It's not really "Devil May Cry 5" it's a complete reboot of the series because Inafune hates Japan and loves America.

It's about time they reboot the series. I liked the first one, but all the games since have been the same fucking thing. Had some fun with DMC 4 despite its flaws, but quit when all the levels were recycled (just completed in reverse!) for the second half of the game.

And what else is a series supposed to be but more of the same with minor changes?

They were forced to rush 4 out without a proper dev cycle, which is why the reuse of assets, it still sold pretty well. The reboot is because of Inafune's ongoing mid-life crisis.

There have only been four games in the series so far, but rushed as it may have been, DMC4 was arguably a downgrade in all aspects but graphically from the first.

Series are supposed to be the same, but unlike in film, the sequels are supposed to improve on the predecessors. If you release the same game four times, your series is going to get stagnant.

There was Devil May Cry, Devil May Cry 3 and Devil May Cry 4. 3 was probably better than the first game, 4 was misguided and rushed, but DmC is probably going to be a disaster.

I love the fact that the Devil May Cry series didn't have a 2 and just went straight to 3.
