Apparently Ronnie James Dio died yesterday. What all you need to know? He was in Black Sabbath and pretty much took over when Ozzy went solo. Top song is his biggest solo hit, and the last 2 are tenacious D things that discuss/feature Dio.

RIP to a god of 70s and 80s metal.

It was a sad day for metal. An absolute god of the genre.

This past year has been a sad year for music in general.
I can think of 3 legendary figures in music right off the top of my head who died in the last year: Michael Jackson, The Rev (of avenged sevenfold, their logo is my avatar for a reason) and now Dio.
It's been a bad year.

wouldnt call avenged sevenfold legendary. They mean alot to you but in the grand scheme of thing they wont be remembered by anyone but their fans.

I don't think anybody has described Dio's awesomeness better than Henry Rollins.

I suddenly have the urge to create a character in any rpg, arm it with an axe or sword and name it Dio.

True, but you have to admit The Rev was close to legendary, and btw, Mike Portnoy is drumming for A7X's new album and if I didn't know that The Rev was dead, it really sounds like he's drumming and I would have thought it was him!

What about Rainbow in the Dark? I very much prefer it over Holy Diver.

I was also a fan of some of his work with Rainbow.

Oh yeah: wasnt claiming Holy Diver was his best: far from it. Just his most well known.

C'mon benji he had a nickname, The Rev, that's pretty close to being legendary.
