http://mlb.fanhouse.com/2010/06/02/umpi ... erfect-ga/Umpire Jim Joyce fucked it up big time. No matter how he feels sorry for himself now, the damaage is done. It's just sad for Armando Galarraga who is robbed of perfect game. Yet, he didn't say shits in umpire's face but insteand, he just played on. I don't know if that was respect or class shown by Armando though. Good that fans in the stadium spoke for him though.
Jim Joyce obviously is going to be remembered for a long time.

the amount of class, respect, and sportsmanship between Joyce and Galarraga is something to be applauded though. Disappointed to hear that David Stern wouldn't reverse the call since he deserves to have the 21st perfect game but it was just good to see that Galarraga didn't throw the ball in his face or anything like that and Joyce admitting he fucked up.

That was a terrible call. It looked out in normal speed. Sucks for the pitcher but at least he was a good sport about it. A once in a lifetime thing for a pitcher, but ahh well, shite happens.

I am not really sure on that with Jim Joyce though, especially the case being so obvious with 99.9% of fans backing it up, I don't think Joyce had a choice but to admit that he fucked up. Just hearing from his radio(or phone) interview, he seemed to be sincere though(majorly because of him crying a bit). With that said, him I think is going to be remembered for this regardless of his 20 years of umpiring career was awesome or bad.

oh yea for sure, but both joyce or galarraga couldn't have handled the situation any better. he didn't think he fucked up until he saw the replay on the big screen and it was too late to reverse the call. then he let the manager get all up in his face and listened to him without saying anything, that is huge in baseball as is.

I can't argue wit that I guess. even though I still can't accept how Joyce fucked up something that was so obvious even 9 years old could have made a right call in that situation. 2 decades of experience as an unpire only to make such a poor judgement just makes you upset, and the timing of it couldn't have been worse, considering what was at stake. Nobody knows what was going on inside his head at that moment he made the call, but that was the time he should have been the most focused and fair. Human being making a mistake card just isn't enough here imo.
