To be honest, I can't be assed to find the actual paper on American female voting rates. But there is a direct correlation between the rates of women voting and the growth of government. (If you can find the paper, which DOES exist I just didn't bother.) Honest historians and people who know women like myself are not opposed to this possibility either.
