theres a big distinction between West-East and Dirty Sth Rap

West coast rap is familiarized by 2Pac, Westside Connection, Kurupt & Daz
Sth has Lil Jon + Eastside Boyz, Young Bloodz, Luda, Bone Crusher

im not really familiar with East.....i know of Mos Def, KRS-One, Nas but not much else really

I've tried to preach to you that Naughty By Nature is the greatest east coast rap group ever. LL Cool J is also from east coast. Jay-Z, P Diddy ( I think ), Talib Kweli (I guess), 50 Cent (?)....

notorious B.I.G., nas, jay-z, dmx, 50 cent, ja rule, M.O.P., cameron, rakim

west coast rap has more of a summer type feel to it, where east coast is a bit more gritty, east coast also has more emphasis on the verses and lyrics compared to the hooks and beats of the west coast...

until recentley there wasnt much heard of the dirty south scene until ludacris and nelly blew up......this style is totally different using different drum patters and lyrical flow compared to the norm

KRS is east-coast

The best east coast:

BIG, Nas, Eric B. &/Rakim, Wu-tang, Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Erick Sermon, Gang Starr, Cam'ron, A Tribe Called Quest, CNN (Capone'n'Noreagea(sp?), Public Enemy, Fabolous. And "Brush Your Shoulders Off"/"Dirt on Your Shoulder" by Jay-Z. It's the same song.

Oh and Pharoahe Monch, especially 'Oh No' ft. Nate Dogg.

I like Talib Kweli and Nas the best.

Talib's "Quality" CD is nothing short of it's name. He's definitely one of the underrated rappers of today and doesn't get a lot of mainstream publicity like he should. His CD has a lot of variety. Some of it's soulful, some situation rap, and some fast-paced gospel rap like his hit "Get By".

The Wu is from Staten Island silly.

And Nate Dogg is more of a singer that raps alright, then a rapper that sings well. Most of his stuff his singing hooks.

One more to add, 50 Cent's Power of The Dollar songs, How To Rob, Ghetto Qu'Ran (the song that got him shot) are a lot better tahn his current stuff.

yes 50 is a real fake ass commercial fool now like so many other rappers. All they do is money, guns, clubs and bitches. That's why i like guys like NAs and Pac. They get all lyrical and go beyond that commercial junk that everybody spits these days.

i have a question here. Does anybody like Jay Z's music. Ive heard good reviews of his albums and when i listened to them i thought they were total shit. I find his lyrics completely stupid. In my mind he's no rap legend as the Source claims. He sucks totally........anyone wanna shed some light on this

Dude....G-Unit has been like that since they released Underground Mixtapes and CD's that people cared less about...

50 Cent has been like that for a LONG time...IN a song that you guys heard on NBA Live 2003 (while your running your players down court and the Music Plays in the arena...) It wasn't the Menu Songs...But it was Another Rap Beat...and it sounded like this "Na Na Na, Da Da Da" in a Chime like sound...It was G-Units song...called "Hood On Smash" and in the song there is a Blaring Machine Gun going ooff in it...Thats proof that he was always Guns and Money ETC.

as for East Coast Rap?

Jay-Z is the SHIT...

Everyone likes him becuase of his beats. Jay-Z does get Lyrical....In Speaking of beats...THis leads me to telling you guys a great East Coast Rapper....Kanye West....He is the Mastermind behind Ludacris' "Stand Up" (It's Kanye's beat..), Jay-Z "Encore" and "HOVA (Izzo)" he made those beats...and many more, Stack42....this guy doesn't rap about "Commercial Junk"...He is like Nas or something...IF you listen to one of his songs like "Jesus Walks" then you'll get the point

what im trunna do though is avoid the commercial crap of jay Z, Fabolous, diddy etc

Poor you (N)

Your missing out on alot
