Passwords on folders?

Postby Filip on Thu Mar 04, 2004 5:17 am

Okey here we go again (I have also created "how do I delete old search text", lol)

How do I put a required password to enter a certain folder? I've heard that I need NTFS to do this, and in my hardrives it says NTFS, so apparently I do have NTFS.

I'm getting tired to use the "don't show hidden folders" option that dosen't work since my brother knows this function and looks in my "not for kids" sections anyway.
I've tried to hide my folders that is private but they always gets founded. I need the password function.

I use "Windows XP PRO" and I don't want to use the same password as in my login password.

Someone knows?, Other soloutions to my little problem is good too. Any help is appreciate (y)

1. Hide the folders. Right click on the folder then goto properties then at the bottom click 'Hidden'. Open a folder then goto Tools/Folder Options/View then click 'Do Not Show Hidden Files And Folders'. Then when u need to access them just click 'Show Hidden Files And Folders' Now could put the it on your desktop and will never even know that they are there!

2.I have put Paragon Encrypted Disk in My Videos for you, its Free off a coverdisk. It allows you to encrypt and set passwords to any type of file/folder!

lol, well of course your little brother is going to look in the "Not for kids" section. :D You might as well hand him a banana.

Why don't you try placing the folders in the Windows folder, and name them "winpxf.dxl" or something. He wont touch 'em in there. (Y)

I haven't named it "not for kids" i've just named it as "porn" but I used the hidden folder option. + I've tried to hide them in uninterested folders, but he finds them anyway.
He is my bigbrother by the way

Well it's worth is  .

Muhaha, what fun it is gonna be when he comes home soon and will search for my porn and will look after it like crazy and don't realise that is in a hidden hardrive which he need password to anyway    .

Just one thing that crossed my mind yesternight when turning the PC off: If he knows the name of my vids/pics and search for it: Let's called if "bitch" for example, won't the searcher find it in G: and allow him to run it from the windows search engine? Even if it the hardrive is locked and hidden.

If the hard drive is locked, he probably would need the password to run your vids/pics.
