Is 24 chicken wings really all that much to eat? I mean, sure, it's more than you'd eat normally, but it's not really an insane amount of food consumption. A standard serving would probably be what? Six to eight? So it's just three or four servings. If you ate a 8oz steak with a good amount of sides it's going to be close to the amount of food in total volume probably.
The problem is eating them in time because wings suck ass. You have to push out the meat between the bones and they're deceptively small in amount of actual meat. The bone to meat ratio is far higher than any other common cut of chicken. (Consider that the total bone in a drumstick is only slightly more and it has vastly more meat surrounding it.) Thus the reason why wings get a disproportionate amount of flavoring such as increasing amounts of heat as a gimmick to convince people it's a part of the bird they actually want to eat instead of doing anything possible to avoid them which would be the natural result.
Referencing Man v. Food he only had to eat 6 for the first challenge which were 150,000 on the Scoville scale. He easily did it with the heat being the issue. In the next one he did 12 in 10 minutes and also completed that. He failed the next because of the heat, but did a six in six minute challenge just fine.
He then had to do 50 in a half hour. He failed due to bad blue cheese strategy but managed to eat 36. Apparently 30% of people can do this challenge.
In the last attempt, he had to eat 12 in 15 minutes. He decided to remove all the meat from the bone then eat the meat. It took him eight minutes to do 12 and he was able to eat it all.
So you are pushing it most likely merely due to time to consume it. The heat is probably just an alternate attempt to prevent people from accomplishing it. By setting a high standard with a low time frame they've padded their ability to prevent people from winning.
However, apparently there is something called Wing Bowl, and this years winner managed 18 wings in 2 minutes at the end-game of the competition. You should have practiced probably before signing up so you could generate a strategy and method to how you do it. I saw something the other night about
some gigantic pizza challenge, the idiots decided to eat from the outside around the perimeter before moving in and obviously failed to eat even half of it because they consumed more dough early on.
Looking for that pizza thing I searched that site for wings, here's an ugly idiot:
