Calderon was injured for most of last season but played through it. Injury hurt his shooting, and made his already bad defense even worse.

The trade would have brought yet ANOTHER crappy C to Charlotte (Dwayne Jones in addition to Alexis Ajinca, Desagana Diop, and Nazr Mohammed ), while we send Tyson Chandler and Boris Diaw away. That makes the Dallas-Charlotte trade look good.

Nothing makes a salary dump that deals a useful player away for two useless ones who end up making more than said useful player look good. Nazi Mohammed is good and Jones is a non-factor. Would you really rather have Diaw, Carroll and Najera's anchor contracts than Calderon and Dwyane Jones?
