mar 12, 2004 10:01 pm

Is there any way to make the game more realistic, so all teams are working under the salary cap, cause every time i start a dynasty at the end of the season some big player is just stuck in free agency and no team can afford to sign them. Last time there was Steve Nash unsigned and Rasheed Wallace,

So is there any way to work the salary cap? Cause the only teams within the salary cap are probably the worst 3 teams. everyone else is thousands over.

I had this same problem in my last season. I had to use toolkit to just place them all on whatever teams they either were on before or teams that I wanted to help out. But I donno, this didn't happen on PS2, it only happened on PC where the salary cap numbers were all different.

one way around this is... (for console versions especially)

sign that player for the minimum and then trade him to the team he's supposed to be signed with. the trade will be accepted for sure

what i do is i use a dbf editor and then i place the player on whichever team i would like them to sign and then i edit their salary, yrs. assigned and yrs. remaining.. then i just fix the roster position..

That's what I do too. But I hope the NBA Live 2005 will correct this.

And I wonder why I haven't bothered with Dynasty Mode. It's amazing how EA could screw up on this issue. The cap exists so that player salaries are regulated by supply and demand. How hard can that be to model?

Is it possible to rise the salary cap in an existing dynasty??
I don't want to start a new one.
