For what it's worth, Pip wouldn't trade Noah for Melo either.

"I would definitely think about it very hard," Pippen said Tuesday on "The Waddle & Silvy Show" on ESPN 1000. "But I don't know ... if I'm a GM, I don't know that I could pull the trigger based on Carmelo's ... sort of what he's doing now. Based on his reputation, I'd probably have to stay with Joakim because you know that this kid is going to come out and play night in and night out. There's no excuses. He's a great teammate. That's what you want."

Pippen said Anthony's reported handling of his situation should give the Bulls reason to pause.

"I think there's been some problems there with him and the coaching and the organization," Pippen said. "I think that could be a problem when you come to a team like the Bulls, an organization that is still trying to get off the ground and get themselves in a position that they are an established playoff team. You don't want to lose a guy like Joakim and have a guy like Carmelo come here. Hey, he might not like it here. Next year he may be wanting to get out of here and go play somewhere else.

"I think it would be a huge gamble for the Bulls. It could set them back or it could push them up. I like Joakim, so for personal reasons I would probably keep him."

I think that's a good point but if nothing else, the Bulls need Noah and his defense/presence in the middle more than they need Melo and his scoring. Seems like those rumours are dead anyway, with Noah definitely off the table.

With Benji would give a wins projection for the Bulls with Melo instead of Noah. I bet they'd be pretty bad.

Oh yeah! I now believe we should trade Noah as well for Melo and get Joel Anthony for center as well! Just imagine a starting 5 of rose, scalabrini, Melo , Boozer and the second Anthony as the center! Wow...

Joel Anthony isn't leaving Miami. I highly doubt that.

i'm not sure what i want to hear about less:

Carmelo Anthony rumors or Scalabrine

now a decent number of posters around here wouldn't trade deng/noah for anthony. if you had anthony, would you trade him for deng/noah??

Of course. Noah's far more valuable than Melo (and he's an RFA!), while Deng is a cheaper (assuming Melo would be extended for the max), more well-rounded and overall useful player.

Melo is a better scorer than Deng, but that's okay because Deng doesn't hog the ball and actually plays defense. He's not better than Melo, but I'd rather have Deng at $11 mil or whatever he makes than Melo at the max.

Noah is RFA but i'm sure he's going to sign a long term contract. maybe 5yrs/~$60

lol are you really defending Luol Deng- bad contract & no identifiable offensive skill. he can't dribble, can't post up, supbar 3pt shooter. doesn't get to the FT line. doesn't thrive in the open court. not a ballhog yet he still manages to get off a decent amount of shots. he's basically a glorified space eater. and injury prone. and he isn't even a top defender

if i had Anthony, i would laugh at this offer

Ballhogging is fine providing the production from the player is positive, and in Melo's case it is. Melo takes 8 shots and 5 free throws more per game but is more efficient than Deng, and the rest of their numbers are almost identical except for assists which Melo has over him by quite a bit.

Are all other conditions the same, notably Melo being a free agent and likely to walk? If so then I'm tempted because of Noah and the desire to get something in return before he walks but as far as Melo vs Deng is concerned, I'm taking (or in this case, keeping) Melo.

From the Nuggets perspective though, which is what AG was asking, would you do the deal?

I wouldn't, what's the point. Unless they think Nene and Noah can play together in the line-up.

Going to assume if trade happens, the Nuggets will look more for the young prospects since they'll likely to return to a rebuilding process. Noah, I don't think the Nuggets would want him either, unless they think JR and Billups will stay around and the team sustains to remain at high level playing.

Nene's a natural PF and has a mid-range jumper...

Nene's assisted on 75% of his baskets and takes less than two jump shots per game (of which he shoots 40%).

Crap, Boozer just broke his arm and will be out for 8 weeks...

Chicago Bulls forward Carlos Boozer sustained a fracture of his right hand (5th metacarpal) on October 2, 2010. He was evaluated by team physician Dr. Brian Cole and hand specialist Dr. Marc Cohen of Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush. The fracture will require surgery and Carlos will likely be out 8 weeks. Link

Damn, that's tough shit for Booze and the Bulls. Booze will have to hold off on wearing that jersey for a while. :( I wonder how Andrew reacts to this...

Obviously bad news for the Bulls, but I know a bunch of Bucks fans are smiling inside right now... Especially the ones that made bets.
