3D tvs may actually have a purpose.

If i'm reading that right: 1 tv, different images...as in the girl could watch law and order while i watch football...

I am intrigued

That's crazy. Though any man who needs this needs to wake up to himself and start telling his bitch to get her ass in the kitchen when he wants to watch sports. Other than that, great idea.

I don't know if it means that exactly, I think it's more about two people looking at the same screen but seeing something different; essentially providing a split screen without actually splitting the screen.

A real world example may be playing Twisted Metal or Killzone 3 with a friend. Rather than playing in split screen, you could choose to use the stereoscopic setting so that each of you only sees your own character’s point of view on the screen. Your friend will no longer be able to cheat and see where you are, or check out your plays on Madden. Also interesting is that the patent drawings show glasses with earbuds, like those old Oakleys. Imagine being able to get your own audio signal while you play.

So you'd still ultimately be looking at the same thing on the screen, but you'd each see it differently. Sounds pretty cool.

well it'd still have be two different images i think. Why couldnt the split screen effect be expanded into regular tv? Either way its awesome if this works as they say it does

Maybe it could, maybe I've misunderstood but it sounded to me they were talking about two different images from the one source (ie a single video game or TV channel).

Right but we have picture in picture already is what im thinking so its a matter of time until split screening like this becomes awesome

True. I think they'll need to perfect separate audio signals on the glasses first but that would be awesome. After that, I guess a chip in the brain is the next step.

Or something like this:

Audio is no problem. They just use subsonic directional speakers and the sound is audible right next to your ear, that way there is no mixing of sound sources. NVM, didn't know it was with glasses. I thought they were going to angle the reflection of light like 3d holograms or something.

TV's are expensive enough.
