Help me.

Thu Jul 15, 2010 10:19 am

So I know I should google this, but I wasnt sure what to search for. Anyways, I have this HP laptop and if the screen is inactive for a bit...it goes to the user account screen. I then have to click on my username to get back in the laptop. I dont want that screen to come up.

I've changed the inactivity settings to "do nothing" when inactive, I've turned off screensavers and everything...so anyone have an idea?

Which OS? There should be a option to display the Welcome screen in the screensaver settings, sounds like that might be enabled.

When I saw the title, I was expecting this to be a parody of Doobie's posts.

Sorry I couldn't help :(

If it's one of the Windows (hell, even if it's not there's probably something similar) go into the power options in the control panel and click to change whatever your plan is. Then go into the advance settings, there you can toggle off or change how it comes back from sleep. Should be something in there about what comes up after the computer is awoken.

It could be, can you disable that in any way?

Do you have multiple users on the laptop? If not you could have it auto-login which disables the screen.

Actually, try this:
Personalization -> Screen Saver
There's a check box for making the login screen appear after resume.

The screensaver thing didn't work, it was greyed out to start with.

I did try this link, here's hoping it works.

The registry setting seems to have done the trick. The laptop is working without going to the log on screen.

In other bad computer news...seems my desktop just dieded. Seems the fan conked out and it melted the wire to the board. Fun, fun.

This topic could be closed now. Thanks for the helps fellows...and Ben.
