NOTE: THIS IS NOT A REVIEW THREADI still want people to make new threads about albums that have just come out (like the Bullet for My Valentine one) but I thought this might be useful for people to let others know when new albums they like/are interested in are coming out. I am creating it because I stopped going to music blogs for like a month and suddenly there's a rush of new releases I had no idea about. So here are mine for now...
Secret & Whisper - Teenage Fantasy

15. Blessthefall - Dream On (Aerosmith)
I heard the original song but I wasn't even aware Aerosmith sang that one.
The voice sounds different until a part where it's the familiar Steven Tyler scream.

Thanks.
Especially hope Teenage Fantasy gets close to Great White Whale.
Jae wrote:I really like these albums for some reason, covers are cool.
There's something offensive and wrong with them, but I have them all. It's a hope that someone ever tops A Thorn for Every Heart's "Dead Man's Party." (Punk Goes 80s is the best, followed by the first Punk Goes Pop. Best combos of bands and material, and also when the bands tried to blend the original song and their own style. Recent ones haven't seemed like they were trying to pay any respect to the covered songs while doing their own thing with them.)
The latter albums make me think of:
One thing that really hurt them is that they became label albums, I don't remember which was the first but they suddenly only did bands on the parent label, which sent the quality downhill.
And covering rock songs straight never really works, the series worked when it toyed with genres.

Same here. They absolutely ruin some of the songs they cover but for some reason they are still worth listening to. The only one I didn't like was the metal one, that seemed largely pointless to me.
The label thing is true, one benefit is that bigger bands starting latching on (Silverstein, Chiodos etc) but it is pretty restricting. They're doing Punk Goes Pop 3 now so I guess i get my wish

Thanks Jae for making this
Since I'm kind of the reason he made this, I might as post my BFMV release thing here.

New Avenged Sevenfold single called
NIGHTMARES hit iTunes two days ago. It is their first song since the tragic unexpected death of one of the greatest drummers that ever lived, The Rev. Replaced by Mike Portnoy of Dream Theater, A7X has gone on to make their album called "Nightmares" due in about two months. In case people don't know, my avatar was an animated version of their logo.

Not a big rap fan, but I love Outkast, and that's a good album.

I doubt Andre 3000's will be as good.

Andre's wont be a rap album, his last one was like, jazz fusion with hip hop. Im very intrigued to see what he pulls out this time. Thanks for the alert on big boi though: will check it out later.
Wed Jul 07, 2010 6:08 am
It COULD be a rap/soul album, his last album was completely Soul.
In the songs he was featuring lately,he was more rapping then singing,i hope for a little bit of both from him in the new album, anyway, can't wait for the Outkast album later.
Thu Jul 08, 2010 4:36 am
Yeah, I'm looking for the new Outkast. Not sure how it will be though, since Idlewild sucked. Can't stop listening to the new Big Boi though. My favorite hip hop album since Late Registration and the best OutKast related album since Stankonia. Definitely up there with Plastic Beach and Cosmogramma for my favorite albums of the year. Favorite tracks are Follow Us, Tangerine and Be Still. Also, the skits are actually pretty funny.
The David Blaine one, oh my god...Also, I'm not an M.I.A. fan (her music gets on my nerves after a while), but her new album's out and pretty well-received. Its being streamed
here.

1 "The Message"
2 "Steppin' Up"
3 "XXXO"
4 "Teqkilla"
5 "Lovalot"
6 "Story to Be Told"
7 "It Takes a Muscle"
8 "It Iz What It Iz"
9 "Born Free"
10 "Meds and Feds"
11 "Tell Me Why"
12 "Space"
Fri Jul 16, 2010 9:18 pm
Nice to see a big boi album. Definitely gotta give it a shot. Outkast was one of the very best rap combo until Idlewild came out.
Has anybody listened to the new Roots album. Caught some tracks on youtube and it's A+ Roots material.
Oh and yeah, MIA is wicked, loved her both LPs and I hope this one can keep up.
Sat Jul 17, 2010 5:36 am
MIA album's not very good. First song is a rant about how Google is a government conspiracy, and it doesn't get much better.
