Great news! (Y) I heard that they were originally planning to hold off making a Simpsons movie until the series had ended. I'm glad they've changed their minds though. :D

Picking up on the theme, Reiss, in a talk last year at Drexel University, said that "there was a Scooby-Doo movie so there will be a Simpsons movie," per the campus paper The Triangle.

And like Scooby-Doo, Reiss joked, The Simpsons movie is "gonna suck pretty hard."

This movie hopefully won't be in '3D' like Scooby was.
Even though i liked the time when Homer got zapped into the "real" world, I don't think it would work for an entire movie at all...

Tue Feb 17, 2004 11:00 pm

YES!!!
i saw it in the paper and i just outburst with a huge YES!!!!!

i cant wait.
they better have the docter in it.
i cant remember his name but he laughs at the stupidest times.
i know hes gonna be in it, but he has t ohave a comedic part :D

and Homer rules!!!

Tue Feb 17, 2004 11:26 pm

This movie should be 10+hours long and should showcase every character who has been in the Simpsons :P I hope they get an Oscar for it (Y)

Well, there's two doctors I can think of....Dr. Herbert and Dr. Nick. But the one with the trademark laugh is Dr. Herbert. Er Herh, Herh, Herh, Herh!

Great news, looking forward to it.

Wed Feb 18, 2004 11:21 am

have you guys played The Simpsons: Hit & Run?? it rocks!! (Y)

Thu Feb 19, 2004 12:46 am

:D We're talking about the movie of the decade right now...

Thu Feb 19, 2004 4:50 am

My main hope is that they bring back some of the writers of the earlier seasons when the series was at it's peak. Conan O'brien for one.

Thu Feb 19, 2004 7:05 pm

All of the main voice actors (Dan Castellaneta, Julie Kavner, Yeardley Smith, Nancy Cartwright, Hank Azaria and Harry Shearer) are signed on to do the movie, so I'm expecting most of the regular secondary and minor characters will make an appearance in the movie.

Thu Feb 19, 2004 10:58 pm

Hank Azaria does about 10-20 voices i heard.
is that true?
something i heard a while ago.

Fri Feb 20, 2004 6:54 pm

That's right. Hank, Harry and Dan all do many voices.

Dan does Homer, Groundskeeper Willy, Grampa, Krusty, Barney, Sideshow Mel and Mayor Quimby among others. Hank's characters include Moe, Apu, Professor Frink, Dr Nick, Chief Wiggum, The Sarcastic Guy (an imitation of Charles Bronson) and many more. Harry does Mr Burns, Smithers, Dr Hibbert, Jasper, Herman, Ned Flanders, Reverend Lovejoy, Otto, Kent Brockman and a few others.

More than 10 years since that Net moment and more than 15 years since Groening's animated clan made their TV debut, The Simpsons is finally getting ready for its close-up.

Maybe.

Fox's feature-film animation division is "in the very early stages of developing an idea for the movie," exec Chris Meledandri said in Wednesday's Daily Variety.

This is a rumor. And just that, we're far from seeing this movie getting made, it's just another bullshit story to fill up the news slots. Don't get your hopes up just yet... There's been the same talk about this for years. I know, since I follow the movie developments daily, for (one of) my job(s).

Comic book guy?

My favourite character is Dr. Nick.
"Well isn't it my old friend Mr. McGreg, with a leg for an arm and an arm for a leg."
"You mean inflammable means flammable. What a country."

If this does happen I will be very happy. Stupid Tony ruining my happiness, j/k.

Sun Feb 22, 2004 2:52 pm

Nah, not Comic Book Guy. The voice I'm talking about it an imitation of Charles Bronson, and has been given to various minor characters - in the scripts, it's simply referred to as "Sarcastic Guy/Voice". These days they generally use the same character model with the sarcastic voice, though sometimes they'll lend the voice to a different character model.

If you're still wondering who I'm talking about, the following episodes are a good reference:

"The Way We Was" (The flashback ep to Homer and Marge's graduation): He's the limo driver that Homer hires.

"Lisa's Pony": He's the pet store owner.

"The Old Man & The Key" (where Grandpa gets his license): When the Simpsons go to "Bronson", the town where everyone looks and acts like Charles Bronson, the sarcastic voice can be heard.

On the subject of Comic Book Guy (who is of course also sarcastic ), I forget who voices him, but it's either Hank or Harry.

Ah! i think i know the guy... he says "eyy... watch it chief". If that's not the same character then it's the same voice.
