Discussion about NBA Live 2004.

Yeaaah! The fake pass was tiiite! And I used to love knockin people down. I hated when they didn't call it but it was funny when u could just push people. Especially on a fast break, because now u can't do anything to stop it because the intentional foul will not work when they are goin up for the dunk already.

Also, I miss how you could advance from screens usin your controller on PC. I wish they would let you control everything on the game menus with the controller, as well as the mouse.

I liked to turn off fouls, and push people. But after a while, the other team got smart, and always had another player walk behind the player with the ball (so he could pick it up)

I'd like to have these back and I will use/view it for sure:

1. save game feature during a game;
2. 3 point shooting competition;
3. half time show with real videos of cheering etc.;
4. career stat of each player;

I'd like to have these back but may not use/view it:

1. create a team feature;
2. save replay;

and, I'd like to have these too:

1. dunk contest (!!!);
2. change of coaches features;
3. arguing with referees features, with options of severity (!) and various outcomes like overruling previous call, give you a "T" foul, or double 'T' etc.

Enjoy NBALive 2004

I miss:

-Progression graphs (good thinking Dave. (Y))
-Save Replay (I like to make little movies out of these and put a soundtrack to them... but saving each frame as a bmp just takes waaaaaaay too long.)
- NBA Live 2001 menu layouts (I like the drop down arrows instead of having to browse by clicking on one arrow.)
- the team ratings in catorgaries like rebounding, offense, defense etc.

ok, for me i miss looking at the players and being able to see their previous teams along with their season stats for the past.

i also miss the autonumber change on i think the free agent signing. for some reason live 04 only does it on trades. right now one of my opposing teams has two players with number 8 on their back and they look similar but one is an inside man and one an outside. makes it a bitch for me and remembering the generated names is as pointless as it gets.

actually you are incorrect here. we cannot place the bobcats in franchise mode without removing another team as the game is based around a 29 team season. that would suggest that although you can create a team if you have the knowhow, which i do, you must remove a team to enjoy the feature. i do not like this and i feel that it cheapens the experience of making a team as you make a team to imagine a new expansion team, not to remove an already present team from the league.

all that taken into consideration, your response is inaccurate and somewhat needlessly insulting to the person who made this post...

Anway I miss to play 1on1 in sunlight, 3pt would be nice to have back, Customteams, that's about what I can come up with now

Saving is just for cheaters and lameasses? How about people who have to go to class or work, people who have a roomate or family member who has to use the computer and can't wait for u to finish the game, when u only have 5 minutes left after playin 7 min or more quarters? I admit, back in 98 I may have used it to cheat a few times, but it is a 10000 ways to cheat on there anyway, so saving a game wasn't the only way at all.

Aight I agree on your there, but there should be a limit, maybe just one save a game and only one load oppurtunity, but it the end it's yourself that decided if you wanna cheat or not, but it's very tempting to do it, if it can be done so easy.

i do not advocate cheating but is it not for them to decide, not you?

:)
thanks...by the way on second thoughts, the 'arguing with referee' feature will not be possible as NBA's executive people will definitely protect her 'positive image' (so called...) by NOT allowing licenced games to have these arguing/fighting features...

Maybe a more realistic way is to hope for having more 'intentional foul' ways... like heavy slap, mild slap, and risks 'T fouls' etc.

Postby stevefrancis3 on Fri Feb 27, 2004 6:04 am

I am missing in NBA Live 2004 the 3-point-shootout and the 2-on-2 and the 3-on-3! and i think in 2004 the players are too talll!!! If you play with the standardcam, they are nearly as tall as the rim is....

There was never a 2on2 or 3on3 option.
I hate that the balls goes over the camera and dissapears sometimes!

Yeah it was, on Genesis and I think Super Nintendo 97 and 98.

2on2,3on3

Postby stevefrancis3 on Sat Feb 28, 2004 9:23 pm

Yeah, R-Tistic is right, there has been a 2on2 and a 3on3 on SuperNintendo, NBA 98!!!
And if there had never been a 2on2 or a 3on3, it would be good either, if it is in the 2005....

The custom team creation tools (IN the GAME David!) are the most missed. I loved being able to add a team or three of custom players without having to destroy a current roster to do it.

The commentary recognizing the last names was great too.

The saves during the game are missed. I get tired of having to quit my games or start them over if someone needs to use the computer after I start a game.

The player progress graphs.

And a player's career stats being on one screen instead of scrolling through each year.

I miss the pause between and after imbounds passes. Sometimes the game cuts too slowly and the computer already imbounds the ball before I can get into good position.

Also, I miss being able to pause the game at tip off and make last minute substitutions.

Also have each statistical category title have the function of sorting like in live 98.

And make the full roster including IL viewable on one screen. Its a hassle to remove someone from the IL and put him in the starting line up.

As far as create a player...
I miss the agressiveness option the most.
I miss all of the various hairstyles they had on there.
They have added accesories and all, but they took away a lot of the faces and all else.
On PS2, I am extremely heated that you can only create 25 players. I don't understand how you could create 40 on NBA Live 97 on PS1, but only 25 on PS2, knowing that the memory card and all can hold much more space.
