I'm guessing he'd be getting peanuts on a one year deal, so he's not much of a risk. As far as chemistry is concerned, the Bulls are only bringing back five players from last season so this team actually has to develop chemistry first.

imo the bulls are doing him and his agent, Arn Tellem (d rose's agent as well), a favor by working him out

on a related note- Ronnie Brewer had a 5hr(!) physical, which delayed the press conference announcing his signing. Brewer did mention that Bulls were making sure/testing his hamstring was healthy

i can't imagine the workout they put T-Mac through

i don't want T-Mac on the team and but i see the other side of the argument. just too many "IF's" for this thing to workout. personally i'd like to see Benny the Bull say "hey remember me from 10yrs ago?!!" and the kick him in the nads

Dunno but i still believe that T-mac still has it inside him. He is for clutch situations even with all his problems. He has still things to give. Though he would be even better than Kobe if not had that injuries. It's just a pity with his situation.

for me, it doesn't matter between the 2. Mason had a nice year a few years back but last year Bogans beat him out for PT

The Bulls are prepared to sign Tracy McGrady if he proves to be sufficiently healthy in a workout Monday and he can convince the team he is willing to accept a bench role, one source familiar with Chicago's thinking said Sunday.

"Nothing is done until it's done, but I expect the Bulls to sign McGrady later this week," the source said.

Another unknown is what kind of contract McGrady can command from the Bulls. But, McGrady has said money and years are not his priorities after earning nearly $23 million last season with Houston and New York.

Although he has expressed interest in snagging one of the spots on Miami's bench in support of the LeBron James-Dwyane Wade-Chris Bosh triumvirate and he auditioned for the Los Angeles Clippers last week, Chicago is undeniably where McGrady has been hoping to wind up.

Andrew: I meant to say that McGrady presents a risk of ruining our chemistry in the sense that he is most likely to pout if not given enough playing time. Sure, he can give us his word now, but for someone with his ego and long history of being the man, it's just a matter of time before he explodes. I'd be willing to take that risk if the reward was worth it, but it isn't. He was never much of a defender or spot shooter, and he lost most of the athleticism that made him such a special player. He can probably still create for others, but I we have enough players I'd rather see with ball in their hands (Rose, Miles and perhaps even Brewer).

I'd probably take Bulls' bench even over theirs. Sure, Odom is - at least on most nights - better than anyone coming from our bench, but from 7th man on, Bulls have the edge.

Well, I did say we'd still have Asik (C - was one of the best defensive players outside of NBA) and Mason (SG - rotation player on a championship contender) as insurance policies as you cannot play an eleven man rotation every night. But if you insist:

I don't believe number of players in your rotation equals depth of your roster. Playing 11-12 people every night (with each receiving a solid number of minutes) usually results in bad basketball.

Walton will probably retire, Ratliff is on his last legs, and Vujacic is dead to me, but yes, that's a very deep team. Lakers did one helluva job tweaking their roster.

Even if we accept those two criterias as valid for measuring one team's depth, I still think Bulls pass. Rose may not be top 15 yet, but he's bloody near that ranking, and the rest of the starters certainly combine for one of the best starting lineups in the League. They're not championship material, but they're most certainly top 4 seed material.

Okay, then who else is in the contention for that title? Lakers, Spurs, Rockets, Spurs? While my original statement was obviously too strong, I'd still say Bulls are right up there with these teams.

Orlando, Portland and maybe Boston are deeper. Chicago only has good backups at three positions.

I would say Phoenix is a rather deep team:

C - Lopez/Frye
PF - Warrick/Clark/Lawal
SF - Turkoglu/Hill/Dudley (all 3 could potentially start)
SG - Richardson/Childress
PG - Nash/Dragic

Clark and Lawal remain question marks right now, but other than that, rest of 10 players are all decent distributors (the least).
