(3) Suns Vs. (7) Spurs

Postby Lamrock on Fri Apr 30, 2010 3:19 pm

Well, I was hoping for a Blazers/Mavs series, but instead we get Suns/Spurs. The Spurs entered the post-season underrated, and became the first #7 seed to win a 7 game seres. The Suns, despite a couple missteps, took a dump on the Blazers, as expected by most. Despite these two teams' history, I think the Suns are the better team, and should outlast the Spurs.

Phoenix in 6.

(And yes, I know the Blazers/Suns game 6 isn't technically over)

PHX's offense VS SAS's defense. SAS in 6. My gut says so after seeing SAS vs DAL series.

Spurs in 5. I don't like Phoenix, Duncan should be able to handle Amare and Nash was really inconsistent throughout the Blazers series.

I wish I could say Suns would win this, but I just can't quite bring myself to it. Grant Hill should do an alright job defending Ginobili, but unless Frye/Dudley shows some sort of consistency from three I don't see it.

Jason Richardson, as much as I like him, isn't known for his 40+ point outbursts vs. good teams (not the Portland's bad, but they aren't the Spurs in talent or swagger/reputation).

Spurs in 7.

The Spurs will take this series. If Parker was playing like two years ago, I'd say Spurs in 5. But I guess the Suns will win at least two games at home because the Spurs do not have that many mismatches.

I just found out this: most Spurs fans are still classless dicks, covering up the fact that they live in a dirty city with a dirty river. The handfuls of others are decent people, but they're weighed down by the rest of the crap down there. And no, I will refrain from a Mike Bacsik "dirty Mexicans" comment.

Spurs in 6, again. Especially if they get to play the same defense they did during the Mavs series.

Having counted out the Spurs once already, I'll take them in six this time...which probably means the Suns are advancing. So long as it's an enjoyable series, I don't mind who advances.

I couldn't bear to see that the Mavs lost to the SPURS!!! I lost my mind.
The Mavericks are my 2nd favorite team after my hometown Bobcats and both my teams are out in the first round.
Now it comes down to Phoenix to beat SA in six games or less.

JRich, Amare, Nash, and Grant Hill can take Duncan, Jefeerson, Tony Parker, and *excrement* Manu. :cheeky:

Just to be on the safe side, I'm going with Phoenix in six

NBA.com has the prediction in favor of PHX in 7, though I can't see the Spurs as an underdog in this one, other than not having a homecourt advantage.

Perhaps PHX has more fans, but clearly the poll almost everywhere favors the PHX in the series. I think SAS being the 7th seed coming into this playoffs still is playing as a doubt factor to many out there.

Whoever is right, this series will be an epic battle, that's for sure.

I hope Phoenix finally gets through them. A nice Lakers/Phoenix WCF is what I want to see. Phoenix in 6, Timmy will get tired.

Based on entertainment value (for me) I'd still rather see the Spurs vs Lakers, they just play a more exciting game than Phoenix vs Lakers. (To me atleast.)

The Suns have good offense, but that can be beat with the Spurs' solid defense. The Spurs have mediocre offense, but the Suns don't have ANY defense. Spurs in 6.

The Spurs came out ready in 3rd and tied the game. This series isn't as good as Mavericks one as it seems to be less physical, but still pretty fun to watch. Good to see Nash playing well in this one, but TD can't create his own shot no more. It's SAS's backcourt that's doing the job done right now. He just made his trademark bankshot, and it's the first time seeing him making one in the playoffs.

Frustrating game so far. Suns keep jumping out to big leads then systematically blowing them out. I expect closing out games to be an issue for PHX here.

Very Very Good Game! The PHX played great on offense, especially Amare and Richardson, and also did enough on defense. As for the Spurs, it doesn't look all that gloomy with this loss. Even with PHX playing great, hitting 3s and stopping TD at times, this was a close game. The Spurs surely will make adjustments on D in game 2 and see how it goes, just like in a series against Dallas. This will turn out to be a great series once again, and if the Suns don't secure homecourt advantage, it'll be really dangerous since even the Mavericks failed to win at San Antonio. Though, I was quite surprised how they could go up by 10 in just about 2 minutes, against Spurs D. That's something I didn't see from the Mavericks. The chances looks good for the PHX but not bad for the Spurs either at this moment.

The game has got to be concerning for Suns fans though. They blew a couple leads, and Nash and J-Rich combining for 58 efficient points is not going to happen again. I think San Antonio will take the next one.

I felt the same, but I was also surprised to see PHX's offense actually dissecting Spurs D efficiently. At the same time, being up 8 or 9 points didn't really feel all that safe for the Suns. Lolz...

Ultimately, I think this series will follow the path of Mav VS Spurs series, if the Spurs take the game 2.
