Heres the link and all players well deserved except I would say Durant is more deserving than Sefolosha. http://www.examiner.com/x-1192-NBA-Examiner~y2010m5d5-Dwight-Howard-leads-AllDefensive-team
1st team Dwight, Gerald Wallace, Lebron, Kobe, Rondo
2nd Team Duncan, Wade, Josh Smith, Varejao, Sefolosha

Verajo's inclusion, warranted or not, shows the voters aren't all about huge block and steal numbers. I was a little surprised when I saw him on there.

Kobe being all first defensive is a surprise. The guy picks the least talented offensive player to guard and then stands way back playing off him. The one-two times said guy scores by driving passed him, he looks at his team mates as if its their fault said guy scored.

Sure when he wants to play defense he's pretty good, but I would think you'd have to play defense for atleast 75% of the game instead of just when they really really need a stop. Were the other SG's that horrid on defense?

Durant is actually good on the defensive end. Give me one reason why hes not deserving?

Edit: Just realized Joahkim Noah didnt make it either.

Because Thabo Sefolosha is better? I don't doubt Durant's D, he's improved tremendously since coming into the league, but he's not an elite defender by any stretch.

Because Thabo Sefolosha is better?
Why? What separates him as a defender from Durant?

I'm not surprised to see Kobe make the first team. I'd switch him with Josh Smith but the whole, they seem like pretty reasonable selections at a glance.

Give me some time, I have to do political science stats first.

I believe the D-Team has position requirements.

Explanation: Looks like crossmatching. Potentially multicollinearity.

Last season Thabo was quite a bit better than Durant both in OKC and CHI. (And his OKC numbers looked like his Chicago ones helping to imply the former issues.)

:cussing: it seems people were voting for Duncan as both a PF and a C. The worst part is, even if Duncan had been voted as a PF for arguments sake, freeing up room for a C in the second team Marcus Camby would've still made it over Bogut.

I'm pretty sure it doesn't, a lot of the recent first teams have featured three forwards, a centre and a guard.

I never expected Bogut to make either the All-NBA 3rd Team or the All-Defensive 2nd Team. People in the league just don't take him seriously. Funny he can finished 7th in DPOY voting but not make the 2nd team. I'm guessing outside of Dwight, the other 5 in front of him were not centres.

Define recent, because none of the last decade have outside of a tie.

Don't need much thought, Noah is clearly more deserving than Anderson "flop" Varejao :shake:

2008: Kevin Garnett, Kobe Brant, Marcus Camby, Bruce Bowen, Tim Duncan
2006: Bruce Bowen, Ben Wallace, Andrei Kirilenko, Ron Artest, Kobe Bryant, Jason Kidd (the tie was between the two guards, Kobe and Kidd)
2005: Ben Wallace, Kevin Garnett, Bruce Bowen, Tim Duncan, Larry Hughes
2004: Ron Artest, Kevin Garnett, Ben Wallace, Bruce Bowen, Kobe Bryant

Those are all fairly recent examples of three forwards being selected, though granted one could call Bowen a guard for the sake of picking two guards, two forwards and a centre. Still, he was more commonly listed as a forward.

That's just the first teams though. In 2006 the second team was comprised of Tim Duncan, Chauncey Billups, Marcus Camby, Kevin Garnett and Tayshaun Prince with no ties; three forwards, one guard and a centre.

Agree with most of the team, although I'd replace Lebron with Josh Smith. I don't have the stats to compare Smith and Lebron, but IMO it takes more then chase-down blocks to be all-defensive team.

And I'd replace Varejao with Noah or Bogut. Really glad to see Sefolosha in the 2nd team.

I watch LeBron too and I wouldnt call him a defensive stopper either. He has his flaws on the defensive end. I never saw him as a shutdown defender. His ability to time blocks, defensive rebounding and transition defense are things I cant argue with though. Josh Smith is a pretty good defender but the guy gets himself in foul trouble way too often. He's also voted in there as a SF but spends most of his time at PF.

Wade in the second team, seriously? Outside of the blocks he gets, he's horrible. Even an old Ray Allen can get past him with a simple crossover.
HE'S USING HYPNOSIS!
